? huh? who disliked the shooting? are you making this up?It's some of the best I've ever seen in any game.....what's the problem?

Cos it's cumbersome and unresponsive. It gets better later in the game but at the start it's pretty sloppy
"shrugs", never heard of this complaint before, the shooting actually feels satisfying especially the shotgun and arrows
So it's only in the beginning. Â I can admit that it's a bit slow but I prefer the shooting here to any dedicated shooter made so far.[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]

i have not played it yet but from what i have seen in vids it looks great.
innaccurate and not very effective.
just like it would be if you had multiple monsters running at you.
looks almost like a sim.
maybe that why it gets on some peoples nerves.

Its interesting. From some conversations I've seen on the subject, it has been described by at least one person as realistic (or as realistic as you'll get so far in video games). This person said the gunplay's general feel matched what a person would be more like in a real gunfight, and said this was based on personal experience with it when they were living overseas. Take it as you will, but I found it an interesting take on it.[QUOTE="Chris_Williams"][QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]I didn't know Joel was a expert with guns He is isn't he?20 year survivor he should be.Cos it's cumbersome and unresponsive. Seriously though, people have been bitching that the shooting sucks and I don't see it. Â It's better than Max Payne 3.

Ok it's fine but it's nowhere near as good as Max Payne 3's gunplay. MP3 has THE best thrid person shooting

I never had a problem with the gunplay, if i missed it was because i'm trying to avoid not getting hit. Sounds like you just suck[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"][QUOTE="MirkoS77"]So it's only in the beginning. I think the intention was not to make the gunplay FUN so much, but to make it blend into the feel of desperation and survival tension that makes the overall gameplay work as well as it does. Because THAT is what I find fun in this game. Gunplay fun loss itself to enhance that is a good decision. At least that's how I see it. i see you still didn't got it yet ....what are you waiting for ?!lol, what people think they shoot like.
what they actually shoot like.
Riverwolf007
I haven't played it yet. Â I was on my way to get it and a friend said just wait and I could borrow his... yet he hasn't finished the damn game and now hes playing the new Luigi expansion.. ugh.
But from what I've seen it looks nice. Â I hope its better than the Uncharted games. Â I don't think they had bad shooting, but it wasn't exactly good either.
cuz you are firing old ass wasted used up guns and its also is meant to feel like you arent a freaking marksman sniper with 40 years of shooting experience. Yeah it gets better later on and you can all so start to upgrade them.Cos it's cumbersome and unresponsive. It gets better later in the game but at the start it's pretty sloppy

100% disagree.TLoU's shooting is superior due to one fact: getting hit affects the ability to aim and shoot back. Â The ONLY reason to avoid getting shot in Max Payne or and other shooter is to look down at the lower right corner of the screen to see how many first aids one has. Â TLoU penalizes you for getting shot by making you unable to shoot back for a brief period. Â Instead of the screen getting more red, Joel's ability to simply shoot is gone.
TLoU forces you to avoid being hit as much as it does hit. Â That's why it's better. Â What's the fun in a shooter when you can just spam the heal button when you are too incompetent to dodge incoming fire? Â Firefights should be just as much about avoiding getting shot as shooting.

i'm replaying infamous as evil which was free and i went out the other day and witcher 2 and  prototype 2 was $9.99 and i bought those.
i will get to it eventually but it will be months before i get it unless i just break down and rent it or something.
hmmmmm......no. TLoU aim was lot of sways. You just dont point and it aims straight forward, it moves around like in real life your hand isnt robotically locked on to the target. Uncharrted wasnt much for realism. In the TLof U you cant even get over an 8 foot wall with out assistance. While in Uncharted, you could climb a fortress/tower/hotel in 7 seconds.Never had a problem with the shooting. Feels just like Uncharteds

Whats scaling a wall got to do with shooting?
And I honestly never noticed the swaying ... so I don't know what to say.

i'm trying to see what it is like to be a late adopter.
i have either replayed old games that i already have or not paid more than $10 bucks for a game in over a year now.

damn you are cheap :lol:This game is like HItman, Manhunt, Splinter Cell, etc Your gun is your last resort. I used the bow and arrow more times than a gun to keep the stealth going. I have played HItman Absolution and the original 3. Once I learned to play it the gun was the last thing to use. thewickedgamer
Agreed. I only used a gun when it forced me to. I always used the bow as well, loved it. But mostly melee combat, it just felt so good :P

No complaints here, I love the shooting in TLoU much better than any other third person shooter solely because enemies aren't bullet sponges, you have rare ammo, guns actually feel like guns, and you appreciate each bullet since they're so rare and do so much damage.
And yes, I have played Max Payne 3 which also has great shooting for different reasons.

I did that for most of the game, but near the end you don't really have much of a choice, it gets hard.

Lets say during the end, I tricked my enemies using bottles and bricks to make them go one way and I go another to lead then into a neck snap or shiv stealth kill. Smoke bombs helped. This game reminds me of Daniel Craig's 007. Be reckless, ruthless, but at the same time use stealth, use melee, and don't be dependent on the gun. Use your wits. Please Log In to post.
