Because it isn't?
It really is supposed to be an expansion, Bungie even said so, and it was also suppoed to be less than $60, I'm still getting it (mostly to try out firefight and the new play style), but I wish it wasn't $60. If I liked Halo 3 more I might have been more enthusiastic, but Halo 3 kind of disappointed me compared to Halo 2 and 1.
This isn't halo3 though, its not even an expansion anymore, they have changed the gameplay, there is no regen health... completely different pacing, a sandbox world, i'm actually pumped about this, at first i wasn't really but now that i've actually been paying attention to it, it really looks good. It isn't Halo 3 though but they felt it nessary to make the title "Halo 3 ODST"? Then the devs were saying it was an expansion essentially before MS decided they wanted to make more money off it.......now it's "a whole new game that is worth the price tag". I'm sure you also believe L4D2 is worth its purchase price. bungie was the one that came out and said the expansion has more content then an expansion, and its actually got pat of halo3 in it, you get the halo3 multplayer and an all new campain that is not like the other halos at all. You also get all the map packs from halo 3 which i havn't bought yet so its an extremely good deal for $60. And with out those map packs i'd just say its only a good deal. l4d2 can die an a fire, i'm waiting for the rest of the first one[QUOTE="Yandere"]Some visual novels that aren't too low budget have around 50+ hours for one playthrough, to go through all the routes takes 200+ or more hours if you don't skip through it.IronBassAren't visual novels, like, a mega dead genre outside Japan?
Yes, they never reached popularity outside Japan (so far).
How many games in existence (Other than RPG) has more than 25 hours of SP campaign? If you meant like sports/racing game career modes, those are essentially multiplayer settings with specific goal isn't it? No offense, I am just really curious because my recent longest game was MGS4 which was around 14 hours gameplay (minus cut scenes) in normal difficulty without a guide.[QUOTE="salxis"][QUOTE="Yandere"]
A normal length campain? For recent FPSes maybe, but anything that is under 25-30 hours isn't worth 60 bucks.

Fair enough, since I've never played those type of games I can't really comment on it :) and @ club, yeah I totally forgot about GTA seriesit started out as an xpac and should be price accordingly
as a person who owns all of the DLC maps, i really dont see paying 60 dollars for 3 new maps

the sp is longer then a normal expansion pack, that alone makes it worth 60, games like infamous came out that can be beat in comparable time and have no MP for $60. Honestly as nice as expansion packs are, I'm always left wishing they just added the extra game and released it as an expansion but with enough content to be a full game.BINGO! Give that man a cookie!Because it's Halo, and therefore should be bashed by the uninformed, and ignorant masses

Has anyone ever complained about a new game with a 60$ price tag? No. Why do people complain about this one? Because it was supposed to be a 40$ expansion, but turned into a 60$ full game. If no one knew it was supposed to be a 40$ expansion, no one would give a ****DesmonicExactly. His point was that this "supposed 40$ expansion that turned into a 60$ full game" offered as much content (if not more) than some of those games with a $60 price tag that no one has ever complained about. Very valid point, very good example, very good comparison.

I actually remember 360 fans dismissing Heavenly Sword because of its short gameplay. Thought it was a rent for the money you had to pay. In fact, this was during the time they used to say "Teh Ps3 Haz n0 gAm3s". What goes around comes around.

You don't know how long the campaign is. And it's not worth $60 because most, if not all PC expansions are around $30-40 and have more content than most console games.aaronmullanA lot of PC expansions have more content that $60 console games. Why is it just ODST getting this hate? It has more value than CERTAIN $60 console games, and comparable value to others.
the gta4 lost and dammed dlc story is 12-20 hours long for $20 so i can see how some would think halo 3 odst is not worth $60 especially for those that already bought all the map packsBecause cows think all it is is an expansion. New characters, new 8 hour campaign, new multiplayer maps, firefight, new story, same old halo 3 multiplayer... ftw.
wiifreak93
It's Halo 3: ODST, it says expanison in the title. 3 new maps for Halo 3 MP, a surivial mode (a la L4D), and a campaign. GTA4: Episodes of Liberty City is $40 and has twice the content. L4D2 feels like an expansion because it comes out soon but it's bigger than the first in everyway. Unlike ODST, which plays off of Halo 3.
It shouldn't be $60 IMO, but I'm buying it because I play Halo a lot (and I want recon & Reach Beta ... hmm I don't think I'd care without those 2 things)
So by that you are saying that most console games aren't worth $60 right? Correct. But ODST has even less content, so it should be $20 like Lost and Damned.[QUOTE="aaronmullan"]You don't know how long the campaign is. Well that's what they first said when theyannounced it as an expansion that"they couldn't see themselves charging full price for." However, since then they added so much to it that it doesn't seem like to far of a stretch to think that maybe they added more content to the single player as well. I don't know either way for certain, Could anyone post a up-to-date link of everything that Halo: ODST is offering, including single player length?

Many people play Halo 90% of the time for the multiplayer. This one doesn't have a new multiplayer.II-FBIsniper-IIFirefight says "hello". :P
If ODST isn't worth $60 then so aren't most games released this generation. It's as simple as that. They should have never called this an expansion, we wouldn't be having this argument right now.
