Why can't gamers accept the Xbox One X is a good console?

I'm not talking about which console is better or trying to start a debate about exclusives ect - my question here is about people's attitudes.

Now that the X1X has surpassed expectations, gotten off to an extremely strong start in sales and beaten the PS4 Pro's launch week figures, why do many gamers continue to ridicule and dismiss it as inferior? It can't be because of the tech or performance power nor can it be about a perceived lack of exclusives since that alone doesn't make it a bad system. Someone is obviously buying it. Are we to understand that they buy it just to hate it?

So, what is it? Why can't people just be happy for their success and admit that Microsoft made a good console?

I just don't understand it. Is it just sour grapes? Is that REALLY all it is?

Inferior to what? i'm pretty sure we all agree it is the strongest console right now and a total joke compared to a high-end PC. And it is nowhere close to what lems were hyping it up to be.

I strongly disagree. Exclusives are the only reason I spent time with my consoles. The xOne X is the first system I do NOT buy, because I can get everything on PC. So to me, a console without exclusives is worthless. And Ia ctually welcome it. I hate that games are being held back by consoles, a world with no exclusivity would be a dream.

I'm sure some uninformed people do buy it because they are afraid of PCs and I'm pretty sure they're happy about it. Nothing wrong with that. There actually are lems who think the xOneX is awesome.

The power of that consoles forces us into a defensive Mayweather like state... Our only option is to counter and run.

It has no exclusives. All the games it has can be played better on PC, since Microsoft didn't deliver on their whole "True 4K console" thingy.
There is no point in owning a X1X.

Exclusives are pretty much the one thing a console could have over a PC lol.

Well I've seen some people make reasonable posts, I mean people who are not Xbox fans really, and we are in System Wars. You have to remember how user comments and reviews go, you'll never get unanimous opinions on anything on the internet. Some of the hate is from haters, they are just against Microsoft and Xbox and that will never change, so that is one thing to keep in mind. But overall I think the reception seems positive, and the media reviews are pretty good, and most importantly a lot of users who own one seem happy.

Obviously a lot of users are just posting their genuine opinions, not for them for whatever reasons. As far as pure trolling is concerned, I'm not even thinking of this board, the Twitter trolls make the trolls here look like amateurs. I mean I've seen dedicated Twitter channels that just promote negative Xbox news, that is all they do. So trust me, it's better not to worry too much about what you'll see, some regular criticism and some it is honest, some of it is not....that will never change even if Xbox becomes Market leader. Even the best products out there have their constant haters out there that's the internet.

A semi-new system with higher specs did not solve the problem. Instead of addressing the problem they tried to cash grab again with a new shiny toy. foh make Fable & Scalebound. And Crackdown 3 looks like Borderlands 2 on my PS3 wtf

I will say it is a good console if either has better CPU or good exclusives. For now is just a half ass console. I mean the pro is a half ass console as well but at least PS4 family has really good exclusives.

It's an unbalanced gaming machine with no exciting, new IP's on the way that are AAAE/AAAAE material........

1. 4K no care. I'm a hardcore gamer so i play on a small monitor, much better than a big TV. 1080p is perfect for me, dont care about 4K. Did you guys know Noob of Duty pro crimsix plays at 720p? lol

2. It has no freaking games! I only bought it for backwards comp. You know the days when Xbox had console exclusives? The Mass Effects, Bioshocks, Dead Rising (when it was good). Eventualy it lost them but hey, 360 had a decent start! Xbox one is same old Forza Gears crap i dont care about for years.

3. PS5 is coming. Yea like in 1 or 2 years no joke. As in a true next gen console, not something that struggles to 4K original X1 graphics.

What is the X for? Does it run Horizon Zero Dawn? lol. To play casual ugly looking Ass Creed at 4K or something.

It could be a good system. It just needs exclusives that incentivize people into purchasing it.

I would've purchased one already but the games that interest me are also on PC or PS4.

It's a solid system. Not running PUBG in a decent state is embarrassing. That game has been out for almost a year and they still can't optimize it on a new platform let alone the original one.

The library. It has no/not enough worthwhile games to play that you can't find elsewhere. A console should have something you can't get anywhere else, or else it's unnecessary. Quite simple.

Except for when the PS4 launched with lousy exclusives and only had price and power on its side for a solid 3-4 years.

Then it had only bloodborne for one whole year. Then it had Uncharted 4 for one whole year.

Weren't the expectations 4K/60 from the Xbox camp? Hell even regularly 4K on ultra settings? Yeeaaah, I'm gonna say it fell waaay short of that.

Isn't it sold at a loss? Wouldn't gamers prefer the most value packed into a box at launch? Like it or not the OneX is testing the market for what is to be expected in terms of launch price. By the time the next generation of consoles arrived the market will be saturated with $200 ps4s. So the question is, do you think Sony would risk jumping from $200 to $500/600 for a ps5(taking a loss) or play it safe with a box that costs $299/399?

The UI still chugs and loads longer than the Pro. Microsoft still doesn't get regions. Also, my game settings shouldn't be tied to my region settings. My paypal doesn't work, and unlike ps4, I can't use my bank card.

It has the same issues the previous models have. It's just stronger. I still prefer Sony's systems this gen.

It's the Greatest Console Hardware ever built not just in Specs and Performance but in Form Factor and Engineering Quality too.

Now all MS has to do is get back to making a Diverse high Quality library for Xbox.

@Starshine_M2A2: I think how over hyped it got for 1 1/2 years didn't help things. Not sure if you were old enough back when the original Xbox came out, but that had way more power than PS2. People acknowledged it but didn't seem to care much because PS2 had the games they wanted. I also think no exclusives for the Xbox one X or Xbox one in general (on PC also) has hurt the reception. Most PC gamers I know have a PS4 and a wiiU or Switch as secondary consoles because they are basically forced to if they want to play certain games. Xbox really needs that must have game that makes use of X's power, that isn't held back by the base Xbox One. Forza 7 looks good but so did drive club... Doesn't mean much on a racer. Cuphead, Ori, crackdown 3, sea of theives doesn't push the X at all.

We wouldn't have to have this debate if MS actually invested some resources into having an exclusive when the system launched that demonstrated its capabilities. I may be the biggest XBox hater on this board, but they make it easy. It would be more fun to me, but the truth is, it makes me angry that they let down their fans so much. All some of you do is just defend this abuse rather than ask MS to do more. It's not my fault for not accepting sheer mediocrity for the sake of tech specs. Not when the CPU is a goddamn potato.

The X is an awesome bit of kit... anyone who says otherwise is delusional. Yes it needs more 1st party games, which is supposedly happening, but even atm it's still an impressive piece of hardware.

And those saying that it's sh*t compared to a high end PC, that's such a dumb thing to say. Of course when you spend ALOT more money on something, it's going to be "better". Such a dumb argument.

Sorry, but literally none of this is true.

My point is, people were patient with sony but for microsoft, it's time to bring out the torches and pitchforks. Wii U had exclusives and they said that wasn't enough. It just seems people move the goal post to fit whatever the new defense is for their favorite system. I like PS4, but it's slow launch was maybe a little too slow.

When has "most powerful" made a console "good" in the past?

Takes a bit more than just "power"

Look at the past 3 console gen winners:

PS1 - Weaker than N64

PS2 - Weaker than Gamecube and Xbox

Wii - Weaker than PS3 and 360

Same thing with handhelds:

DS - Weaker than PSP

3DS - Weaker than Vita

Outside diehard haters people tend to consider the X a good console.

Disagree, people who can't afford a PC or don't have the expertise to build or manage one, would definitely be in x1x market.
