Why do Mass Effect have More Hype than Uncharted?

Advertising. Uncharted has only been advertised this last year. Mass Effect has been advertised since 2005.

Mass Effect will be a better game though, just because it's non-linear and a lot longer. Production values, story and setting I'd say they are even.

Expect ME to outscore Uncharted by 1.5-2.0 points here on GS.

I thought the critiscm of Mass Effect's graphics stemmed from its shiny characters not its "bland" enviromnments. I can't recall seeing any screens where the environments looked poor. But I do have to admit typically when I am looking at a ME image im marveling at the depth and emotions displayed on the faces. One last thing, In the image posted of Uncharted, doesn't it bother you that two of the enemies are identical? I don't get why games don't begin using a random clothing generator for enemies or something. Thats a complaint I have about most games, not just uncharted.

So as time went by, Cows game hyping confidence got lower and lower. I could've swore they hyped Uncharted to be AAA, but since the consistent flops, Cows lowered it to AA to be on the safe side.

Gamespot "hype threads" do not measure, at all, how excited the owners of console X are for game Y. They are simply a measure of what people expect Gamespot to rate it, and with the Aaron Thomas double-tap of Heavenly Sword and R&C, nobody expects much from GS reviews.

because bioware made it. dozens of planets to go to. 15 movies worth of dialogue. great gameplay. great replayability. very long.

Like others before me, I'll go ahead and say because of Bioware. They are the best RPG developer of the the past two generations. That's not even an opinion, its an empirical fact, if you check gamerankings you'll see their games consistently near the top of the RPG genre (higher than even Square).

cause Mass effect is longer better and looks more impressive...hel uncharted doesn't even take adavantage of blu-ray by not repeating textures...and models....they are constantly repeated!!!!!!!!! i didn't like the unchated demo, and i'll skip this sony game and just buy AC for my ps3 to get rid of the dust....warhawk only lasted so lomh

One game has massive depth and terrific story with character customization and RP aspects and promises 100+ hours of play with all sidequests. the other is 6-10 hours long, no character customization, no depth that i can see and a flimsy indiane jones-ish story.

Sure Uncharted might look good, but it would be just another platform game like Tomb Raider, etc. While Mass Effect will be one of the most epic RPGs around. Besides Mass Effect gameplay value will outlast Uncharted guaranteed!
