After all this time the PS3 is still in last place that is why. Devs do not want to spend million of dollors and hundreds of man hours making a game to put it on a console that has stayed in last place after several years.Eltroz
Several years you say? I could have sworn the PS3 was coming up on its second birthday and that it outsold the 360 last year and so far this year. :? Good thing I didnt swear then,*whew*.
The only reason Xbox has much of an exclusive library is because it came out a year earlier (thus having a year's worth of games by the time PS3 came out), and because it's easier to develop for (so games like Bioshock came to 360 first, and games like Left 4 Dead aren't on PS3 at all ATM). The lack of exclusive third party games is a rapidly growing epidemic as game development costs skyrocket, which is a darned shame IMO.
Remember back in the SNES and Genesis days? Yeah, there were multiplatform titles, but by and large the games we played were exclusive goodness, and that's what the playground debates circled around. Games back then were cheap to make, so publishers didn't have any problem designating exclusive libraries of games to each system. Now though, games a massive hollywood productions, and as such companies can't afford to limit them to a userbase of 16-20 million users. If games were still an economically safe investment, we would not be in this predicament.
Developers have lost faith in Sony and are now stabbing them in the back
(*cough cough* SE, Namco *cough cough*)
However, in a rare good turn of events for the PS3, EA has finally delivered on their promise and will use the PS3 as the lead platform. Read about it in my thread.
the 360 moves a lot more software than the ps3.If developers wanna make as much money as possible there games have to be on the 360 at this point.
Seriously this needs to stop if Sony wants the PS3 on the top.PC_X360
How come just about all of xbox360's exclusives end up on pc?
Seriously this needs to stop if Sony wants the PS3 on the top.PC_X360tell me one of the top 15 360 games that are not on the PS3 and/or PC... Halo 3? you can keep that 2004-look and crappy story, cheap disign (metal is easier that fabric) and lonly 16 players on-line. i remember a map add on with a description "for large teams" 8 is large? whats 20 on Resistance? whats 30 on Resistance 2? now really pick one... Grand Theft Auto IV Gears of War The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Braid The Orange Box Halo 3 Forza Motorsport 2 Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas Dead Space NHL 09 Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution Burnout Paradise Rock Band those are the top 15 of all time, tell me how far-ahead-360-is-nothing-but-good games-PS3-doesn't-stand-a-chance i really don't get it, i bought a PS3 (early 60GB 600EUR) so i can say i cloud aford any of the 3 systems, cuz its true, i pick the PS3 i and i'm not regreting... i guess in the end of this gen, and even if 360 sold more systems the PS3 will still have the best games, exclusive of multi plat, but the best. if you own a PC whats the point on have a 360? all the good 360 games end up on pc and i think XBL is not worth the 60EUR they ask for it, not by the long shot, you get all that on PC/PS3 for free...
Because Sony isn't top dog anymoreFFXIII360
This... and the fact that games cost too much to make so they need to recoup expenses.
Seriously this needs to stop if Sony wants the PS3 on the top.PC_X360
Because MS has the money to convince them into going multiplat.

Or maybe because the 360 is a success:|Right and Bioshock wasnt exclusive until Cows felt like making it for ownage. Offcourse, using that theory, the 360 gets another dozen or so exclusives:|Why are all of the 360 exclusives coming to the PS3?
This is a pretty lame arguement during a month that both Bioshock and Eternal Sonata are coming to the PS3, and they just happened to be two of the better exclusives the 360 had.

Well its a common arguement on whether or not PC/360 games are exclusive, but since most lemmings seem to think Bioshock is exclusive. Personally a game on PC/PS3 or PC/360 shouldn't be exclusive but system wars seems to have no real guidelines about this.
So either way Bioshock that was a game that the lemmings boasted because you couldn't get it on the PS3, is now on the PS3 whether it was exclusive or not.

No whats lame is when you try to ise Eternal Sonata in this argument. That was one of the most pathetic games I've played this gen. 2nd only to Uncharted...
If you are referring to Tekken, when did they say it was exclusive to the PS3 this gen? Everyone ASSUMED it was exclusive because it was on PS2.
The only times announced PS3 exclusives changed to multiplat are like Assassins Creed, DMC4, and FF13. I think those were announced as PS3 exclusives and then changed. Tekken was never announced offically as PS3. Even a year ago when I asked Namco sales reps they said they had not determined what platforms it will release on. Obvoiusly that was a hint they were going to be going multiplatform.
$, $, and $. Oh, and did I mention $? Were people going crazy like this saying 360 was losing exclusives when games like Saints Row 2 went multiplat?TheGrat1
No, and I have a feeling that when games like dead rising 2 go multi they won't either.
The truth is M$ exclusives consist mainly of First party, companies that only work on pcs (valve) and deals made early in the gen (GeOW, ME). So they don't have many exclusives that can be lost. And due to the massive dev costs this gen, paired with the relatively low and close unit count of bith platforms, there's no justification for a company to make exclusives games if they are not paid to do it.
That's why Sony's strategy of ramping first party production will likely be better in the long run than M$ strategy of buying exlusives and multiplats from 3rd party devs.
Honestly we, gamers, are lucky that most devs haven't decided to abandon 360 and PS3 and develop low cost games for the Wii huge userbase.

Dude, third party exclusives are slowly going extinct, plus, the only reason why you are seeing more SONY exclusives going multiplat is cause the previous gen (ps2 and xbox) ps2 had TONS of exclusives where as xbox had... Halo?
they don't. what ps3 games have actually been released, been exclusive, and then ported?CaseyWegner
In other words; if it wasn't on PS3 only at time of launch, it wasn't exlusive at all. Regardless of some 3rd party franchises being exclusive in the past (PS1, PS2), is not the grounds to assume they ever "belonged" to Sony.

Err no, Lemmings advocated the idea, it was rejected and Cows were happy at it. Now all of a sudden where Cows see fit they are using it to claim ownageWell in that case it turns into self-ownage because as a result the 360 magically 'gains' another dozen or so exclusives :|

Yeah i agree, Tekken 6 was a lost game, its never set foot on another console.Sony lost, MS gained. Oh well, everyone gets to play it still

You miss the point entirely. Tekken 1-5 never set foot on another console. Tekken 6 hasn't set foot on any console yet, but we now know will on PS3 and Xbox 360. So it has never been exclusive, only presumed to be exclusive based on the past.
Tekken past =/= Tekken present
