Because cows think all it is is an expansion. New characters, new 8 hour campaign, new multiplayer maps, firefight, new story, same old halo 3 multiplayer... ftw.
This is true. When people saw $40 and what was in ODST at that point, they thought it was an alright deal. But since they put the price to $60 dollars, no matter how much content you put into the game, some people will always say its to much money. Then on top of that people will argue its a rehash, etc.It was initially advertised as a $40 expansion, before it became essentially a new game. Obviously certain people will use this earlier marketing as 'proof' that its an expansion, when, like I said, its essentially a new game...

Because they don't think it's worth $60?InsaneBasura
But people are saying it directly related to how much content it has wihich is more than many games now.
Because it isn't?
It really is supposed to be an expansion, Bungie even said so, and it was also suppoed to be less than $60, I'm still getting it (mostly to try out firefight and the new play style), but I wish it wasn't $60. If I liked Halo 3 more I might have been more enthusiastic, but Halo 3 kind of disappointed me compared to Halo 2 and 1.

It's safe to assume that the majority of people interested in this have already bought halo 3 and have a gold membership. Now, what new comes on this disc that isn't on Halo 3?Also, there was no freaking reason to create this thread. Just talk about it in the other thread going on instead of spamming the boards.
I think it's worth it seen as its own product, since it'll have as much replayability as Halo 3 (same multiplayer component and people still love it, right?).
It's a valid point to say it's not worth $60 for Halo 3 owners, though, b/c the multiplayer is basically the same. Firefight's just a cheap add-on, I don't see it as a big addition.

But the majority of stuff on this disc is really old material. They basically just found a way to charge full price for old material.
[QUOTE="EndorphinMaster"]I think it's funny you don't see the massive, obvious difference. It's ironic how cows gladly paid $60 for Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, and $40 for a demo.

Show mw the money.
did you buy dynasty warriors: Empires for 60$?
did you want to buy Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Rocks The 80s, or Metallica for 60$?
[QUOTE="EndorphinMaster"]I think it's funny you don't see the massive, obvious difference. If you meant the single player part, they are equal length... (ODST vs HS, Uncharted, not GT) and do we have to mention it actually has online components as opposed to the other two?...It's ironic how cows gladly paid $60 for Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, and $40 for a demo.

The big difference is that neither Uncharted nor Heavenly sword had online co-op or a Firefight-like mode of play. No Theatre or Forge or any multiplayer at all.

Why don't you compare ODST with LBP's content, or Uncharted 2, or MGS4? -_- ..stupid fanboy...
Because it's fairer to compare games that have similar length and equal price tag?... What if I compare the value of HS/Uncharted to LBP/MGS4? Would you say their price tags were justified? If they were, why isn't Halo:ODST justified when it has similar SP + more MP contents?[QUOTE="Threebabycows"]

That firefight mode is going to see more then 30+ hours that's for sure.A normal length campain? For recent FPSes maybe, but anything that is under 25-30 hours isn't worth 60 bucks.
Yandere
I could have sworn they were basically advertising it like it was going to be an expansion of Halo 3. Also could have sworn someone mentioned the single player campaign is 4 hrs long and with the maps being copied from Halo 3.....how can you not see this as an expansion if that is true? You know you have a weak argument if you have to go to 1st gen PS3 games to make your argument. BTW, infamous took like 15-20hrs to beat (for me) so I'm not sure how that is a "normal length campaign".It has a normal length campaign, firefight, and new maps vs. Infamous:SP only, Uncharted:SP only, Heavenly sword: Short SP only.

This isn't halo3 though, its not even an expansion anymore, they have changed the gameplay, there is no regen health... completely different pacing, a sandbox world, i'm actually pumped about this, at first i wasn't really but now that i've actually been paying attention to it, it really looks good.[QUOTE="Threebabycows"]

If they were, why isn't Halo:ODST justified when it has similar SP + more MP contents? Honestly, do really think you should be comparing 1st gen games released 2 years ago to 4th gen current games? You really think that is fair? Uncharted 2 would be a better comparision. I don't mind using infamous because it's a new game but it also has 3 times single player length. How many games in existence (Other than RPG) has more than 25 hours of SP campaign? If you meant like sports/racing game career modes, those are essentially multiplayer settings with specific goal isn't it? No offense, I am just really curious because my recent longest game was MGS4 which was around 14 hours gameplay (minus cut scenes) in normal difficulty without a guide.A normal length campain? For recent FPSes maybe, but anything that is under 25-30 hours isn't worth 60 bucks.
Yandere
But Heavenly Sword, inFamous and Uncharted don't have the same length as ODST because they HAVE NO MULTIPLAYER. DesmonicHis point that people did not complaint about the price tag of those games, even if they had less content. You actually only backed up his point.

It isn't Halo 3 though but they felt it nessary to make the title "Halo 3 ODST"? Then the devs were saying it was an expansion essentially before MS decided they wanted to make more money off it.......now it's "a whole new game that is worth the price tag". I'm sure you also believe L4D2 is worth its purchase price.A normal length campain? For recent FPSes maybe, but anything that is under 25-30 hours isn't worth 60 bucks.

It really is 5 really short acts that are about, 1 level long... which is why i returned it after i beat it in a 2 days.[QUOTE="spike6566"]because the GRaPHics are so outdated . /shrugjohnnyblazed88

Some visual novels that aren't too low budget have around 50+ hours for one playthrough, to go through all the routes takes 200+ or more hours if you don't skip through it.
