This is not a bash, just a very good question...
If you haven't noticed, the Xbox and Xbox360 are not shooter consoles like some people speculate. Infact they hold some of the greatest games in other genres. Ninja Gaiden, Forza, DOA, Splinter Cell, Fable, and KOTOR. Such great variety, yet, Halo outsells each one of those games 10:1.
Now they are obviously a lot more car racing sim fans than a wimpy one mil. Gran Turismo games sold 22+ million copies on the PS2, and Forza is arguably the better game. Yet sales show that despite this, Xbox owners just gobbled up their Halo. More than 1/3 Xbox owners have a copy of Halo.
So now here we are in next gen. And great games in other genres continue to be released for the 360. This time the userbase is only around 10 million opposed to the Xbox's 25 mil, and still -- other great games pale in comparison to the sales of games like GeOW.
The only thing that suprised me was the sales of Elder Scrolls (3 million).
People on gaming forums such as these who own 360s probably own a variet of genres, beacuse they probably love video games in general to be on a gaming forum. But it seems like your brethren in the real world don't think like you do - and tend to only buy games like Madden, GTA, GeOW, and Halo.
So lemmings, how can you say so confidently that games like Ninja Gaiden 2 and Mass Effect will doom the PS3 in 2008, when it can be clearly seen from MS platform history that the games simply don't appeal to Xbox owners. There is nothing wrong with the games, they are amazing -- but the consumers of MS consoles are pretty weird if you ask me.
Why do 360 owners overlook other great genres? Since no one here is really a "casual" 360 owner, I want to hear everyone's theories on this.
