Why do people brag about console specs?

Seriously, historically the most powerful console almost never wins the generation. Price and exclusive games are some of the biggest indicators for success. Which puzzles me why so many people on this forum are obsessed about which console is more powerful.

I believe in over 3 decades the PS4 at launch was the only powerful console to win in sales, but if you count the XBX then that goes out the window.

If power is so important then why the powerful Galactic Empire cannot defeat the less powerful Ewoks in Star Wars?

I agree. Nothing to brag about when PC is always better. The fight for second place is funny though.

It's more of hobby to them. They enjoy having good stuff more than put a good use to it when it comes to the console itself.

Because console specs suck and they want to measure the dicks of their piece of plastics.

Considering Xbox has no games and TLOU2 looks better than every single game on the Xbox Pro. It's talent that matters, not specs. Ratchet and Clank looks better than anything shown on the XFlop Sex.

A shit PC is always worse than even current gen consoles. 'some' PC's are better, there isn't just one massively high end PC that all PC gamers own. I'll keep putting you straight on this as long as you keep posting this bullshit.

No I don't. Ps3 was the only console that outsold barely the 360, every other has been weaker and still beat Boobiesoft.

People often project their real-life insecurities and self-esteem issues into material matters as a means for escape and distraction from attending their personal issues. People with low self-esteem want to feel superior somehow, even if that somehow is meaningless.

A lot of people kit and race mopeds. Nothing wrong with it. All comparisons are relative. They are only insane when they try to argue it's "better" than a motorcycle because the motorcycle is more expensive

Or some people have nice cars that they never drive or big houses that they never live in. People want stuff, even if they don't have a use for it.

Power means a lot. For hardcore console gamers you always want the most powerful console so you can have the best version of games. Obviously we all know PC is the most powerful but many don't want the hassle or headache of upgrading and the cost. And who cares about sales we don't play sales on what system sells more that is a joke, 99.9% of people don't have stock options in the game company, so for anyone to say sales is important is pathetic. Anyone who downplays console power is lying and upset maybe their system of choice is weaker and maybe has inferior versions of games.

@blueinheaven: @sealionact: As I always say, what hardware each PC gamer owns is up to them. Their own personal preferences or limitations is not a limitation of the platform. PC has the best quality.

When I speak about PC, I speak of the peak capabilities of the platform. What settings people use and what hardware they own is a personal thing. The competition is for determining which is best. So, lower entrants do not need to be mentioned in the end result. There is a reason why a podium only has room for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Nobody really gives a shit after that. So, no need to mention shit potato PCs. The focus is on the best. :)

Like PC gamers with their fantasy hardware, like SSD drives that cost thousands of dollars and they'll definitely own.

@BassMan: Well, then you're ignoring one of pc's strengths....you can have any type of pc you want. Most people like a game or two on pc like me, and I have an old sbp 3 that just about handles football manager. Those pcs are way below even a humble x1x never mind next gen.

Pc is not "always better". It is for you, because I'm guessing you've built a gaming rig....even that wouldn't be better for me.

Consoles are better for me, and millions others for various reasons.

The discussion is about specs and quality. Not personal preferences, other strengths and weaknesses, etc..

I never understood the sales thing. I can understand the benefits of better hardware, the benefits of better exclusives, but sales? WTF? Why brag about that? It is silly unless you work for the company or have shares in the company.

Nobody's going to argue that a very high end PC will beat anything else for gaming but saying 'PC is always better' is just flat out wrong and it's a lie you always use to suit your agenda.

Also, price is a limitation of the platform if you want that kind of quality. I'll be getting a 3080 when they launch but I'm completely aware a lot of people can't or don't want to spend that kind of money.

The point is, it doesn't matter what choices gamers make there are caveats to everything you say and your constant elitist bleating is always contrived and misleading and seems designed to belittle people who don't have as much money to spend on hardware as you do.

It might be a barrier for some with limited budgets, but it is not a limitation of the platform. The parts are available after all. Whether people can afford them or not is on them.

If you want to talk price as a limitation, you should be looking at consoles. They need to be priced within a certain range for affordability and mass adoption. So, this limits the hardware that the manufacturers can put in them.
