Why are Xbox exclusives so limited in genre?

@XboxStache: So Halo, Gears, Forza, Dead Rising, Ryse, Sunset Overdrive, Killer Instinct, Scalebound, Quantum Break, and Recore aren't diverse enough for you. Seems that everything is kinda covered.

And yes at one time they were all exclusive when released reguardless of coming to PC later so don't even whine with that argument.

If you want to count multiplats like SFV, you got Titanfall, RotTR, Halo Wars, and Neverwinter.

Sony systems have always catered to the Weeaboo crowd and I'm ok with that. Everyone knows what system to buy if you want that kinda stuff.

I fail to see the big issue here. Some of XB1's exclusives:

• Halo (FPS)
• Gears, Quantum Break (TPS)
• Fable (RPG)
• Forza (Racing)
• Killer Instinct (Fighting)
• Crackdown (Open world TPS)

I fail to see how it's missing so much. Granted, the XB1 has fewer exclusives than Sony or Nintendo, but it's not like there are gaping holes in it's lineup.

@XboxStache: yeah I forgot about the original xbox. I was just thinking more of the 360. The original xbox had a lot of variety in titles. Galleon was one I remember, I think it's called. I think that was the transistion era from cartoony platformers to realistic games so I think xbox 360 just went full on board with realistic shooters for the most part.

What games are better than sunset and Ori? I can think of maybe a handful. Super mario 3d world, mario kart 8, witcher 3, metal gear solid 5. I can think of a lot of shit that's worse....

Xbox doesn't have too many exclusives in general but they are usually quality titles.

MS has done a great job with diversity, their top 4 franchises are just so good, they get most of the attention, but MS has done great in delivering good diverse exclusives this gen. Much more so then competitors

Yeah the variety on Xbox has taken a nose dive since the original Xbox. Microsoft can't compete with Sony on variety. Maybe they shouldn't have let Rare go to shit. It seem as though Halo Gears and Forza would get stale after a while. I think Halo is finally running out of juice people are growing tired of it. Either that or 343 just don't know what the **** they're doing.

Well as we know, MS made the decision to drop core in 2009 to go upwards of 60% casual with Kinect. They've had to pay the 500 million dollar blunder down by release upwards of 40% of their X1 exclusives to PC.

I think it's a trickle down effect of the joke of the industry, Kinect(lol).

Right, it's kind of troubling MS to this day still uses the gears, halo, Forza mantra.

It's like they were really crippled when Epic and Bungie left to do their own thing, and desperately still try to hold onto that trifecta, with only one piece still being in full effect.

No offense, but I see four shooters, one rpg(their only one, really), a fighter, & a racer, of which they've done multiple spin-off already.

Not much diversity if you want to be honest. MS has to find a way to assuage the concerns of diversity, it's one of the many reasons the xbox brand continues to do so poorly in comparison to Playstation.

This may have been true in the later part of last gen, but this gen, MS has a lot of games that aren't shooters and racing games. One of my favorite games on the system right now is Smite which is one of the first games of the genre to go to consoles. It has MMO's with Neverwinter and Fable Legends, it has Ori, Screamride, Dead Rising 3, and Sunset Overdrive. Then it has games like Sea of Thieves, Scalebound, Quantum Break, Recore, and Cuphead on the way. All of these games look very intriguing to me.

I'm sorry but I'd rather a console I own have Forza, Gears, Crackdown, and Halo as opposed to not having the option to play them at all. Forza, Gears, and Halo are 3 of the most critically acclaimed series of last gen. Yes Halo and Gears are under new developers, but they have hired people from Epic and Bungie and assigned them to these new games in the series. They may both be past their prime, but they are both better than what the competition Sony is offering. (The Order & Killzone)

There is a reason my X1 is getting way more play time than my PS4. Seems like all the games I want for the PS4 are now coming out in 2016.

When was the last Socom game released TC? Didn't Sony shut down that studio?

Tell that to the Sly Cooper Collection, the God of War origins collection, TLOU remastered, Gow3 Remastered, Killzone collection...and literally, the greatest aspects about those collections are the increased resolutions and framerate (yep, even the ps3 guaranteed 60fps at 1080p), trophies, better controls, exclusive content such as "The making" and so on...and what does Microsoft have?

Halo MCC, which I tried to play again not even 2 nights ago and the multiplayer on Halo 4's end was DEAD! If it's not DEAD, then it's stuck "Searching". Gears Ultimate looks damn near the same, the multiplayer sucks, it's still a Gnashfest. Rare Replay wasn't even remastered lol.

I think it has to do with the Xbox console cycle, 360 started strong and began to wane in the second half. Add to that a poor choice in leadership. Don was so busy making time exclusive deals and trying to sell non gaming content that Xbox kinda became stunted. It's why I regret trying the 360, lack of first party growth. Xbox One admittedly gives me hope for the Xbox brand, but at this point I'm not gonna hold my breath till Phil delivers. I dunno I just don't has Xbox begun to grow again Killer Instinct says yes but it's just one first party IP revived will we see more time will tell, hold off your judgement till the next E3 or two
