Why do a bunch of people hate halo?

It's Microsoft's baby. Halo WAS the Xbox (1). If you discredited Halo, you discredited the Xbox. Although the X360 has many more games besides Halo, the hate stuck.

However, there are those who gave Halo a chance and actually dislike it. But that's not why you see 10+ threads a day hating on it.

I think the big difference is that the dislikers are so vocal about it. Why do they have to point out these ''flaws'' when it doesn't really matter.

Birds Fly, Fish Swim, and Haters gonna Hate son. It's a great game, that just happens to be popular that isn't for EVERY GAMER. The close minded can't accept that it is a quality series that just happens to be popular. It's one thing to not like the game because it doesn't appeal to you. It's another thing to cry, moan, complain to the high heavens about a game you don't like. It's equally as annoying as being a fanboy of a game, except it's the opposite. You a hater.

Because its a popular high scoring game that not everyone are able to play.

I believe it's more of the older gaming community that doesn't like it. The younger gen thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread. The older community has experienced many better fps gamesthen halo in the same environment and setting so it didn't make us whoo like the younger gen.

To be fair though, Foxhound, a lot more people mindlessly hate Halo than genuinely dislike it for legitimate reasons, like you do (while I disagree with your opinion).

I would like to assume this wasn't directed at me, because on the flipside their is the air surrounding the game where people who dislike the game dismiss anything the series done right just because they don't like it.

The trend I've noticed is if you grew up with Half Life, Quake, or Doom, you don't care for Halo. If you grew up with Goldeneye or Perfect Dark, you love Halo. :PGuppy507

And of course it does. I for one have always supported that Halo as a series was instrumental with popularizing the console shooter genre with the casual "joe gamer" audience, beyond merely just the Doom/Quake "nerds." It does some things right (like taking everything that worked in other shooters from before and integrating them into a polished package) but unlike what many Halo fanboys might have a lot of people believing, hasn't "revolutionized" anything.

There aren't many shooters these days without recharging health/shields, dedicated melee attack button, and a dedicated grenade button. There may have been games before Halo that had these (I can't think of any off the top of my head), but Halo made them successful.

I think when it makes sense (i.e, in Halo) recharging shields work very well. However, it makes me sad that everyone has jumped on that bandwagon and no one seems to want to use any other system.

I've never played any of the Halo games, but I wanted to know why some people hated it some people hated it so much.

I have to admit that Halo is an awesome game, but it isn't the best thing ever. There are a lot more games that are worth paying attention to.

But that doesn't change the fact that Halo has made a huge impact. Plus, many people like the changes that have been made because of Halo.

I sort of agree with you. I don't necessarily think it ruined the genre. The genre still has plenty of great FPS's (STALKER and Half Life for example), it's just that now the market is flooded with Halo clones.

A possible reason as to why people hate halo is that most of the "generic fps games" are derived from gameplay elements used by halo and Call of Duty 2.

I also blame IW when it comes to MW2 as well.

ODST is overpriced. Maybe It's an expansion, they usually don't cost as much as full/retail games either

The main reason i would say is, its a overrated series. Halo is fun, i have played them all(Working on H3 campaign now) but its not as good story wise and graphically as lets say KZ2. Halo as a series gets more praise than it deserves.djsifer01
