Because its fun and entertaining with family, friends, and college buddies? No one here acts like Kinect is for the hardcore, but it IS fun to play with.
IT has great potential, but due to the inherent weakness of consoles (not upgradable) kinect cannot grow. new models need to be made.... but I can understand from a business point of veiw was to why that wouldnt work. Its great tech, just no where near developed enough for sophisticated gaming.... however in order to get anywhere close it NEEDS to be given the chance it has now. hell... the first controllers were crap compared to the ones we got now.... try playing any modern game on a SNES controller? oh right... theyre not good enough.
I dont think its cool at all. I also hate the way MS seems to be focusing too much on it and killing my hopes in future non-kinect exclusives. But my kids and my GF like it. The 360 still has a few good exclusives and multiplats and I have my PS3 as well so...meh
Um I like Kinect! It's not something that is going to change the world but it is fun to play with friends. And I like how it is something different and not just a Wii Remote with the buttons labeled as shapes instead of letters..........and with a big ball on the end.......
Those Dance Games (albeit embarrassing sometimes) are actually very very entertaining and fun to play. Plus the features that come with it and that are still coming (The new dashboard) are actually pretty sweet. Its a neat piece of hardware.

TC, People probably like it because they find it a fun way to pass the time with friends, it just appeals to them. I personally dislike it and think it's a joke, but to ones own I guess.

ps move can be used for shooters like socom 4 or killzone3,kinect cant be used for any shooters/core games. looks like kinect is suckier actually, it's just microsoft's been marketing kinect alot more.
I don't understand how Kinect is a joke yet the Wii or Move isn't... Kinect is new technology. It's doing what the Wii and move are doing, but without a controller! People that say they hate a simple device clearly are sad sad fanboys that don't even own a xbox :roll:
I've played it, the Dance Game and the Sports game. Definitely did not have as much fun as I did when the Wii first game out with the sports games.
I think it's just adults buying it for their kids and people that like video game parties because it's the new thing and there are no controllers.

it is mostly adults buying for their kids... Soccor moms love oprah and they will buy anything she endorses. I am 32 and my 33 year old wife's friends all bought the damn thing for their kids...and they all probably seen it on that show... so yeah..there's your answer. Trend following as well as lemmings trying to back the company, as that is what all the advertisning is showing. Some people buy into anything that is advertised or hyped to them.... so sad!

Lol, cows always say they are TEH hardcore gamers. Who could of though that they are now more exited to use motion controllers over the DS3 for core games. Really? Wow, things have changed so much for them.

This!!! imagine how many 1st party stuidos could of been made, and how many hard core games would of came out if they spent that $500 mil on actual hardcore games... Is that why they are funding so much into it? and well if the rumours of windows 8 intergration are true.... Only hardcore gamers hate kinect, anyone rational person doesnt.
Non-Game wise, its a pretty cool device. That's all I can say about it.

This 100%. I went over a friends house and tried it out. From a gaming perspective; I was left totally unimpressed. But navigating the menus with my hands and "talking" to the Xbox were admittedly extremely cool since it was my first time. Now is that worth 150 bucks? Not for me since I care more about games than impressing my friends. But I hope it evolves to something cool in the future.
It is reasonable, as a party game controller it has definite benefits to the Wii and Move. It's not without flaws but it's refined, the Kinect detects you well and dosn't randomly lose focus and it's not a waggle-fest. I'ld put it a rank above the Wii which i don't think is any better than the EyeToy.

Only these so-called "hardcores" here really hold a grudge. But they're a minority like any other obnoxious group that tries to tell people how to play games. I played Child of Eden, Kung Fu Panda, Dance Central, and the sports game. They are actually very fun in my opinion. All you need to do is give it a chance. I hated the wii mote, so not having to worry about hold something stupid was a plus for me, at least, but we all have different experiences. We wish. Minority Report is like a touchscreen. Kinect is like a touchscreen while wearing a shoe on your hand. With that said, swiping away the Kinect menu screen is the best thing about Kinect. Too bad the Kinect menu has close to no functionality.
I saw a gameplay of "Rise of Nightmare" the only kinect game advertised as a hardcore game, seriously i was embarassed to tears :( starting from the nonsense graphics to the stupid gameplay i could not just get the hype about kinect potentials :|
