Because most people are haters

Notice the level of hate has gone down for Halo as COD has over taken it in popularity.

Because until battlefield does yearly releases it's another excuse as to why battlefield is "better".

Come on, I love COD singleplayer and love battlefield in general but you know its true :P

A game that requires zero skill isn't fun.

Easy. Run and gun gameplay, unbalanced gameplay, kill streaks, released every year(no new innovation, same game re-packaged over and over). Lots of other reasons.

Randoggy

Guess you hated Doom, Quake, UT then. Those were all run and gun gameplay too.

CoD is popular. People have to hate what is popular to win them some points with other people on the internet. Just like the people who hate Halo. Both are amazing games, and I will be picking up MW3 day one. Haters gonna hate. I'll just leave it at that. Someone should check all the gamertags/psn ids of the people who bash it when MW3 comes out because most likely they will be playing it come release.

it hasn't changed or improved at all, yet it is released every single year.

and it's essentially the manifestation of activision (which people hate) in game form.

balfe1990

People only really started hating Activision because of CoD.

Or at least, that was when their yearly release schedule became apparent.

I think the lawsuit over brutal legend, the west/zampella ordeal, and kotick's various comments had more to do with it

I believe those incidents were what broke the camel's back, but yearly installments of Call of Duty was definitely the catalyst.

Because it's so popular that its uncool to like it. Plus that popularity means the flaws of the game often go unnoticed. Some people feel that its success is not well deserved, others love it.

So partly snobbery, partly because of it's broad appeal.

jeez, they need to make a permanent "why do people hate COD" thread, there has to be at least a few dozen of them it's simple, when a game sells like 30 million copies not everyone is going to be pleased, since it sells so much it's going to have more displeased gamers than a game that simply sells 1 or 2 million copies, hence the perception it's massively hated but it's probably no disproportionate than any other game... anyhow, the sales should also be a good indicator of just how not-hated it is

I just think it's boring and most of the people who play it are annoying little chumps.

considering that the PS3 and X360 have sold about 50 million consoles each and the Wii 85 million. Then most people haven't played COD.
