You can't even fallow your own arguments PC troll zeeshanhaider.🤣
@pc_rocks said:
Really? Because I remember you admitting you don't know the base frequency.
I don't know YOU DONT EITHER so claiming it would go under 2.23ghz requires a link proving so.
Several developers speaking to Digital Foundry have stated that their current PS5 work sees them throttling back the CPU in order to ensure a sustained 2.23GHz clock on the graphics core.
If the GPU is sustained at 2.23ghz what is the gap?
Now i don't know the base clock as been establish right? But i do know boost can be sustain as long as the CPU is hold back a few % en frequency,so to make your point is very simple find me a link from DF or developers stating developers will chose CPU over GPU and you will have my acceptance that the GPU will drop.
Because the way i see it 2.23ghz seem to be the sustain speed on the GPU which imply 10.28TF.
Is also nice to see that you care about the xbox since you know this is a xbox thread, about lemings over blowing the gaps which if you WERE a true PC gamer you would know, but we know who is a real PC gamer here and who isn't zeeshanhaider.🤣
A 12 tflop and a 1.3 tflop system will be playing the same games for a few years. Yikes. PS5 is gonna kill it with actual next gen games more than likely at launch. They also know their console exclusives are gonna suck or be nonexistent for a few years until those new studios finish their games. PS5 is going to be the much better choice this holiday for at least a few years. I can't predict after that but I'd venture to say if there are any advantages to either system, we'll definitely know by then.
You're the kind of guy that would suggest developers make games exclusive to the RTX 2080 ti because allowing the peasants who use lowly GPUs such as a GTX 1060 or even a GTX 1080 are not worth addressing.
That's how twisted your argument has become in your efforts to defend the PS5. It's a vastly inferior piece of hardware, just let it go. The Xbox Series X will be a lot more powerful, learn that.
@i_p_daily: What 3rd party games come to xbox but not PS? Maybe theres a couple but not nearly the amount that go to PS and not xbox. My source is https://www.spieltimes.com/original/godfall-everything-we-know-about-the-first-ps5-exclusive-title/

I linked you the OFFICIAL site stating and I quote
"PlayStation 5 & Epic game store HOLIDAY 2020"
So the official site out does the links you have, unless you want to argue with the people making it???
There are third party games that Sony money hatted to keep off of the Xbox this gen or are you going to argue against that also?
So you're saying its ok for the PS5 to skate by for the first year or two with third party games while having little of its own???
I know you're trying to tow the company line but geez dude you're making a mockery of yourself in the process LOL.
EDIT: I just saw your edit and fucking hell its LOL worthy.
i don't know i believe spiderman 2 will be out in it's first year and so will horizon 2. gorilla games has said they been working on he second before the first game went out the door and was going to be a ps4 game. but now shifted it to be a ps5 only game.they also confirmed it will be online multiplayer open world game. out of the dev words saying the world is gigantic. and for spiderman 2 the developer team has said they been working on it since the first one went out and the ps5 was an easy shift to develop for from the ps4 that it is going smoothly and also has leaks of which bad guys are in the game and miles will be playable character as well. they been working on these for few years now. so even if not the first year they will still have previews of these games at launch to get people hyped for it. they also said they have redone the web slinging in the game already.
besides we don't know what sony first party is working on. except for sucker punch and naughty dog. only 2 of them are working on a ps4 game. the rest are working on ps5 games.
im sure they will have ps5 versions of ghost, last of us 2, god of war, and other ps4 titles to hold people off at launch because alot of people still have not played these games.
not saying the series x will not have game neither but there will be plenty of things to play on both system at launch. plus we don't know what xbox first party is working on except hell blade two and forza.
only difference the series x will not have next gen only games until they drop last gen consoles.
in the end it's a win for that person and which system they have bought.

Too bad for your beloved PS5, XSX has 25% extra video memory bandwidth over RX 5700 XT.
Your beloved PS5 is not a magical device to overcome the 448 GB/s memory bandwidth wall.
@i_p_daily: I'm not talking about just Sony studios. Many studios this gen released their games on PS and PC bit skipped xbox completely. Godfall is one example of a game releasing at launch that isn't on xbox and will be a timed exclusive, later being ported to PC. I guess we'll know more about games this summer but we do know that xbox will share its library with its weak 2013 model for a few years.
the cross-gen games for Xbox Series X will only be 1st party and that will only be for the 1st year or so.. Which basically boils down to Halo Infinite, Forza Motorsports 8, and maybe one more title.. basically launch window games..
and since you're apparently not talking about just 1st party, i hope you realize that 3rd parties have the exact same ability to make Xbox Series X exclusive games that aren't cross-gen just like with the PS5..

1. I already told you XBO has unable performance due to non-transparent 32MB ESRAM usage.
PS4 vs XBO
1.84 / 1.32 = 1.393939

I'm consistent in TFLOPS difference since 7970 vs PS4.
4. I already told you X1X GPU has improvements beyond TFLOPS e.g. ROPS with 2MB render cache and 326 GB/s memory bandwidth.
5. WRONG, COW FARTS. XSX has 25% higher memory bandwidth for render targets and 18.2% higher TFLOPS over PS5 GPU (best case with throttled CPU usage).
It's well known RX 5700 XT's TFLOPS is gimped due to 448GB/s memory bandwidth since the performance results didn't scale from RX 5700.
I'm sure the 9.2Tf PS5 will do just fine overclocked to 10Tf and it will warm your entire home in the winter. And you can always buy a 3rd party aftermarket cooling fan for it.
Given what history has shown, I'm going to go on a limb and say that there won't be much difference in third party games comparing PS5 to XSeX. We may occasionally see games that do something better on XSeX than on PS5. It's more powerful but it's up to the devs to take advantage of it.
That said, Sony has a confirmed great first party lineup that can harness what PS5 has to offer and blow minds. Microsoft has bought studios recently and we'll see what they come up with but they have an equal advantage in harnessing the extra horse power of the XSeX to blow minds.
Graphically, I feel hardware is going to be showing diminishing returns so I'm not expecting ground breaking graphical achievements on either system. They'll both look great to be sure, but I feel lightning and physics improvements will be the benefit of this next gen.
Ray tracing has a huge impact on performance YES OR NO?

1) Are you happy with ps5's power?
2) If ps5 had been more powerful, would you still be downplaying the difference?
3) Do you feel more upset since the deep dive?
In answer to your question, I said "real deal" because there were rumours of a 12tflp console which turned out to be true, while the 13.2 tflp rumours for ps5 turned out to be false.
WTF.
1-Completely specially for what this machine will probably cost.
2-No i would have not downplay the difference, but that is not the question YOU should be asking, you should be asking if i would over BLOW the the difference which i didn't do already proven with the PS4.
3-Again explain what you mean by deep dive, you love asking question you just don't like answering them.
RUMORS = True now? Rumors are Rumors, other put the machine at 9.2TF but that ISNT true but i don't see you quoting lemming who claim it.
It sucks that the PS5 GPU and CPU can go below the boost speeds. Imagine the effects this is going to have when more next gen games are on the table. Sony may have to overclock the PS5 AGAIN.
You're the kind of guy that would suggest developers make games exclusive to the RTX 2080 ti because allowing the peasants who use lowly GPUs such as a GTX 1060 or even a GTX 1080 are not worth addressing.

Is just 18.3% behind in GPU power how can that be consider VASTLY is beyond logic.
And is this kind of pathetic arguments why this thread exist.🤣
The gap the PS5 has with the xbox is the same the 5700XT has with the 5700 1.8TF and at 4k the gap in performance at the same settings is just lol worthy.

(1.0 memory bandwdith difference + 1.25 TFLOPS difference) / 2 =1.125 <----- close to frame rate difference.
RX 5700 XT vs Sapphire RX 5600 XT Pulse
9.66 / 7.89 = 1.22
69.4 / 58.6 = 1.184 <---- closer to TFLOPS scaling from RX 5600 XT Pulse.
Power doesn't come from your bandwidth it come from CU and speed, your bandwidth is what allow you to exploit it,and it work different depending the setup you have.
This is no secret which is why even with less bandwidth Nvidia GPU still beat AMD ones.
So you can argue the PS5 maybe will not be able to exploit all its power, but not that the power gap both have is bigger.
So again 1.8TF mean nothing is just barely 6FPS on 4k in many games pedending how demanding the game is in FF15 the gap is 3FPS man, even if the PS5 has bandwidth issues that gap would not probably reach 10 frames even less problably.
By the way RT has a huge impact on bandwidth as well,so the more the xbox use it the more it becomes a problem, specially with the asymetrical memory speed on its shared pool.

Lol!
Post like this one...
Were you were on la la land the xbox version of COD ghost was 720p and 1080p on PS4,BF4 was 10FPS average faster and was 900p while the xbox was 720p.
Look how you downplay those paper specs..🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Wait what on 2013 it wasn't about graphics it was about gameplay..🤣

@tormentos: Deep dive was Cernys ps5 presentation. Thought that was pretty clear, seeing as most reported it as the "PS5 deep dive"
With the xsx reveal, it wasnt just the tflp figure that was the real deal...it was a concerted effort to leave no unanswered questions.
We found out about full BC with X1, and hundreds of 360 and Xbox titles, whereas we still dont know how many ps4 titles will work on ps5 at launch, and we're pretty sure it doesnt support ps3, ps2 or ps1 games.
We found out all joypads and peripherals will work on xsx, whereas Sony haven't discussed this yet.
Gamepass will work day 1, and now we've just heard it will involve Xcloud as well....again, no mention of psnow on ps5.
Xsx will support Dolby Atmos out of the box whereas ps5 has 3d audio which sounds incredibly over complicated... to the point of Cerny admitting they dont know how they will implement it.
Ps5 loses 125GB of space compared to xsx. Faster, yes...but you're going to be needing added storage before the xsx, and theres none available on the market that fit, and no company has announced they are supporting it yet....Sony are not producing expanded memory for their own console.
Hell, Sony haven't even shown us what the thing looks like.
Like I said, the power difference has never dictated which console I bought...especially when theres just so much more going for xsx currently....i hope for your sake Sony deliver.
This is the thing that is obvious to most; you admit you wouldn't downplay a power difference in ps5's favour...yet it angers you when people dont downplay the added power that the xsx will have. Why?
It sucks that the PS5 GPU and CPU can go below the boost speeds. Imagine the effects this is going to have when more next gen games are on the table. Sony may have to overclock the PS5 AGAIN.
Oh clever ill wait for confirmation on developers side that GPU power will be trade for CPU power.
Na if they didn't do shit with the Pro while been 45% behind and MS did nothig while been 40% behind i don't think it will weight in much.
But now that you came here do you have any theories on how the xbox can magically increase its power, you now been a developer you must know, obviously without breaking any NDA..

Name one game that combines variable-rate shading, sampling feedback and raytracing tier 1.1.
Man you are a disgrace you can even answer a direct question pathetic.
Minecraft RTX Performance: You're Going to Need a Beefy GPU
With the beta in hand for the past week, we can say that you're going to need a powerful rig to run it well. And that's withDLSS 2.0 enabled—the Deep Learning Super Sampling algorithm that upscales lower rendering resolutions to help boost performance by 70% or more. Turn off DLSS and framerates will plummet, particularly at higher resolutions. You'll need something from the very top of the GPU hierarchy to do 1440p or 4K at 60 fps, in other words.
@Pedro: It'll be interesting to see how developers tackle game optimization on a variable-yet-fixed system.
I have a little software development experience and one of the great things console development was the fixed environment and knowing what you had in the box. Meaning you can code things in a way knowing how fast the CPU and GPU were and could optimize around it.
PCs just brute force it's way through it......but you could always lower settings.
My question is how developers target the system. Would they have to develop with lowest clocks in mind? How many devs will choose more CPU power? What role will thermals play with smart shift since it performs a thermal check before shifting power? How limited will ray tracing be since its dependent on CPU and GPU? It gets tricky to code for on a fixed spec system

Why do you hate xbox so much?
Thanks at least that clear something.
BC on PS5 will probably work with all PS5 games, you people were just holding to a comment of cerny were he talked about the 100 most played games but he never claimed those would be the only available and after that make clear it would not just be 100.
And? Is not like the xbox one supported 360 and xbox games on launch, worse the PS3 was compatible with thousend of games from 2 generations and lemming didn't give a rats ass.
In fact the lemmings favority song for the first 3 or 4 years of the PS3 life that the PS3 has no games,i guess BC didn't count back then.
It was a powerful sound systemand like anything with power it can eat to much bandwidht that was the problem.
Yes it has 125GB less but also more than double the speed. You will not need it that is totally dependant on game size, how many games you own and so on,and considering sony claimed that the vastly increase in speed will lead to smaller game size because they will not need to have redundant data all over the HDD will help allot.
In the xbox series X case what will that be 1 game more than the PS5? Yeah that is a deal breaker.
I see this as another hipocrisy moment from lemmings, what date is today May 4 2020,by this day on 2013 the xbox one was still a secret while the PS4 had been shown on February 2013.
https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-22613948
I didn't see many lemmings cry about it here when MS didn't show its machine for MONTHS.
By the way it is been rumor than this month they may show it in an event, but again is a rurmor.
So tell me once sony unveil all what will MS has going for it? Because from what i see people base all its opinions on what sony hasn't show,i am sure that when they do show you will find some other reason to downplay what ever they show.
Because at this point what is hurting MS more is what is not know what sony has under the hand, this is a Playstation console we are talking so yeah games are coming, features are coming and info will come.
It is obvious that you are trying to spin your way again, the question is would i over BLOW the gap,not is i would downplaying it.
Downplaying would mean if lemmings come into threads and claim the gap is 10% or 8%,now lemmings would be downplaying the gap, what they are doing is over blowing the gap turning a 18% gap into a 30% or more gap that is totally difference to what you are asking me.
So again did i blew up the gap between the PS4 and xbox? No i simply corrected many lemmigs who DOWNPLAYED the gap,is funny back then 40% was nothing this time 18% is the new cloud that never stop giving.

Is funny how you nare not a fanboy but you always find a way to try to downplay the PS.
Now you wonder is developers will have to code with the lowest clock in mind.
So tell me what is the lowest clocks?
Man with so many info on DF i find pathetic that lemmings have to keep hearing the same shit over and over again, the PS5 doesn't drop frequency on thermals,it does so on power requirement.
As console work know they run constant frequency and allot power to variate, sony will run a constant power and frequency will variate based on a power budget which both part have asigned.
What you are doing is creating artificial pools to sink the PS5 in.
If by any chance the xbox had a variable rate like the PS5 its GPU would probably reach much higher speed and its TF count would be higher to.
He hates Microsoft because they are in direct competition with his worshipped Sony. He's never owned a non-Sony gaming system in his life, and he attacks anyone who says anything that doesn't show Sony in a positive light.

By the way is not me making pathetic argument and incresing a 18% gap into someting that is not.
I am happy so far, lots of people thought a 12TF console was a pipe dream, but they did it, they've even showed the hardware and put it in hands of industry people. In just a couple days we'll be seeing a game event showing off some of the third party line-up, and another for first party titles in a few weeks. Developers are even promising free game upgrades when users switch to new system. If anything Xbox fans have every reason to be excited, and they are.
Probably a more likely answer to the topic question can be found here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_projection
"Psychological projection is a defense mechanism in which the human ego defends itself against unconscious impulses or qualities (both positive and negative) by denying their existence in themselves while attributing them to others."
@sealionact: Interesting... I didn't know hellblade 2 was gonna be an XSX exclusive(plus pc). I thought they said their games were gonna be on current gen systems for awhile? Good to know though. That means XSX will have a true next gen exclusive at or near launch.
@tormentos: "It was a powerful sound systemand like anything with power it can eat to much bandwidht that was the problem." No, that wasn't the problem. The problem was Cerny seemed unsure how they were going to make it work. He said (Paraphrasing) "Right now, the people that have used 3d audio say it sounds slightly better than standard Stereo. We still trying to work out how to tune it to everybody's individual ear which is when you'll hear the benefits...maybe you'll send a video of your ear to us, or maybe a photo."
That was the problem. How is that supposed to excite people? The prospects of hopefully 100m people sending in pictures of their ears so Sony can tune 3d for each individual person is laughable.
"BC on PS5 will probably work with all PS5 games, you people were just holding to a comment of cerny were he talked about the 100 most played games but he never claimed those would be the only available and after that make clear it would not just be 100."
No, once Sony cleared up Cerny's mess I understood that a) Most ps4 games will work on PS5. Not all, and not when. b) BC for ps3, ps2 and ps1 is so far not on the table.
"And? Is not like the xbox one supported 360 and xbox games on launch, worse the PS3 was compatible with thousend of games from 2 generations and lemming didn't give a rats ass."
We're not talking about X1 nor ps3. I want to know what my next console is capable of...let's try and concentrate on that.
"I see this as another hipocrisy moment from lemmings, what date is today May 4 2020,by this day on 2013 the xbox one was still a secret while the PS4 had been shown on February 2013."
Nope. Ps4 was not shown in February 2013. It was announced, but Sony didn't reveal the console until June 2013...one month after Xbox One had been revealed....but again, we're talking about next gen here.
"So tell me once sony unveil all what will MS has going for it? Because from what i see people base all its opinions on what sony hasn't show,i am sure that when they do show you will find some other reason to downplay what ever they show."
MS will have what it is offering going for it. We already know it has more power, better BC, Gamepass which will by then include Xcloud, more than a dozen 1st party studios yet to reveal games, a policy of Crossbuy which Sony has ignored for years and Play anywhere games. Sony have yet to match that, and have shown little ambition in trying.
"Yes it has 125GB less but also more than double the speed. You will not need it that is totally dependant on game size, how many games you own and so on,and considering sony claimed that the vastly increase in speed will lead to smaller game size because they will not need to have redundant data all over the HDD will help allot.
In the xbox series X case what will that be 1 game more than the PS5? Yeah that is a deal breaker."
More of another straw on the Camel's back than a deal breaker. Much like the power difference...on it's own, not enough to convince me but when you pile on all these straws... Another small reason for me to prefer an xsx, or at least wait until Sony announce who is making their memory expansion card.
Tell me if I've ever overblown the gap. Those that have talked about the differences here have put it at between 18 - 30%. I don't see anything wrong with speculation, and I don't think any of those guesses are ridiculous. Point is, it won't be the other way around...and even if it was, PS5 still hasn't shown me any reason to buy it apart from a couple of games (God of War and Uncharted).
You getting angry at people who genuinely overblow the differences is bizarre...it won't happen, so why worry?
@sealionact: Interesting... I didn't know hellblade 2 was gonna be an XSX exclusive(plus pc). I thought they said their games were gonna be on current gen systems for awhile? Good to know though. That means XSX will have a true next gen exclusive at or near launch.
I mean, that's the official word right now; developed for series X, available for series x and PC. No mention of X1...but....it is a smart delivery title which could mean there is an x1 version coming. I don't see the issue if it's developed for series X. I'm assuming it will be 4k 60fps with RT or somewhere thereabouts...removing RT, lowering the res and framerates makes it available to more people. Win win for more.
That's cool but for the 15th time, where are the sources for GDDR is better than DDR for CPUs?
You can't even fallow your own arguments PC troll zeeshanhaider.🤣
@pc_rocks said:
So, you don't know or do you know that it will never go down below 2.23 GHz? If it's latter than I have to repeat my question.
Also, for the 16th time, where are the sources for GDDR is better than DDR for CPUs?

Hahahaha change of tune..lol
Please link me to were any developer has stated that the GPU will be hold back to get more CPU speed that would surely prove your point.
Because i proven mine for now.
The CPU is been hold the GPU sustain 2.23ghz so what is the gap?
I already posted a link proving my point and you have nothing Latency mean shit when there is abundance of bandwidth and higher speed which GDDR or any new ram with faster speed and higher bandwidth has again ddr5 is coming with MORE latency faster speed and higher bandwidth.

@tormentos: "It was a powerful sound systemand like anything with power it can eat to much bandwidht that was the problem."
No, that wasn't the problem.

1-
"GPUs process hundreds or even thousands of wavefronts; the Tempest engine supports two," explains Mark Cerny. "One wavefront is for the 3D audio and other system functionality, and one is for the game. Bandwidth-wise, the Tempest engine can use over 20GB/s, but we have to be a little careful because we don't want the audio to take a notch out of the graphics processing. If the audio processing uses too much bandwidth, that can have a deleterious effect if the graphics processing happens to want to saturate the system bandwidth at the same time."
"We're beginning to see strategies for game audio where the type of processing depends on the particular sound source," say Cerny. "For example, a 'hero sound' (by which I mean an important sound, not literally a sound made by the player hero) will get 3D object treatment for ideal locality, while the majority of the sounds in the scenes go through Ambisonics for a higher level of control of sound level. With that kind of hybrid approach, you can theoretically get the best of both worlds. And since both of these are running through the same HRTF processing at the end of the audio pipeline, both can get that same marvelous sense of presence."
2-Well will probably work with almost all games, now do you own 4000 PS4 games?
Because that is about the only way i can see this been a issue, the xbox 360 support on series X is broken, the original xbox even more broken, man i know having something is better than nothing but this is a lol worhty argument, the only reason lemmings hold tied to BC is because they see it as a ADVANTAGE NOW.
If sony came and say you know what we have full BC with all PS man non of you will even dare go there, same happen with cross play and now no one cares.
But new gens are about NEW games not about old ones and is not like my PS4 will stop magically working either.
No you want to exploit about the only advantage you can find on xbox to try to make it look better, meawhile the switch and PS4 without BC kicked the xbox ass with ease.
Now as you can see apparently not everyone is desperate to play old games on a new system.
3-But everything was KNOWN only the model was the only only thing missing, but again on this day in 2013 the xbox was not unveil period it was a mistery not only the machine all details what was know was know because some one leaked MS specs.
In fact MS even deny the leak specs told people to now believe what they read online, only to confim eveything that was leak on the net.
4-So 18% more power,a some more BC games, gamepass will not be 1 dollar on xbox series X i am sure, and we don't know what sony will bring next on tis service remember after Gamepass is a copy of PS now without thye streaming, wait so you are SO desperate that you are couting unannounce games how do you know they even exist without been anounce?
Wow this is Epic...😂
Sony had cross buy before MS did,and sony even had game sharing again before MS even think about it,just because some games are cross buys doesn't mean all are by the way,the vita and PS3 die so cross buy stopped,it was just the PS4.
5-Yeah because you NEED it to be convince to buy an xbox, you already made your mind it could have been 1.3TF like the xbox one was and you would buy it period there was no need to convince you,you didn't need convincing you need it an excuse to JUSTIFY your choice.
You will wait until you know who will make sony expansion card.😂😃🤣
You don't read man for real sony will not use propietary ssd like MS will, sony will allow 3rd party PC ones you need one fast enogh, and before you cry mind you when the xbox 360 was alive MS basically had its on propietary drives and they were much more expensive than PC ones.
$100 for 20GB with that i bought back then 100GB to 120GB on PC side which is what the PS3 used,so i don't have much faith on them been cheap.
Well guess is OK to claim from 18 to 30%,so can i do the opossite i think it will be between 18 and 10%.
After all look at the 5700XT vs 5700 both have a gap of 1.8TF the same as the PS5 and xbox series X and on FF15 the gap is only 3FPS more man, this is great and since lemmings don't present any avidence of 30% i don't have to either is a win win for me.
@tormentos: "You will wait until you know who will make sony expansion card.😂😃🤣
You don't read man for real sony will not use propietary ssd like MS will, sony will allow 3rd party PC ones "
I think it's you who doesnt read...or understand. Sony is using a 3rd party proprietary ssd. You do know that PC ssd's wont even fit in the ps5....right? You do know that ps5's requirements are very specific, including the actual shape of the drive?
That's why I said that we have no idea who is making the drives...no-one has announced they are supporting it yet.
"5-Yeah because you NEED it to be convince to buy an xbox, you already made your mind it could have been 1.3TF like the xbox one was and you would buy it period there was no need to convince you,you didn't need convincing you need it an excuse to JUSTIFY your choice."
Lol, I dont need excuses to justify my choice....just reasons. If ms released a console that was less powerful, and had an inferior BC policy with a controller that I didnt appreciate, along with a more expensive game service like psnow that I thought to be inferior, and ms didnt tell me about peripherals working on all consoles, failed to explain how the sound will work or if there will be crossbuy....I guarenfrikkintee you i would get the other console.

Okay, so you're saying you do know then in that case what are the base or as DF calls it core clocks for PS5's CPU and GPU? Why did Cerney refused to answer it when asked point blank?
In case you still have difficulty understanding it, what's the lowest the clocks can go on each component to compensate the full clocks of other?
Lastly, for the 17th time, where are the sources for GDDR is better than DDR for CPUs?
@sealionact: Where are you getting this information that the PS5 will require a proprietary SSD and connection? I have not read anything to suggest or anything implying such.
@Pedro: From Cerny, though I didnt say anything about the connection. They do need to be Sony approved, and specifically fit the slot physically.
Edit: just reread, and although tormented and I were talking about ssd expansions, it might look like I meant the internal ssd. I didnt.
"We will be supporting certain M2 SSDs," Cerny confirmed. "These are internal drives that you can get on the open market and install in a bay on the PS5. They connect through the custom IO unit just like our SSD does, so they can take full advantage of the decompression, IO co-processors, and all the other features I was talking about. Here's the catch though: that commercial drive has to be at least as fast as ours. Games that rely on the speed of our SSD need to work flawlessly with any M2 drive."
The stock PS5 SSD reads at 5.5GB/s, while most PCIe 3.0 M2 SSDs on the market today hover between 3GB/s and 4GB/s. However, Cerny and Sony expect PCIe 4.0 SSDs capable of speeds of up to 7GB/s to be readily available by the end of the year. These are the kinds of drives PS5 owners will need to purchase if they want to expand their SSD storage, but only specific drives will work. Additional drives NEED TO FIT the PS5's installation bay, for one, and the internals also need to be compatible.
"Right now, we're getting M2 drive samples and benchmarking them in various ways," Cerny explains. "When games hit beta as they get ready for the PS5 launch at year end, we'll also be doing some compatibility testing to make sure that the architecture of particular M2 drives isn't too foreign for the games to handle. Once we've done that compatibility testing, we should be able to start letting you know WHAT DRIVES WILL PHYSICALLY FIT and which drive samples benchmark appropriately high in our testing. It would be great if that happened by launch, but it's likely to be a bit past it, so please hold off on getting that M2 drive until you hear from us."

Absolutely nothing you stated indicated or hinted a proprietary drive. Requiring drives to meet specifications does not make it proprietary. They are using existing standards but have a higher performance requirements. So, your previous statement about the PS5 using proprietary SSDs is false. And verifying what drives would fit is a non issue.
@Pedro: That depends on the physical bay doesnt it? If its unique to ps5, then its proprietary surely? A standard PC ssd wont fit even if it matches requirements for access speed, and that was what I was getting at.

Correct but what will be an issue is if you buy a PS5 at launch you won't be able to expand the memory at first. Eventually you will and since it will require such a fast drive, it will probably be more expensive than the XsX proprietary SSD at first. Especially if you want a large SSD.
A few years into the gen this won't matter as an M.2 drive that beats PS5 drive specifications will be much cheaper. However, was all of this even necessary? What is the advantage of going so fast on the SSD so as to make it expensive and incompatible only to gain a few seconds in loading? To me the XsX solution clearly makes more sense. You can always put a faster and larger SSD later if you need to with a mid gen refresh.
@Pedro: That depends on the physical bay doesnt it? If its unique to ps5, then its proprietary surely? A standard PC ssd wont fit even if it matches requirements for access speed, and that was what I was getting at.
If it doesn't fit in the bay then it doesn't fit in the bay. That doesn't make it proprietary. We don't know about the physical size restrictions are, so anticipating its going to be an issue is just speculation.
@tormentos: Yes I validate that you're stupid, you're welcome.
No it validates that you care about power since you are always in thread about power but claim you don't care that the equivalent of eating shit while claiming you don't like it.

Ah so Xbox is not allowed third party but Sony's PS5 can rely on them with little to none first party games for the first couple of years. it the PS4 all over again lol.
PS...Godfall is not a PS5 exclusive and getting "ported" later on PC, where do you get your FACTS from???
#doublestandards
If the game on day 1 is not on any platform but the PS5 it is an exclusive, irrelevant of hitting PC latter like FF7 is,when the game comes out on other device yeah it stopped been an exclusive.
You do enjoy eating shit don't you, i'm just getting tired of feeding it to you. When will that pea brain of yours understand that I don't care about da power, I care about making fun of you cows for the lack of it.
As for your exclusive explanation, why the **** are you telling me for you muppet I showed in my link that Godawfall is not an exclusive as stated by the devs of the game, go tell your fellow cow josh.
And now that's done, time for some more mocking lol...
