Stop right there! Bioware have traditionally focused on PC development. It is only recently that they have shifted focus to Xbox development as well.
Whichever way you look at it, Mass Effect is a much bigger system seller than Uncharted.
i don't know what will sell more. but what i do know is that past ND console games have sold more than Bioware games. I know it gets old but...PS1 - over 100 million consoles.
PS2 - over 100 million consoles.
User base, man, user base.
Userbase is not everything; PS2 reached 100 million years after it was released so did ps1. And lets not forget that both Jak and Crash came out early in both systems life span.[QUOTE="thinicer"]I think that Mass Effect is too niche to be a system seller.Lilac_Benjie
Bioware have a much larger online community than even Gamespot. It's one of the largest gaming communities on the internet.
That's great, but that doesn't guarantee that it will be a system seller. Bioware is a great developer, no doubt, and Knights of the Old Republic, their most successful title, sold just under 2 million copies over its lifetime, but I wouldn't call it a system seller. Certainly not on the level of Halo or GTA. The game also benefitted a great deal from having the Star Wars name attached to it.
Jade Empire, however, didn't even reach platinum status in sales. It sold less than a million.
I'm not saying that Mass Effect will sell less than a million copies, I think it will do very well and reach two million copies sold and will be an excellent addition to the 360 library, but it is just too much of a niche game to move systems in a meaningful way. It may produce a modest sales spike when it hits, but by the time that happens it will be November and the holiday sales binge will be in full swing so it will be impossible to determine if Mass Effect truly moved lots of systems thanks to its existence, or if it was due to the holidays.
I think too many people here use the term "system seller" interchangeably with "quality game" and I think it's an incorrect distinction. It's only a system seller if the game alone produces a sizable spike in sales for a console that lasts over a period of several months or more. I don't think that Mass Effect will do that.
[QUOTE="ToScA-"][QUOTE="Adrian_Cloud"]Aren't Naughty Dogs the devs with a better track record in having less flops? Even without that its just not smart to discredit one game because of who the developer may be.Adrian_Cloud
I don't think Naughty Dog has a legion of fans.
Crash is a bigger name than any Bioware game to the general public. its like the mario of the playstation world.
Not since like Crash II...That's great, but that doesn't guarantee that it will be a system seller. KOTOR more successful then Baldur's Gate or NWN? I don't think so.

Not since like Crash II...yeah maybe is the playstation 1 days but now proplr consider bioware to be better and have you played the l;ast few crash games bthey arent good at all
[QUOTE="Awinagainov"]there it is.[QUOTE="Nagidar"]BioWare perhaps?cobrax75
they make great games, where every one builds on the last (JE was great)
also, uncharted doesnt look like its anything new
Bioware does make great games....no doubt, but generally they sell far less then they should....
and before people throw out KOTOR unto me.....you have to rember that KOTAR was on 2 platforms (though I guess its likely mass effect will be on the PC eventually)...and most importantly that KOTAR was a starwars game...Im a positive that that had a huge effect on sales.
KOTOR...Knights OF The Old Republic
I thought "KOTAR" was a typo...but then you did it twice, then I realized your just a fool.

thats because ND doesn't make Crash games anymore. They made 4 for the playstation though. And all of them sold between 7 - 5 million copies.[QUOTE="cobrax75"][QUOTE="Awinagainov"]there it is.[QUOTE="Nagidar"]BioWare perhaps?rappid_rabbit

Im not exacly sure what you are trying to say......
A title being a system seller has much more to do with its marketing than it does with its actual quality. If Microsoft actually made even a fraction of the effort to market and hype Mass Effect as they did Halo 3, then it could help sell some systems. As it stands, few sadly know about it, and its release isn't that far off.
As far as Uncharted, I'd bet on R&C moving consoles a lot sooner than Uncharted.

The thing with Uncharted is that there is some new territory Naughty dog is charting (no pun intended) though the platforming element will obviously be down-right set.ArcticSnake
LIES!!
that pun was intended. :P
