Not really. I sure as heck don't have my pc hooked up to a 50in Plasma with a 5.1 custom built sound system, I don't sit on a comfortable couch when I'm on the pc, and if I succumb to using a controller for pc games, in addition to hooking it up to the theater--well, I might as well call it a gaming console.

I was doing that yesterday... :?

Split screen is pointless TBH.

If you friends know how to play a certain game, chances are that they the own the game and that console. So it's much better to just play online.

If they don't own the game and console, chances are that you'll crush them and it just won't be fun.

anshul89

disagree, Anshul...i enjoy having friends over to play splitscreen games. heck, to this day we still play metal arms into the wee hours. my opinion, of course.

I can't seem to grasp why someone would choose an inferior console over a kick ass PC. :| It boggles the mind! :P

i think its all preference. i have my reasons why i prefer consoles. and believe me, its not any of these "teh PC costs 12,000000 dollars" or "i havez to upgradez teh software every 2 weeks."

All systems have their strongsuit, and PC certainly has it's fair share.

This. Finally, an intelligent, and mature response. Graphics wise, it may be the best (on the PC) but nothing beats the immersive feeling of playing on a big HDTV screen. I played the first Gears of War on PC, although it has CRISP graphics (along with so many bugs and issues), it wasn't half near as immersive as playing it on the 360 with a big screen.

Preferences. For most games- especially shooters- I find it more immersive to play on a monitor.

99% of the time you would be correct. Everyone once and a while the PC will get a lower quality port for some reason. Wasnt GTA IV better on PS3/360 than the PC?

I guess part of being a hermit is completely ignoring everyone's posts? lets see, You have to worry about hardware compatibility you have to worry about software compatibility it cost more to pc game you have to upgrade your pc , where as my console has an 8 to 10 year life span on it, no worries when I get home from the store, I can play my game, not wait to install it, then figure out why the install failed Most people don't have their pc hooked up to their tv, so you have to play on a pc monitor, i'll take a big tv anyday again, my console is set up to my tv, I can have multiple people around playing games, weather it be split screen or just someone helping another finding collectables/solving puzzles PC misses out on alot of multiplats, consoles only miss out on a few games that are pc exclusive so theres some stuff off the top of my head, not that you'll bother reading it, your super pc just excludes it from your screen, I know :)

Hardware compatibility? Um? Even a standard Dell PC with a mid ranged graphic card will play a game better then a console would. Software compatibility? This isn't the age of Windows DOS :roll: Installing. So you couldn't wait 5 minutes for a game to install, which you could use to grab a drink, or make some food? :roll:. I've never experienced a "install failure". Because most people don't have their computer hooked up to their TVs, it means YOU can't do it? :?. Seriously, who plays split screen these days? And your friend couldn't sit beside you and help you find collectables / solve puzzles? PC doesn't miss out on alot of multiplats, but it does miss out on a few exclusives.

And what I was implying is, why exclude yourself from PC gaming, when you can play all 3? Xbox, PS3 and PC? You're the person excluding yourself from PC gaming. :|

At retail there are many PC games that are worse than the console counterparts. The problem is some people try as hard as they can to discredit and banish patches and mods.

Also people just look at the score and not the review. FFVII PC is mostly worse than the PS one, only because it is like the PS one. Just the crappy AVIs and MIDIs made the PS version superior in some way. Patches and mods made it better on PC.

The same with RE4. The PC version with all the mods available makes it, arguably, better or at least on par with the Wii version.

1. Screen-watching ruins everything
2. You can't discuss advanced tactics.

1. Being in the same room and screen watching allow for greater team-work in co-op or team based games.

2. Shared screen is better than online for many competitive games like fighters.

3. Some of us have things like wives or girlfriends who like to play games with us. I play offline splitscreen games (like Borderlands) or games that allow split-screen in online matches (like Warhawk or Resistance 2) WAAAAAY more than other online games.

I play all consoles, but I primarily game on my PC, if I have the choice. (PC -> Primary gaming, Consoles -> For exclusives). :P But some people are intentionally refusing to see the PC as a really good system. I mean, I know PC gaming can cost alot if you want all the bells and whistles, and it's not as simplistic as a console, but once you get the grasp of it, the PC has alot to offer. This wasn't aimed directly at you, and I'm sorry if I sound patronising, but to everyone who hasn't gamed on a PC before, it's quite cool. 8)

No the real fun part is most people that try (but epicly fail) to bash the PC have never owned one themselfs and failed trying to play with mouse and keyboard (wich offcourse is far superior to a controller).

I have played my fair share of console games years ago but i will never return becaus theres a MAJOR been there done that feeling. I still play lots of PC games and even if i play certain PC games for the 100th time i still don't have that "been there done that feeling" becaus of randomness, huge depth and massive replayability wich you only get on PC.

I'm no fanboy of the PC, my god 90% of the games these days are as lame as the console games, i just love to play civilization, sim city, x-com, heroes of might and magic, warcraft, starcraft, etc.

-edit-

Again, i see a lot of people whine about the cost of a PC. My advice, invest in a good monitor and case, get a keyboard and mouse for a couple of bucks and after that your PC will cost you 300 to 400 euro each time.

let me list what you need to play a game like dragon age origins just fine:

MB = 60 to 100 euro

CPU = 60 to 100 euro

Videocard = 60 to 100 euro

ram = 60 to 100 euro

Thats all you need if you already own a good monitor, keyboard, mouse, power. So i get the cheapest = 240 euro and get a good chair for gaming and i still be out cheaper then a damn PS3.

With this system you have the system those people bragged about a year ago, well not the raid setup or really expensive add ons, but i am alway able to play any game for this amount of money and i buy a new PC every 2 or 3 years like this. Sometimes i treat myself on a new screen or sound system but thats the same for consoles wich don't come with screen and sounsystem either.
