Why do 360 owners buy so many games??

That is because the Wii comes packed with Wii Sports. Also, already 7 million Virtual Console games have been sold, and those aren't represented in the sales.helium_flash

Considering it's emulation and the price difference, even as a heavy contributor to VC Dling, I wouldn't even want them to be represented.

every month the software sales say that 360 games outsell wii games and ps3 games combined.

now there are about 15.5 mil wiis, 6.7 mil ps3s, and 14.2 mil 360s.

thats roughly a difference of 7 million between PSthrii and 360, so how is this even possible? and does it affect game development?

They outsell Wii games because you can easily finish a 360 game in your lunch break.

Bigger older user base, make it like this, it is been released for two years, the other two are one year old, that's reason number one.

Reason two, because it is "double the user base of PS3", for sure it will sell more, check multi-platform games sales between the two consoles, the PS3 is increasing with more units sold, but still it has half the sales of every recent game released.

I've excluded Wii software sales because everybody knows the majority of buyers are casuals and most popular multi-platform games didn't come to the Wii because of hardware limitation unfortunately.

Third reason which is also obvious, 360 has two years of great games, the competition's library is less than the 360.

The real challenge for 360 is next year, next year will be the real battle between the systems.
