I doubt it,people still talk quite a bit about Arma 2 and with the massive popularity of DayZ a ton of people were now exposed to the brand and actually got into it,and considering this one is a massive improvement over the last one and the franchise as a whole is getting pretty huge you´ll be hearing about Arma 3 for quite a long time after the release.
The Arma name has gotten really popular.
[QUOTE="lostrib"]yeah when games like COD win everyyear....Too much of a niche game to win GOTY
SNIPER4321
I don't think CoD has won GOTY in a while, definitely not at gamespot. Â But yes, it is a niche game, directed at a very specific audience, so it will not win GOTY
This video pretty much explains it all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=2XdK9xhJyH8Jebus213
A totally indifferent game is GOTY ?

You should be excited,it features your country after all,it´s the only good thing about that bottom feeder, europe´s toilet country in quite a long time. :)[QUOTE="loosingENDS"][QUOTE="Jebus213"]This video pretty much explains it all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=2XdK9xhJyH8MrYaotubo

[QUOTE="Jebus213"][QUOTE="Nanomage"] You mean the controls that have been greatly improved from Arma 2 and that everyone is raving about because its so much better now...and it´s still in alpha?NanomageI don't have a problem with Arma 2 controls. They were quite a bit clunky, though still pretty easy to master with a little effort,so far Arma 3 has improved on that department quite a lot.
I'm glad, ill have to check it out then. Thats the big reason I didn't like Arma 2 when I love slower paced tactical FPSes. They went for so much realism in arma 2 that it detracted from the game. In terms of realistic but still fun game mechanics, I think America's Army 2 perfected that. I love realistic games and simulations, but it still has to be fun, and arma2s obnoxious controls were'nt really fun. Arma 2 is like the only game made utilize goro's extra hands
It's sad that mainstream games get the most attention when the less-known games are better games.

Even when it's completed it won't be the GotY.Â
It will be a fantastic AAA quality game, but it's just not *that* good. There will be better games this year. BI is doing everything right with ArmA 3, but it's not going to be the best game this year.Â
Or that popular.Even when it's completed it won't be the GotY.Â

It's actually been suprisingly popular despite the beta status. I'm expecting a really healthy community.

Well, I meant popular as in popular enough for a GOTY award. I know the game will be popular on PC, just not in general way.Even when it's completed it won't be the GotY.Â

Out of curiosity - how would you rank the series?
I think OFP with expansions is still the best in series, with Arma 2: Combined Ops in 2nd place and Arma 1 in last.
From what I've seen, Arma 3 has a good chance to outmatch Arma 2 in every way but it remains to be seen if it will top the good old OFP.

Of course, I think GameSpot was the only one who gave it GOTY but still.

Yeah,GS was the big exception as far as DS was concerned,it wasn´t even RPGOTY in the huge majority of gaming sites/mags,that went to Dragon Age. In fact, one of the main reasons as to why the whole DS bandwagon started was because GS gave them that award. The average person doesn't realize DayZ is an expansion of ArmA 2, as retarded as that sounds. That may very well be,but the almost 2 million people that had to buy Arma 2 and Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead to play DayZ certainly do,and that alone is already a huge number of awereness, not to mention that Arma 2 Combined Ops has been in the steam top sellers for months now,Arma 3 still in alpha was in the top spot for a week and it only went to third now because of the Anno sale and Bioshock, but it will get back up there soon enough most likely. Edit: It´s back on the n.1 spot again now.[QUOTE="fadersdream"][QUOTE="MrYaotubo"]

And this isnt even taking into account the hundreds of thousands that are certainly aware of it through youtube videos, since quite a few of them are massively popular and almost invariably inform that you need Arma 2 and OA to play it.
Probably shouldn't quote me, I was moderated for that comment. Offensive use ofone of those last words... which must never be said again.Or that popular.[QUOTE="DragonfireXZ95"][QUOTE="Wasdie"]

I'm not. I expect it to get hermits all excited, pirated like crazy and disappear before anyone knows its gone. Have a nice day.[QUOTE="Wasdie"][QUOTE="DragonfireXZ95"] Or that popular.fadersdream

You can't play Arma online with a pirate version and online play is somehow the "meat" of this series.
Of course only a fraction will keep playing it "hardcore" (i.e. with teams and clans and whatnot) while most will leave it for other games, but that's normal to happen.
