Because the exclusive library is freaking terrible. Sure, it has multiplats to play ... but shouldn't there be a reason to own the PS4 outside games that can be found on other systems? Of course, you'll have the cows who bring out the sheer numbers card, but that's including a whole host of DL indie games which don't really make a console stand out. No one buys a PS4 for a game like Hohokum. Either way, yes, the system has games but it lacks a system-seller. It lacks the "must-own" game that every system needs. Even the Xbox One struggles with that largely, but at least it has a better selection of exclusive games.
Cool.
I feared that you wanted to include MCC and other multiplats to push the narrative.
I can accept that objectivly the xbone under GS rules has the better exclusives.
But your (?) list itself proves on the other hand that the PS4 has an overall better library with AAA, AA and A.
See the above underlined.
And how many people did buy an xbone for Powerstar golf or D4? Not even lemmings who own the console did buy D4. (The creator is begging people on twitter to buy his game)
You are using sales and/or retail as a way to determinante systemselling titles while almost every PS4 exclusive sold better than the xbone equivalent.
That started right at the beginning of this gen, when the sales gap was not even that big.
Why even bring up systemselling ability for exclusives when we dont have a real metric. Sure the PS4 sells on hardware alone most likely very well.
But its a fact that it has more games which are higher rated. Exclusive, Console exclusive or Multiplat it doesnt matter in the end if you want to discuss systemselling ability.
Systemselling Ability =/= Quality
Systemselling Ability = Popularity
People, as in regular folk, don't say that at all. But this is SW, the land of blind fanboys and trolls... so be honest, what did you expect?
SW is critical as **** and always has been. But the first year for PS4 has been slow going. Dem sales tho, hopefully Sony knocks it out of the park in 2015 for exclusive releases.
Just a bunch of shit talk over the exclusives available atm, but if they are gaming on multiple platforms I do see where they're coming from. In a year they won't be saying shit though I'm guessing. You have Rime, Bloodborne, Everybody's Gone to The Rapture, The Order 1886, and Uncharted 4 all slated for a 2015 release. 3 of those games Bloodborne, Rime, and UC4 I want to play right now. The Order looks meh, and I haven't seen a lot of EGTTR to get hyped, but they're both being backed by Sony Santa Monica which is a top Sony in house team so I can't see these games bombing outright.
TC: Why do people say that the PS4 has no games?
Well, that's actually not even true. It's trolling just to annoy, usually by kids who don't own either machine. To be honest, the exact opposite is true.

It has plenty of games, and its one of the reasons its selling so well. People want games, and plenty can be found on the PS4. It may lack exclusives, but its not lacking in games.
ps4 is generic garbo
if ur cool with europeans and australianas than i get ps4's for u
if ur american just get a ford truck get xbox one an be done with it im sick of all lame "europeans" and asianatic nations
na dude there not me an they never will be im all about nintendo an xbox an thats about it
B/c PC gamers hate that the PS4 is so popular and once again looks like the PC won't be taken seroiusly by devs/publishers.
B/c Lems have little no nothing to say about the PS4 that really matters....so they have to make stuff up and lie.
The term isn't about if the system has games or not.
It's about it's overall worth (in internet points).
Multiplatform games don't give you brownie points for your system because EVERYONE has it. (except Nintendo)
Why do people say WiiU has more games than PS4? It's because of the Exclusives. When People talk about Games for Systems they don't count Multiplatform games, because come on man if you got a PS3 why are you even waiting to get a PS4 to buy Minecraft?
It's just that Simple really. When it comes to 3rd Party support PS4 is king, but Exclusive wise Microsoft and Nintendo have the edge.
all ps4 games are on xbox one
cept for what like "the last of us" remastered
well guess what xbox one is getting halo 1-4 remastered so were even on that department ur PS4 games are ours on the one so deal with it kids
we got halo remastered u have last of us thats just a fact aright ur not better than us

Amerr'can gamer. Shops at Wal-Mart, fucks his cousin, dies in deserts liberatin' oil. Cuz 'murca. Buy ford trucks.
I kinda look at Gen 8 like this. I had to pay $50 a year to play games with people like you on Live. Now I pay $50 a year NOT to play games with people like you on PS4. I should be thankful MS puts out the perfect console for glue eaters who think this way.

People say it because the PS4 is severely lacking quality games that cant be played on other consoles.Such a boring console to own.
My main point of this thread was to touch on how people claim that the PS4 selling as well as it has thus far has been based on hype alone which simply isn't true. People keep waiting for the PS4 sales to slow down once the hype dies down because they claim that the PS4 has no games and people will soon figure that out. The thing is, that's not true. Most PS4 gamers are happy with their purchase and think it has an overabundance of games to play. The PS4 isn't selling because of hype. It's selling because it's the most powerful next gen console at a decent price with full 3rd party support which are everyone's favorite games anyways. It's also selling because social media has led everyone and their grandma to believe that the Wii U and Xbox One are jokes, but that's a different topic.
So you're hurt because the whole Internet is saying that the PS4 is just all hype? Well the X1 has the better selection of games going into the holidays with SO, FH2 and HMCC for starters. Further more, the X1 has a decent selection of future big budget exclusives that can easily stand toe to toe with anything on the PS4.
Being the most powerful console is pointless when it can't even output every game in 1080p! Lmao! So big deal it does a few more games in 1080p than the X1; on the flipside the X1 has faster updates, better chat quality, more features and a better online infrastructure making it a more rounded system overall. Jeez, the X1 will soon have 300k servers; which will significantly improve lag and with the recent news about the addition ESL why the **** would any real gamer not want to own an X1? Sony doesn't seem to have any interest in e-sports either which makes this "Sony is for gamers" mantra a laughable joke!

The problem with the Xbox One is the system itself, not the games. Games wise, though, it doesn't offer anything worthwhile that the PS4 doesn't.
Honestly, the claim is more about games that could compel you to buy the PS4 (in other words, exclusives), of which the PS4 almost literally has none as of now. It's a fair thing to call the system out on, as well- almost every major system in the last decade has gone through its 'no games' phase on this board- PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo 3DS, PS Vita, Wii U, and now PS4. It's just a thing that happens.
Next year, the PS4 is getting an insane amount of content. Assuming the games are actually good, which I see no reason as to why they shold not be, then the no games bullshit will stop as well.

The PS4 has 30+ more games than the Xbone. If you look at the games in development for PS4/Xbone (both 1st party and 3rd party), the PS4 has more games coming as well. What they are referring to is exclusive games, but even that is not accurate. The Xbone does have a slight lead in exclusives (over PS4 not Wii U), but the tides of change are inbound over 2015-2016 just objectively looking at games in development for both machines. I own both, but it's an easy saying to dispel.

The Wii U was out a year longer and stands above both machines imo currently, but it too had a rough run at first.
They are both early in their life-cycles though. The PS4 does have games, what they mean is that it doesn't have as many exclusives...but even that argument is a joke since both machines are so new it's just sort of argument fodder for 2014. Sony supported the PS3 with 1st party exclusives at the cost of the PS4's total count, but those studios are now underway making their first PS4 games. The exclusives list wars are about to change in the next few years. Besides the data currently available regarding games inbound for both machines, we can also look at how the PS1 was supported over the early PS2, and how the older PS2 was supported over the young PS3, and now we saw how the older PS3 was supported over the PS4. Sony starts off weaker for their new platforms to support the older platforms, and they get stronger and more support (1st/3rd party) as time goes on.
The sales imbalance supporting PS4 isn't going to help matters either as publishers are going to want to make PS4 games first and foremost if this sales trend continues.
I own both machines and I am still playing last gen games and PC more than my new machines. Wii U was disappointing for me too (but better than Xbone/PS4), but at least I got two games to pick up with Smash and Bayonetta 2 releasing at the tail end of the year. You want to point the finger at no games, blame 2014 (crap year) and how young the PS4/Xbone are.
Yeah here we go with the indie spam again.

The games that are convincing the 13+ million people to buy a PS4 are multiplats. CoD, Destiny, Madden, Fifa, etc. They wanna play the current generation versions and don't want the Xbox One because it's a laughing stock all over social media. Owning the PS4 to play these current gen versions of multiplats is the popular thing to do and to be popular in a market like this is invaluable. Being popular is better than any exclusive, any advertisement, any feature, etc. PS4 is the cool system to own and there hasn't been a peep of criticism surrounding it on social media whereas Wii U and Xbox One were buried just about 6 feet deep in criticism.
Games are what have compelled people to buy the PS4 thus far. Games, all games, not just exclusive games. Wii U has the best exclusives but people want more than that. 3rd party games are much more popular than Nintendo 1st party games as a whole.

You asked me why people on this forum criticize the PS4 and its library, I told you. What people think on social media or oin your anecdotal circle of friends isn't relevant to the criticisms the PS4 faces on this board specifically (which, again, is what your question was, and which is what I answered), so why bother bringing them up?

Right. You implied all gaming boards, which is, after all, the only place the PS4 is criticized- hotbeds of more knowledgeabl gamers like Gamespot, NeoGAF, or Reddit. That's what your question was about. The same answer applies- people on those boards don't care for multiplats on PS4, more often than not, they have a PC for the better experience. They buy consoles for exclusives, and guess just what the PS4 is lacking in right now.

Yeah, I understand that. But in my original post, I was more focusing on addressing why so many people have bought the system so far. The games that are on it now are pretty...Meh, IMO.
It's not common at all for gamers to have all the next gen systems or even 2 of them. 90%+ of gamers will buy one system and not only that, they won't even play it that much and it will collect a lot of dust.
I believe those kind of "gamers" are not gamers at all. They're casuals. Or rather casual gamers. They only buy a few games a year and don't play much outside of the usual stuff. Games like GTA, COD, Mario, Sports games, and maybe every once and a while they'll buy something like Destiny, or whatever comes out.

Which is fine and well known- but the criticism of the PS4 doesn't come under those parameters, as it simply wouldn't make sense in that context, as you point out. The PS4's criticism arises from a different set of expectations.

I'm not talking about personal experiences, though. I already addressed my personal experience in the original post just to say that I haven't played my PS4 in months because I play superior versions on PC. The 13+ million other people who bought a PS4, many of which probably don't have a gaming PC or an Xbox One, probably bought it for games that they felt were worth buying the system for. Well, at least that's what I'm guessing because a game console doesn't do anything besides play games. Exclusives don't sell systems, multiplats do. The only exclusives that sell systems are Nintendo exclusives which is a pretty objective statement because Nintendo doesn't have 3rd party support, so anyone buying a Nintendo system isn't doing it for 3rd party obviously.

The thing about PS systems that they do better than anyone else is that they appeal to both the casual and the hardcore. Right now, they're appealing to the casuals, but by the end of the generation, it wouldn't surprise me if they had the best exclusives for the generation which appeases the hardcore. They have an affordable console that just so happens to be the most powerful as well. They have stronger 3rd party support than Microsoft and Nintendo, and will probably have the best exclusives at the end of the generation or at least close to Nintendo's. There's really no holes in the PS4. Good exclusives take time to develop, longer than 1 year.

"51% of U.S. households own a dedicated game console, and those that do own an average of 2"
That's just called common sense. Do you really think that every gamer out there owns a gaming PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Wii U? I wouldn't be surprised if you did think that.

Uh did you miss the quote that says that on average households with dedicated consoles own 2 of them, it's from a study by the ESA for 2014

Nevermind, I already found it.
It doesn't even specify generation, meaning that owning an SNES and PS4 would qualify as owning 2 dedicated home gaming consoles. That's hardly useful information regarding this topic.
The simple fact that 51% of gamers only have 2 systems regardless of generation would lead me to believe that a whole lot less have 2 systems from a current generation.

yes, it's much better to just make things up instead

So if someone owns a Sega Saturn, N64, GameCube and SNES, they own 4 dedicated home consoles and have absolutely no reason to own a PS4. See how your logic is flawed? I strongly doubt it, lol.
@arkephonic: Dude, you're preaching to the choir. All the stuff you are saying about the PS4 being the best console all said and done, all of it, is stuff I already said in my very first post in this topic. But this topic isn't about why people criticize the PS4 in a hypothetical 2017. It's about why people criticize the PS4 in the here and now. And that is because in the here and now, the PS4's exclusives library sucks and invites criticism.

I never made any such claim. I just pointed out that the data doesn't back up your claim: " most video game consumers, actually the mass majority of video game consumers, only own 1 system.

Well everything gets criticized, everything. If it wasn't exclusive games, it'd be getting criticized for something else. It's not exactly a shocker. Exclusives don't matter in the real world, and everyone knows that PS4 will most likely have the best exclusives by the end of the generation. Once that happens, people will find something else to criticize it for.

Well you can go ahead and edit that statement to "current generation systems". That's what I meant, but obviously your brain failed to process it without specificity even though this forum is specifically for current generation consoles. There's even a legacy console forum to talk about previous generations.
Good lord, I just realized you're the same guy that was having major reading comprehension issues in one of my other threads. Didn't I say I wish they implemented an ignore feature so I wouldn't have to hear your blabbering anymore? You offer nothing to threads other than an alarming display of your ineptitude.
