Why do developers even bother with Sony anymore?

Sure the 360 has been out 1 year longer....but even still 29 v. 2...that's pathetic on Sony's part.

And Sony only has maybe 10-12 games next year (their killer apps) that may break 1 million sales....

the PS3 versions most likely didn't, but when you put the sales on all consoles together, then yeah I think so.

Because they're the company that has a 100 million unit track run for two console generations and the only company that was capable of penetrating Nintendo's lock on the handheld market.

Sony may not always win, but they control a good amount of the gaming industry.

Because they have longer memories and forethought than you do.

and no they didnt penetrate nintendos lock on the handheld market gba sold over 85 million units and still is goin strong and ds sold over 30-50 million units and continues to out sell everything else taking the wii with it , sony was all luck 2 gens ,, i really cant say what the best ps game is because most never can out perform goldeneye 007 ,,, or perfect dark in fact goldeneye was top seller through out the generation , winning 1998 and 1999 game of the year awards

as for handhelds psp has done its best to try to penetrate nintendo but all those rehashes and ports doesnt help sony at all sony needs a steady stream of titles to catch ds off guard which wont happen any time soon

Sigma did not sell 1M. But yes, there are more than two games that have sold a million on the ps3. The TC is just going off of old facts but I think his question was legitimate. The fact is that games such as AC sold a higher ratio per userbase on the PS3 than they did on the 360... though the actual number of units sold on the 360 was more. This shows developers that there is a significant amount of potential in making games for the ps3 as the userbase continues to grow.

Fact of the matter is that the PS3 has sold approximately the same number of units as the 360 at the same time last year... but with much faster gains in Europe, Japan, and Other markets. So in the next year, if NA sales continue to improve, the PS3 could earn even more attention from devs.

Neither Resistance nor Motorstorm WERE 1st party. Motorstorm as of today is 1st party but not at the time of the games release.

The higher ratio per userbase is most likely due to the fact that that PS3's library is small. With the smaller library, games like AC have a very good chance of selling well on the "ratio per userbase".

The PS3 has around 4 maybe 5 million+ sellers. Motorstorm and Resistance for sure. Also COD4 and assassins creed. And maybe ninja gaiden sigma(maybe). last ihear it was at 0.5 million but that was like4 months ago

Hopefully ratchet, heavenly sword, and uncharted could get 1.0 million +. Its pretty sad actually. So many great games and no ps3 owners buying them. I think cows take reviews to seriously

Actually acording to VGCharts (Wether you feel they're trustworthy or not) Call Of Duty 4 has sold 1.33m (PS3) and 2.80m (XBOX360)

Assassins Creed has sold 1.35m (PS3) and 2.21m (XBO360)

Plus Motorstorm and Resistance have sold 2 million, so sales really aren't that bad ;)

It seems there are probably 1 million PS3 owners who play games so the 3rd party developers see them as a good market.

yes, they have broke a million as well. madden should be close to a million or more also after Christmas sales. anyway, devs are sticking with the ps3 b/c some of the ratio's are actually better on the ps3 than on the 360 (units sold/userbase)... the 360 titles sale more simply b/c it's userbase is currently larger. haze_blaze

lets compare that with the 360's first year. i think that gears was the only game to sell a million. thats half as much as the ps3

Part of that was meant for me.
I usually don't argue with people here, mostly because it's pointless and it's like talking to stubborn 14 year olds.

I said they penetrated the lock, which they did. They didn't win, but they did penetrate a previously impossible to breach market. Their handheld is the only one to successfully go against a Nintendo handheld and keep kicking. It's generated it's own fanbase and is still quite strong.
