They're making profit. They've broken even a LONG time ago. I think it's something like 200 dollars for every console.MADVLAD123Umm didn't you hear the news a week or two ago? Microsoft's game division lost a heck load of money. Due to increasing the 3 year warranty and they expect to introduce new parts like the 65nm to cut costs of manufacturing.
Sony has higher losses tho... And they diden't give out a 3 year warrenty. dudy80sony isnt the point. read the topic.
are you serious?
it's called the business model that both sony and ms are using.
so far, sce has lost over 2 billion on the ps3 at only 6 months on the market....
ms will see a profit waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before sony ever does on their console...;)

Not really since its PS2 is still turning profits.
SCE reported 2 BILLION in losses at only 6 months...
you may want to do more research...;)

Sony is what? Cant you stay on topic? The fact is MS isgoing to lose money due to the 3 Year Warranty. Will it lose tons? Depends on how well your product last. As for me, I've already had to replace my 360. The new one I have now gives me Disc dirty errors. I have a feeling MS is going to lose tons of Moo la.
yeah ok thanks for the laugh  thats if 500,000 x360s don't scumb to the three red lights....are you serious?

They're making profit. They've broken even a LONG time ago. I think it's something like 200 dollars for every console.MADVLAD123MS makes $200 for every 360 sold? Any source to back that up because the last I heard was the it was $75 for every console. That would be quite a jump and I'd expect more then a $50 price cut if that was the case. Now, I guess you can call that profit except for the fact that MS's gaming division is still in the hole by about 6 billion. Just like Sony and it's 2.7 billion at the moment.
The 3 yr warranty is one step short of a recall. We all know that MS will never do a recall. None of the console maker will do a recall cause that will look really bad inthe media. So they do a patch like extending the warranty.
It will be interesting... if they problem presist and they have to extended it into a 4 yr warranty.
Oh, and the 3 yr warranty only covers the red rings of death. If was a 360 owner, I will sell my 360 once the warranty is over and get the 65nm version when it appear. I am assume the 65nm version would not be faulty.

MS lost 6 Billion since the launch of the first Xbox in 2001. Their first Xbox only lasted 4 years while the PS2 is coming on 8 years. The 360 will last until 2009, then MS will make a whole new console again...and you'll have to pay MS again and again and again and again.....
The PS2 is still making the most money out of any previous generation console. The PS3 will last well beyond 2012, when MS is on their fourth console.

Just shows how much they want to fix problems and improve their console. They made lots of money, and spent more money for the betterment of the 360.
It's not hard to understand.
tell me why. i find it hard to believe that they can't make a profit considering their over-priced accessories $100 for a 20GB  the microtransaction ground of xbox live, and its games generally sell well. you know why im not buying a 360? becuz it would end up taking my money in a subtle way, ask yourself this xbox fanboys, how much have you spent on your 360? with all those ridiculous and over-priced microsoft points, and the seamless amount of downloable content on the marketplace?progenitorvirus
