I guess because you still have your save files whether not not you choose to subscribe to Xbox Live Gold. If you play a MMORPG you, in essence, lose your game if you stop paying.

Spending money on LIVE is more piratical than spending that amount of money on one game.

I don't see how what your saying makes an sense, your actually making paying for MMOs look worse

First lets remember, this is paying for a SINGLE game, I don't care how much they update

Also, on topof this 15 dollars a month(yes, a game's services cost more than live)AND we have to pay for live?

Thats crazy.

Computer MMOs don't have you paying for a "Live" services also so lets keep the MMOs on the PCs. PCs run them a lot better also and its a lot more bang for your buck no comparison.

It's 5 dollars. :P If you have the money to go out of town for a month then I'm sure you could spare 5 dollars.

Also 3 map's is UNpractical as well for 15 dollars

starcraft 2 launched with over 100 different maps and is going to come out with new maps for free

charging 5 dollars per map is outrageous and i dont think its right i dont htink its fair an ppl are doing in the millions so something is wrong on the consoles IMO

i dunno what there doing i mean there buying multiple map packs these people put together those maps in about a day i mean they have all the resources to make maps already done into the game and it just takes them a couple of hours to design a new map

this isn't worth the milllions they are making off it in WoW u get more bang for u r buck 5 dollars go a much longer way their then paying 5 dollar for a map

my point is this

battle.net/ps3 live free to play ur game sonline = free

blizzard making map's for free not charign 5 dollars = free

custom maps on starcraft 2 = free

xbox live = 50 dollars per year they prolly take another 400 dollars from u since u first bought the xbox thats not a good price for a system just do the math bro do the math plz

mw2 map pack = 3 maps = 15 dollars = a bad deal

people customize great maps for free in bnet like DOTA an stuff so u get like 1000's of games maps for free when u buy a blizzard game thats just not the case with console games

I ask for a year for Xbox Live from my family at Christmas time. It's more than I'd like it to be, but eh.
I'd never buy a couple of maps for $15 dollars though, or pay $15 a month for an MMO either.

i pay for $50 bucks for live cuz i can play online, use last.fm, netflix if i subsribe, facebook and tweet if i decide to sign-up (doubt it though). however, paying $15 for 3 maps is stupid, thats why i play BFBC2 instead. lol

Your going out of town example is worse for MMOs. Going out of town? You just gave that company a free $15. $15 is more than $5, no?

Because I am paying $4 a month for access to dozens of games and demos and videos and all kinds of stuff. I would not pay $15 (TRIPLE the price of Xbox Live) a month for a SINGLE game.

Oh and I don't buy those overpriced $15 map packs.

I guess it really depends on the type of person. Some people would pay money for whatever type of entertainment they want, be it Xbox Live or MMO's.

But I can see Xbox Live giving me a more of a "bang for my buck" since I can get access to online multi-player for many different games, get exclusive content, and so on. Paying for just one game doesn't seem worth it for me.

Nice thread by the way, it got me thinking. :)

no you won't have everything

you won't have you're friends list

you won't have online play

you won't have any new updates

you won't get demo's or anything all ull have is ur old stuff which is worthless

so if u cancel xbox live ur pretty much in the dark in all ways possible so dont act like ur keepin every little thing that u had before

You can still connect online and have the the things I marked red with just a Xbox Live Silver account. Although, for demo's, you can still get them except for some Xbox Live Gold exclusive ones, and I'm pretty sure you still get updates, and who says some of the old demo's are useless? I still have fun with some of them at times :|

Also by not paying, I think 93soccer means that he only needs to pay once for a set of months.

starcraft is $10 more then most PC games, The ridiculous prices they charge for character transfers, name changes and just ingame items on WoW are completely unjustifiable, In short they will charge whatever they think they can get away with.

To sum this thread up this is a guy who plays WOW 15 hours a day and decided he's going to go troll. And fail at ripping on xbl and map packs. And fyi the mw2 map packs had 5 maps. Even though 2 were old your still getting 5 new maps for that game. Get your facts straight before you go troll.

your going to pay around 200 bucks a year to play wow.

XBL is 50, so you buy to map packs its 20-30. Still 70-80.

Heh, when I was typing, I was only thinking of Starcraft, but now that you mentioned World of Warcraft, I see your point, I'm not a fan myselfof payingevery monthfor the same game, but $10 extra for a game depends on if the game is worth it, and Starcraft II might be a game I'd buy but my computer isn't the type for playing games like those.

Sure Starcraft 2 was probably worth it but i don't want companies to start a trend of charging above average prices becuase they know people will pay it, IE Halo Reach.

Also didn't WoW charge $25 for an in-game mount? Makes the whole MW2 map packs seem like a bargain.

Because, playing any MMORPG that has any the words "Dragon, Armor, wizard, spell, elf, sword, or firestaff makes your Nerd rating go up 5000 points. (every 10 posts on the gamespot forums equals 1 point, plus making an account makes 20 points)

Xbox Live is £40 a year. With that I get discounts, early demos/beta's/online/last.fm/facebook/twitter/sky player etc. WoW is £108 a year. I'd get the ability to play ONE game.

$15 for 5 maps =/= $5 per map. Plus, you can play those maps as long as a there is a community to play them, not just for one month. $50 to play every game online for a year is way less than $120 to play one game online for a year. Some people see both of those things as a better deal than what a MMORPG offers.

[QUOTE="93soccer"]For me, with an MMORPG, I lose everything once I stop paying. With Live and DLC, I still have it when I stop paying. Simple for meZarbonX

no you won't have everything

you won't have you're friends list

you won't have online play

you won't have any new updates

you won't get demo's or anything all ull have is ur old stuff which is worthless

so if u cancel xbox live ur pretty much in the dark in all ways possible so dont act like ur keepin every little thing that u had before

1. You keep your friends list and you can message/private chat with them

2. You still get updates with Silver..

3. You do get demos. Not when they first release but you get them maybe 2 weeks to a month later.

4. Before you create an Xbox Live bashing thread (because this is so original..) you should probably know what you're talking about.

$50 a year + $15 for three maps for life < < < < $15 a month for one game. It's pretty obvious.

50 bucks a year for multiple games

vs

15 bucks A MONTH for one game

its a ripoff thats why

also if i played an MMO i would still have not gotten a girlfriend

painguy1

Plenty of people have started relationships on MMOs. My friend's dad just married his girlfriend of about 3 years and they met on FFXI.

Those $15 bucks aren't a ripoff. For the same reason you defend the price of Xbox Live, you can defend the price of paying for an MMO. To the outside world, it looks stupid. It's amazing people still haven't gotten a grasp of this concept yet. What you find to be worth $50, someone else might not.

so like an MMORPG is like 120 year a if u buy it for a year

xbox live is 50 Dollars for a year and map packs for like 3 more maps is like 15 dollars like 5 dollars a map

so why are people willing to pay like 5 dollars for a map and MMORPG come out with like new stuff everyday an thats like more bang for your buck then a map for 5 dollars

also i mean Live is actually close to the cost if you play a year of an MMORPG just thinka botu that for a sec its not like super far behind and u can play 6 months of an mmo for like the cost of live so its not like outrageous prices or antyhing

its just odd is what i see it so why do u think this is?

ZarbonX
aside from the fact that 50 dollars a year is less than 15 dollars a month for a year and 15 dollars for DLC is a one time purchase?

I'm not interested in monthly fees. Also not a fan of MMOs.

mmos are the greatest value in gaming, if i'm really into one i pay $15 a month and nothing else. well i guess adding in the initial cost of the mmo it ends up averageing out to $20 or so a month for the whole thing.

when i'm not playing one i'm spending $50 to $100 a month depending on what comes out.

everytime i hear somebody go on about what a rip mmos are i just laugh.

btw, if all you are doing is taking a shot at xbl and map packs that's something else that makes me laugh,i got plenty to worry about other than what people do with the money they earn.

because most of people dont want to stay in one game for years.
