Even though I feel that PC gaming's prolonged existence is threatened, I still get a computer with gaming as a priority, seeing that most PC versions are superior to the console counterpart. Additionally, it's easier to stick with PC gaming when you're a college student, since you can lug around a gaming laptop.

games. my PC is just a fancy games console. it was built to play games and the only non gaming related apps installed on my computer can be counted on one hand. i love to read up on advances on new tech also and am very interested in that side of things. but i dont need to buy it because it exits. so i only upgrade when i feel a real need for it (newer games playing very badly for example...or something breaks. i dont like replacing broken bits with the same model. if im going to spend money i may as well get something better). i do use my PC for other less demanding tasks also like software development and browsing dinternet. but i choose my hardware based on how it will do in games.

Mostly games. It's nice to have a good computer to use for some other stuff, but pretty much the only really intensive thing I do is gaming.

I do use it for CAD stuff when I have homework sometimes. If I wanted to be somewhat serious about it, I would need a workstation card though.

You do not need a workstation card to run any form of AutoCAD. LOL I've run everything from Release 10 to Civil3D 2012 on workstations and gaming rigs and have never noticed any difference in performance. Just FYI. I've been a Sr. LandSurvey/Civil Engineering/Arch/GIS Mapping Technician for 13 Years and have been drafting on computers for 18 and board It blows me away how much they charge for workstations. The one i'm posting on right now was $4700 at Dell. I run a dual quad core 2.0ghz Xeon workstation with two FX 580's in SLI and 8gbs ddr3 (800mhz) ram on win7 x64. My sig rig decimates it when it comes to processing Drawings, Maps and Point clouds. Not to mention rendering and analysis.

I use my computers for everything. That includes work and play.

I buy a computer for work, internet, and iTunes. I currently use a MacBook Pro and I love it. I do all my gaming on consoles; in particular, the XBox 360 and Wii.

As of right now, just games. But as I learn more sound-mixing/editting it'll probably strike a balance between the two.
