Why do you think Xbox One is not doing so well?

How many more times do warriors think we'll see this thread? So far this year before E3, I remember"Why the X1 is a failure; What did X1 do wrong?" Threads. Basically the same thing is being asked over and over.

Who says that? There are many reasons. Sony has sold for 4 gens now. They are a global brand. They have a variety of games that fit with other cultures, the PS4 cost less at launch, they didn't have bad press at the initial E3...hell they owned that E3 after MS shit the bed....traditionally they support older consoles longer as well. And I'd say some RRoD turned off some 360 owners especially if they had more than one failure.....you can't erode consumer confidence and maintain market share. Nonetheless the One is selling well enough as a niche console...just not going to be global. If MS can recoup the initial cost then they'll be happy enough. I just don't think MS is the console business for the long haul which is why I think this is a bridge console to get gamers on board with Windows 10.

I do think exclusives matter though if someone loves an IP and it's only on one console....or more than one IP....so exclusives can keep people brand loyal. You do want to stand out from your competitor. I just don't think it's the number 1 reason.

Is there an all of the above option?

Why can't they beat sony in like one category at least? Why does it get beat in every single one they didn't even try to beat sony in anything.

Hmmm.......let's see. The original Halo series was very very iconic. It definitely stood out. It's faded now but back then I think it was bigger than a Sony IP.

Can't agree with that. Each person has the freedom to decide for whatever reason they value, to buy a console. Who is anyone here to say why a console should be bought? It isn't my money others are spending or yours

The reveal was terrible (mandatoty kinect, mandatory online, no used copies, etc, etc) giving PS4 a huge boost in popularity. Now it's a good console, though.

Well of course there is freedom. That doesn't change the fact that people can be wrong. :p

Really I don't care about what people do or play. I just offer my opinions and try to have a good time. If folks want to yell at me that's fine too. That's part of the fun. But in my opinion people should purchase a console based on the games they will get to play. I haven't had a bad time with a game because it was a lower resolution so that answer seems ridiculous. And I'm no Sony loyalist so there is no brand loyalty, but without a PS4 I would be missing out on a ton of good games. I feel bad for those folks that bought an Xbox One for "innovative features" because all of those have been abandoned.

@GoldenElementXL: I actually did have a bad with time with dead rising 3 because of the resolution and framerates.

I think game would have been a beast if it was like 60 frames and higher graphical details and 1080p.

The game was solid the platform xbox one is not solid enough to run it properly so resolution does harm a game imo and so does framerates stuff is blurry textures look like crap. Frame rate is going all over the place.

My X1 still uses HDMI pass through, voice commands, recognizes me when I cross in front and signs me in, I track my fantasy football snapped while I watch games all season, I can use it as a DVR if I wish to. None of them were abandoned. They still very much work.

Nobody has to justify why they buy anything for any reason. Therefore they can't be wrong. You may not agree with their assessment, but that doesn't make it wrong.

I have both systems and for my taste, i would have missed out on a lot more good games If I didn't have an X1 then I would If i didn't have a PS4.

I think a better question is, why did the XBOX One sell so well?

It's done on in think, a better question may have been why has the Xbox one not been as successfull as the ps4?

Or why has the Xbox one not been as successfull as the 360?

Anyway, most the reasons you listed play a part.

Launching at a higher price, with weaker specs was not a good start.

The bundling of Kinect was a poor decision.

Sony might not have gotten such a head start if they launched at the same price.

Although they would still be ahead, a couple more games and more powerful hardware would still have been enough to stay ahead even if Microsoft got the launch right.

The Xbox One stumbled because of messaging, the Kinect bringing the price up and the lack of power. Sony was brilliant pre-launch and it paid off HUGE. I'm not sure the Scorpio can fix any of this, but it's sure funny to see the importance shift from power to exclusives.

There were a list of specific choices for the folks that participated in the survey to choose from. "Exclusive Games/Content" was one as was "Game Library" "Faster Processing Power" etc. If people chose the PS4 because of exclusives don't you think they would have picked that option? And if the NUMBER 1, most picked answer was "Better Resolution" then I would say, to the people who participated in the surevey, resolution was most important. And this wasn't some chump survey, it was conducted by Nielsen

Meh, appeal to authority. Just because Nielsen wrote it doesn't mean it isn't a shit survey. There shouldn't be overlapping choices. "Game Library" and "Exclusive Games and Content" are essentially the same thing, i.e. "Game Library" includes "Exclusive Games".

20 million people buy a console each, thats a failure? Nobody ever looks at what they did wrong when they revealed the console in 2013 anymore. And, MS releasing it a higher price and lower spec. X box one sales should be considered a success considering what happened.

True.. Cows aren't bashing the Wii U though for some reason. We'll see what reasons they have after the Scorpio is released and more developers start flocking to it.

Of which NONE of you cows can produce. What we do know is that according to the last OFFICIAL numbers from BOTH MS and Sony, MS was ahead. So yeah you cows sure do love to bury your heads in the sand or constantly repeat the same hoping it magically turns into a fact.

360 could have done worse with hardware sales, but Sony lost lot money with the PS3 and they had to give away free games, free multiplayer and had to release more first party content to catch up. MS profit last gen was way higher.

As an American, I feel UK gamers and especially Japanese gamers, have terrible taste. I mean CoD might be not very good and insanely popular here but it sure beats the hell out of some other countries leading games. In Russia World of tanks is one of their top games, in UK Fifa is one of their top games, In Japan 8 out of their top 10 are mobile 2ds games and the other 2 are splatoon and mario maker.

Most other countries are huge on F2P PC games more then anything, except Japan which is huge on mobile. No longer are people pushing for quality in most regions, they are pushing for cheap time wasters.

Well I don't see what Sony has to do with this conversation. I don't pit brands against each other. PS3 was too expensive at launch and unfortunately BC was the casualty. Apparently people like BC. I just keep my old consoles. Nonetheless this has nothing to do with the MS brand.

Sony had free multiplayer because PC is free. They found out from MS they can charge. That isn't giving something away. I don't think playing online should require fees but we have it now since MS was successful with it. Companies follow trends. Particularly where money is involved.

I just find it strange that I keep seeing the One is outselling the 360 when the 360 had more of a presence globally and domestically. It may have initially sold higher.....though I though the 360 did well out of the gate.....apparently the 360 did NOT do as well if this mantra is true.

By the way...doesn't MS give free games as well now?

To be fair Madden sells a lot. Sports titles have an audience. Couple that with most of the world following soccer aka football and that's why the sales are high.

@loe12k: RROD put a dent into those profits though. But every one can thank Microsoft for MP paywall becoming standard now. Sony made more from PSN than Nintendo did as an entire corporation last fiscal year.
