OMG you're so right, that explains why I was at some anonymous mans house last night drinking with these other guys I would'nt consider friends. Oh wait and then I went with these guys to an unkown party where I met a bunch of other randoms. But you see, none of them talked to me becasue i'm an antisocial Hermit right?

Man you're so right, I dont have any friends.

keyword most.

It's funny how nearly all my friends are hermits too.

When company is over, games are the last thing on my mind.

So this just fails miserably.

mo0ksi

TC is prolly still a young boy, friends usually live next door or a few blocks away.

PC gamers are generally a bit older (it costs more too, kiddies cant afford it), and adulthood friends usually live far away. Meaning if a friend come over its a special occassion, and no we dont sit behind a lame console to play games with them.

I am being a bit shortsighted, like TC.

Spilt screen. Its the funnest part about gaming. I mean who wants 2 play games by themself all day. id rather play with my friends then play by myself. And also coop makes games so much better and no pc game has that. I mean when u play games on pc u always have 2 take turns who wants 2 do that. if u have more ten 2 frends over who the hell plays pc. oh lets play crysis we can take turns every time somone dies.

loomlumloom

The only game I'd play with friends sitting next to me is Brawl. And that isn't even split-screen.

And seriously, is looking at a screen half the size of your TV really supposed to be fun? It gets even worse when you divide them into quadrants... Say hello to blindness.

another opinion thread. so what if pc has no split screen it sux when you can lan and have the whole screen to yourself without your friend checking where you are get an advantage. gears on pc has coop, r6v has coop and any console game that has coop the pc version also has coop. how do you place split screen with 5 or 6 people? if you have money you could have a gaming room all ready for you 10 mates to play games all day. split screen plain sux once you are used to lan.

Hot chicks aren't interested in guys who group up and play a game on consoles either, your point?

PC gamers have friends?robflores370

Yes, we have friends, but unlike you guys they don't have to be gaming partners to be considered "friends".

Which is why most developers have snubbed local multiplayer almost completely this gen.. Only the Wii is a true 'social gaming' console.

Yet console gamers get exited with a certain thing called 'online play' and 'local area network' play.

Grahpics dont improve 'at a cheaper cost'.

The hardware doesent improve.

Developers learn how to work around the constraints better.

...which is the same on PC... hence why games like Sins of a Solar Empire look spectacular on older hardware.

OK let me try this again, Have graphics not improved from original Xbox to the 360 or the PS2 to the PS3 ah Yes! They do improve and they improve through the life cycle of that console. Software companies get better and programming for them... So yes they do improve fail number 2

This cant be said when comparing the resources a console requires to produce the same graphics as a pc counterpart. I doubt that Far Cry 2 will look and run the same way it does on the 360 if you have a 300 dollar PC.

What are you talking about?

I said split screen aka local multiplayer has been snubbed by console developers for online play.... I would know as its one of my favourite features in console gaming, and only a few games still stand as great split screen ones.

Of course online games = social gaming, I meant the Wii is primarily focused in social gaming in a local context - hence why I said local multiplayer.

There is no fail, no try again and 'my friend' eh? :?

We'll have to see the differences between hardware variations and the console versions of course. The quality of the port is also a factor.

Really their isn't how many consoles have you heard of piracy 0 to none! It is way easier to download illegally on a pc then remake a harddrive console to get games illegally that way..

Its not nothing compared to PC piracy at all. Its not as large - of course, but its an issue. Even devs like Rockstar were hit very badly by piracy, and companies like Nintendo have been waging war against mod chippers.

Of course this is not factoring in pre owned games sales as well -even Bungie thinks it is a major problem.

However of course piracy is more of a problem on PC, doesent mean games dont sell very well.... e.g. orange box outselling the 360 and ps3 versions combined by 'double figures'..... Or Bioshocks sales being pretty much on par for each system (2 million total).

u know there's no reason why splitscreen wont work in PC. I'm really confused why they've taken the option out. I think some old games used to give u split screen option. especially now there are more people who use their PC as media centers, it would be good of developers to add that feature back in.

You dont remake a hardrive.

You can softmod or hardmod your Wii or 360...

Its also legal here, and plenty of consoles likes the PS2, Wii and 360 are chipped here - by the many modders around. Personally im still yet to chip a console, though I do have a Dreamcast boot disk, when I bought it second hand.

No but look at all the articles on pissed off devs who do go multiplat to make up their loses on piracy on PC. It is hardly ever done on console and thats why those devs jump to that platform it's much more safe! The may sell well (on PC) but they do lose a lot of money because of this issue...

Devs go multiplat because of major development costs, that is the major issue. The devs that have called piracy can use it as a scape goat to hide behind. Im not saying its a factor, but when certain developers cite it as an 'issue' yet other pc developers like GSC (who are vritually unknown) have a new IP and it breaks 2 million sales, something is up.

Of course just becasuse a platform is 'more safe' doesent mean that games are automatically going to sell better at all... There are many costs involved in console development, and its much more difficult to get your game out there. Besides both are completely different styles of market anyway.

STALKER selling 2 million proves that any dev that whines about PC piracy needs to look into mirror and wonder if their game was any good in the first place? Original games sell on PC, rehashed trash doesn't. That's the way it goes, any dev that wants to sell crappy, unoriginal games (Epic Games) needs to go multiplatform, and they need an excuse for that - and piracy is a perfect excuse for them.

Well heck what I've read up on about it is yeah some do "secretly" love piracy! It can help the sales of their hardware. But most Developers Hate it! MS has went out of it's way to prevent it....

Yet Crysis Warhead was still a PC exclusive... Hmm.

I guess they were expecting 5 million+ sales. 1.5 million is pretty damn impressive for a game that no PC can max out today. And also, PC games sell for a LONG period of time. People are still buying Diablo 2 and Starcraft for example. Unlike console games, which sell like crazy for few months and then no-one buys them anymore.

as the person above you mentioned. Conole games sell like crazy in the first few months or in the year it's released. Sales go down after that. PC games are sold over a LOOOOONG period of time.

That's friggin' Grand Theft Auto. It's one of the most popular game franchises out there, and GTA IV was hyped and advertised A LOT. And it's multiplatform.

What's your point? Console games sell more? Of course they do. Does that make them better? No.

online play is where its at. But split screen is the whole attractiveness of a console. Buddies coming over and playing gears co-op on split screen. Can only do that on console alone. So if its dying, I guess i wont be getting a console in the future.

well it's not dead yet. But you can see that both Sony and MS are focused on online play. not so much on splitscreen. Which is a shame.

The future for splitscreen is not looking good imo.

(dunno about Nintendo though)

However of course piracy is more of a problem on PC, doesent mean games dont sell very well.... e.g. orange box outselling the 360 and ps3 versions combined by 'double figures'..... Or Bioshocks sales being pretty much on par for each system (2 million total).

No but look at all the articles on pissed off devs who do go multiplat to make up their loses on piracy on PC. It is hardly ever done on console and thats why those devs jump to that platform it's much more safe! The may sell well (on PC) but they do lose a lot of money because of this issue...

What!? I know about five of my mates that have never brought a legal Xbox game in their life.

Grand Theft Auto IV raked in more than $500 million in its first week in stores, selling more than 6 million units worldwide

Now thats impressive! That was just the first week! And they still sell copies of that game! And thats just one!

So I don't get you logic??

jasonheyman

The GTA franchise dished out a lot of titles before making it really popular.

GTA4 has a massive marketing campaign while being cross-platform at the same time. You would think that it would sell that much with its popularity.

Pretty unfair comparison to STALKER and Crysis, games that had very little advertising.

I consider myself mainly a consolite....and even I think splitscreen sucks.

I hate sharing a screen.

If i'm gonna game with mates, i'd rather they stay at home and we can play co-op via XBL.

Sports games are ok though as its all in the same screen.

and then things like rock band

Still, you said that there is no piracy. Which is false.

Really their isn't how many consoles have you heard of piracy 0 to none! It is way easier to download illegally on a pc then remake a harddrive console to get games illegally that way..

ps2 has huge piracy, go to vid store, hire game is just as easy as downloading it. x360 is fully cracked so every gameever made for it can work illigally. the fact is consoles have basicly as much piracy

I think it's more common to Pirate anything on PC. Beacuse it's easier to gain acces and less of a hassle compared to consoles. My opinion might be dated though. feel free to correct me.

there is no point in even doing it, nothing but a waste of time, consoles have huge priracy problems just sony and ms don't want everyone to know about it. google mod chip and see how many mill results you get. mod chip and every single game every made for the console will work without paying for it. every pc game has to have a crack and there are pleanty of console games downloaded as well. your average joe wouldn't have a clue how to pirate a game wheather its pc or console, but pc gamers tend to know more so don't buy the average games, if you had lots of hardcore console gamers they would do the same.

I bet the orange box has outsold halo3 this year. you still haven't told me how many gta4 sales there were in sep, sure many console games sell well but not a year after their release, stalker, cryisis, counter strike, tf2, cod4 etc are all still selling well on pc
