Because after years of delays and unbelievable hype it turned out to be Ocarina of Time with better graphics.
You don't use any site other than GS on this board. It might of not flopped with overall scores, but just with GS 8.8 it flopped. Not by much, but it still did.
It was hyped AAA, even AAAA.... It got AA It's a flop. That doesn't mean it's a bad game. /thread.C-Lee
This.
Game was a flop, but it was still great.
If you had been here to see the shenanigans that ensued after the 8.8 score was dropped, you'd understand.

Yepp, the same goes to Heavy Rain and Alan Wake. :)

Yep, pretty much this.
Still was a very good game.

this
even if it would be AAA by the rating system GS uses now.
and its also notable that it only floped on GS
while it was the highest rated game that year on gamerankings and metacritics, it beat out Gears of war which got a 9.6 on GS, but a lower score on GR and MC

Some people hold Gamespot reviews in really high regard LOL!!!http://www.gamerankings.com/wii/928519-the-legend-of-zelda-twilight-princess/articles.html With 24- 10's, and 30- 9.5 to 9.9's How could that be considered a flop? I don't get why people hate on it so much. Is it just because this is gamespot forums and it got a 8.8 on here?young_link511
Gamerankings does not matter in system wars. TP was hyped AAA by nearly everyone (with some hyping AAAA) and hyped as the best Zelda of all time. Even Reggie Fils-Aime said it was the best. If I remember correctly, hardly anyone thought it would get lower than AAA. It is considered one of the worst flops on system wars.

Some people hold Gamespot reviews in really high regard LOL!!!Well, we are in GS and the hype was build in GS, so yeah, GS is the score that matters in GS forums.
Thats bull. Gamespot's score is not law. And an 8.8 is not a flop.[QUOTE="Cloud567kar"]

They are wrong in the idea we can't use other scores, as we can discuss other sources scores. GS scores do determing flops though -- scores lower than hype level determine the flop.

The official policies of System Wars currently dictate that only GameSpot scores count, however other sites are often used to attempt to predict GameSpot's review scores. SW sticky
That's a stupid rule. System Wars Monthly's scores are the ones that should count.Willy105
But those guys are a bunch of fanboys.
And in the end they delayed it even further just for Wii controls which ended up sucking anyway. Just the sword swinging. The items were vastly improved, especially the aiming ones. (I won the GCN version)[QUOTE="DillonShwing"]

So who decides what the score should have been in order for it not to be a flop? I refuse to believe Twilight Princess was a flop because a bunch of Zelda fans threw a fit about the game being .2 away from a 9. The term flop is grossly missused on system wars. The term is meant to describe something that significantly under performs than what it was expected to. If you look the word up in the dictionary it means to fail completely. A game like Too Human or Lair were flops. Twilight Princess is anything but.[QUOTE="lundy86_4"][QUOTE="vashkey"] Thats bull. Gamespot's score is not law. And an 8.8 is not a flop.

Flops are not bad games, they just flopped by not meeting hype.
I know the meaning of the word, and that is just the word that is used. Debating about the word makes little difference when that is the word that is and always has been used.

SW stickyThat just ridiculous. Leave your free thinking brains at home, kids, cuz Gamespot does all the thinking for you. Forget the other legitimate opinions and your own, because Gamespot's editors are apparently the only ones that matter. Pack up your bags, theres no need to debate here because Gamespot scores are the only ones that count.
Right.. Just with Gamespot. No where else did it flop. It's kind of funny really. It's like saying Joe Schmoe down the street says it Flop, but David, Johnny, Carol, Phil, Michael, Sally, Kenny and Rite all said it was a 9.0 or better. It's all just opinion. I don't take FLOPS on Gamespot seriously. You don't use any site other than GS on this board. It might of not flopped with overall scores, but just with GS 8.8 it flopped. So?Well... you see... that would be the problem.
Just means it's a flop on Gamespot, which doesn't mean much .blackace
Means a lot if you're posting in SW.
Because what constitutes a flop has little to do with the quality of a game. Flop means a game scored less than predicted (GS only), doesn't matter how great the game may be.sam_nintendoThis. It had the highest Metascore of any game in 2006 on Metacritic, but here on GS it was hyped AAA and ended up an 8.8, so I guess it technically is. The term flop is ridiculous though, I think Uncharted 2 was hyped AAAA (or so I've been told), and it's apparently a flop because it got a 9.5... it's a ridiculous concept.

Not to me it doesn't. I don't even bother with that nonsense much any anymore. I just check Gamerankings and Metacritic.com for scores and reviews. Then I judge for myself if I think the game is a flop or not.I think Uncharted 2 was hyped AAAA (or so I've been told.oldkingallant
Incorrect. It was hyped AAA.
), and it's apparently a flop because it got a 9.5... it's a ridiculous concept.oldkingallant
And incorrect. AAA games are never flops.
Because even though a flop is defined as a complete failure On SW it's a flop because it was hyped at AAA (9.0 - 9.9) and got an 8.9 GC and 8.8 Wii
So really, it is not a complete failure, therefore not a flop, but everyone on here will say otherwise. Because words don't mean what they're really supposed to on here. And by SW standards that is a flop for not meeting hype
Did it get hyped AAA? YesBecause even though a flop is defined as a complete failure On SW it's a flop because it was hyped at AAA (9.0 - 9.9) and got an 8.9 GC and 8.8 Wii

Did it live up to the hype? No
Therefore its a flop...Doesnt matter what a flop is defined as. In GS it was a flop

If it's hyped "AAAA" or "AAAAE" it can be a flop if it doesn't get that score. No game is ever hyped that high though, but it can be. Flopping the hype and still being an incredible game are two different things. For me, any games scored 8.0 or higher is a game I want to research and see if it's something I'd want to play.
