lemmings always says its not needed now, but they dont know that PS3 has a projected of 10 years life span just like the first 2 playstations.

So lets say ps3 doesnt have blu-ray, sure games fit just fine this year, and when next year comes and games starts to fill dvd9 easy and not enough, so you will buy another PS3 but this time with blu ray

atleast be future ready, it may not be needed now but sooner it will be.

I don't understand why Blu-Ray is needed at this point. If a game is too big for one disc, put it on a second, no?

I'm not a lemming back I regularly side with them, but my view of forcing a new format into a gaming system which comes from the company that produced the console itself is just pitiful. I mean sony saw what the consoles did for the success of the dvd and is trying to remake this but make sure its there product that is in place of the dvd. They've not only done that but there stupid self-promotions of the technology are pathetic at best, yay we can hold more space, read at slower speeds, have to double data on disk to get steady data reads and even have to leave everything uncompressed to justify its need.

Yes blu-ray has potiential but it can't be taken advantage of this generation and devs know it, sony knows it and sony are at this point just bs there way into making consumers believe that its needed when its not.

Blu-ray is an unfinished format that was developed by a company that has little to no success in making a foundation media format like VHS or DVD. Blu-ray is not a foundation format like VHS or DVD, its a bi-product format like Super VHS or Mini-DVD and because of this its chances of surviving against a foundation format like DVD are next to impossible. Although it does have a chance of being the next-gen format if sony continue to develop it further and make its read speeds atleast 4x what they are now, if they could make it 8x or even 16x faster in read speeds it could quite possibly be a next-gen game media format for multiple generations but like I said the format is unfinished, it needs to be developed further and if done so it has tonnes of potiential but that potiential isn't right now.

As long as the case is normal size, the new disc comes into play after 5 hour incriments, and I'm not restricted based on the disc once I put a new one in. They will NOT raise the price above $60.

Nice choice in choosing Resident Evil 5, though -- the only game I'd buy a PS3 for if it went exclusive. (That and maybe Kingdom Hearts 3, though that's a stretch.)

You mean the Gamecube one? I believe one was extra content, not a part two of the game itself. Though I may be wrong, I only got up to the Castle in the Gamecube version. I do know the PS2 fit everything, plus the alternate Aida (sp?) story on one disc.
