Why do you some of you male gamers hate upon female leads in video gaming?

I am noticing frequent criticisms on recent games which got female leads online including Gamespot. People losing interest in the game and calling it woke if it got a female lead example upcoming GTA 6 ETC.

What is this new trend? Don't we enjoy Bayonetta , Horizon , Alyx ? Will a game/gameplay become bad if it got a female lead?

Because they feel forced most of time due to being woke.

however when look at games like life is strange it feel like its a game that fit right that is design to play as female lead

even stellar blade and and upcoming tides of annihilation doesnot feel woke despite having female lead.

Insecurities, mainly. Todays' gamers would HATE Jade from Beyond Good and Evil had that game released later than it did

It's not forced... Just because you don't care for a game, doesn't mean it's woke. Every game doesn't have to appeal to you. There are plenty of games that aren't for me, and I just simply ignore them.

game going woke. games flop in sales, developers complain "hurrr you dont like our diverse gameZ"

develoeprs making games only apeal to reset era minority and thus woke and thus flop.

Returnal is a fine example. The game is FANTASTIC but it got hate on because it had a female protagonist......just for that reason alone. There was nothing FORCED or WOKE about it. Heck the game barely has any story at all!

In recent years and not so recent, there has been this trope called the "strong woman" by the creators, "Mary sue" by the consumers, these characters are flawless and can do everything just because they are a woman, one without any flaws, the problem is that they base all the project around it, since she is flawless, she resolves everything with relative ease except when someone, usually a man use underhanded tactics to deter her.

As everything these projects have flaws sometimes they have a lot, but the creatorts deflect criticism by calling mysoginist to the ones that mention those flaws, these creators blame the consumer particularly the male portion; the male community have seen this several times, and while the vast majority just ignores the controversies, a small portion decides to fight hate with hate.

I'd like to say there's more to it, but after reading people's comments these last few years, it seems like that really is as deep as it goes. They'll try to come up with some "objective" justifications like, "a skinny woman punching things breaks my immersion", then Abby comes along and it's, "a woman that large breaks my immersion", then Eve shows up and suddenly, "the writing is so immersive".

It really comes down to tits.

Why would anyone think this was the case?

I don't. Joanna Dark and Aloy kick a lot of ass.

Never had an issue with a protagonists gender in any video game.

Find people who get really upset over it have much bigger issues, and should touch grass.

@indy_2024: people are drunk on their favorite entertainment news media that is constantly feeding them a lot of hate and division. They've been conditioned to equate the appearance of a fictional character to the current state of the culture wars.... It's sad because the profound impact games like Metroid had on me when I beat the game made me love Samus... Now a day people can't handle it. Their fear gets in the way.

That said, games are either good or they're not... Something tells me a lot of lead characters have been loved and enjoyed over the years because they're connected to great playing video games...

You also have to remember when Lara Croft come about in the late 90s, social media wasn't a thing. We were still using video game magazines. Them Magazines did help Lara becoming the front cover art depending what video game mags you was reading. I was always on Gamers Republic, Game Pro, and even Tips 'N' Tricks. Those mags always have Lara in it as if she was the gaming industry's Playboy for video games. I guess it all falls down to what and where you was at during that time. Me, everyone around me fell in love with Lara as she was hot and a badass with those bazooka boobies😉

Some say they were hidden nude cheat codes in her games. To me, it was meh, big deal. (Cannot confirm nor denied existence of a nude code. Game Shark? Who knows)

Games that aren't woke are flopping. Games that are considered woke are doing well.

Woke or not, doesn't matter. It's the gameplay and marketing.

If the main character has little tits, of colour, and doesn't like dick then it's sick 👎

Me personally I don't care about the colour, tit size, looks etc, I'm here to play a game not fap over the main character.

Some male gamers just don't like female leads. Female leads don't bother me though. They can have games that are very fun.

A lot of 'gamers' think having a female lead makes the game woke or something... some of the best games I've played have had female protagonist like Bayonetta, Nier, or Metroid

I think it got something to do with Hollywood remaking bad movies lately with female leads as Ghostbusters, Prey and others that are making some gamers cringe about female leads in Video games, thinking it will turn out same. Females were always there , part of gaming from beginning Lara , Samus , Claire and others or even solid side kicks as Alyx or Rachel. Video Game industry is completely different from Hollywood , here gameplay is most important over who gets the lead.

In many rpg you can create female character of any race without them being attractive in choices ( Elder Scroll, Dragon Age, Mass Effect ) and gameplay matters most still , the games are solid.

@indy_2024: See those games are old, too old for the "woke" age, except for the latest Dragon Age game which got panned by the "woke" folks and their fake outrage.

To them gameplay doesn't matter, if there is an ugly female, with small tits who loves the V then they're going to run to the internet to scream woke.

I don't think anyone really cares until they're asked to comment on it on the internet. Even then you're just picking a side for argument's sake and moving on, in most cases.
