Seven reasons why the VGA's are horrible.

1. Celebrity appearances. What's the point? They have nothing to do with gaming so why bring them up?

2. Stupid, unfunny and cheesy "jokes".

3. Reinforcing the video gamer stereotype one year at a time.

4. Leaves games made in Japan out on purpose.

5. MUSICAL PERFORMANCES.

6. Only nominates popular and mainstream games.

7. Only the popular and mainstream games win the awards. If you could even call them awards.

It's all just more crap that tries to make the gaming industry into Hollywood. I'm not content to watch game designers praise each other over modest innovation and highly successful sequels. Woohoo, more of the same did well? Indie game XYZ spent millions on marketing and got noticed? Fantastic, why don't we give ourselves an award?

Why don't we only give awards to games that have lasted longer than three years and still receive support? Why does a game like Brawl get an award in its launch year and then, a few years later, no longer have online support? Why does a game like MW2 come out, and then two years later its replaced while the original creators are fired and sued? Is that what our industry is supposed to look like? Is that fun?

They don't even have a category for strategy games or fighting games or other less brotastic genres either. But they still manage to have 2 categories for sports games. And it might aim to be a cheap knock-off of Oscars, but is more like the retarted and less funny cousin of MTV awards.

They only look at big popular games. To be apreciated as an art you need something like the Cannes film festival which expresses affection for truely artistic games that arn't just popular. Die Hard may sell a lot of tickets but that dosn't make it good art.

1. The awards have no credibility behind them compared to lets say, GDC. 2. The actual winners and nominees are predictable efforts. 3. The 'awards' are an excuse for teasers to be flogged as well as announcements; which no one makes no effort hiding. VGA's are ****Ing terrible in every sense. Videogames have better awards with a shred of credibility, than a joke of US cable network programming.
