Why do you want the PS3 to fail.

Since there are tons of threads trying to convince others of the impending ps3 doom. Why are there so many threads about this topic?

I understand people think "PS3 owners spent 600 dollars on a Bluray Player and a Gaming console. They were ripped off because the PS3 Has no good games." I cant say the ripped off part is true, because the PS3 is the best bluray player out there. They all range from 400-1000 dollars just for a player. I agree that none of the good games are out yet.

People also think "SONY said the PS3 was one of the most advanced peices of hardware. The Cell is a complete joke."

So why all of the threads about how its a flop etc? At the end of the day, why tell a person that has spent money on a game system that its a flop or that it "sux0rs" etc?

I don't like the divide that microsoft created. I don't remember Dreamcast owners calling eachother names and wishing for the death of the opposing systems. I don't remember Gamepro deciding what games I should/shouldn't buy.

When a system flopped, it sucked for all of us. Because that mean't we couldn't play games on the system anymore. Hell I wished the Gameboy 3d thing turned out cool, but it didn't. I didn't enjoy it flopping? same with the 3do.

Most of the resonable mutli-platform owners know the PS3 isn't a flop. Flop in opinions perhaps, but what does that have to do with the future of a gaming console.

thats your fault. thats what u get for being an early buyer. anyways PS, is like the evil empire. Sony Controls the console game for 10+ years now. So what do you do when the champ has to start all over and its lagging behind? Kick the champ hard because its down for now. Lemming and sheeps are tired of being on the losing side. So when the get a little taste of victory they dont know how to handle it.

Im 50/50 on this matter since the only way sony is gonna learn from their mistakes is to ether fail and start all over and take what you learned like putting a fraking console out for $600 bucks which is over priced for the avg normal gamer,or they can continue not giving a damn and slowly become the next sega (although I loved sega).

I for one dont favor any system all I care about is which system is gonna have the best line up of games and so far 360 and the Wii are almost tied in that category while the ps3 is a blank sheet even coming up on its 1 year and so far I dont really see more than 3 good titles in 08 which the 360 had at least 3-5 decent titles at that time last year.But I dont blame the ps3 or sony for the lake of games I blame the game company's and publishers while the only thing I blame sony in their degrading so far "down fall" atm is they tried to release a console for $600 which is waaay over kill for a console for playing video games.

I personally want the ps3 to fail for a number of reasons.

First, I don't like the way sony is using gamers as a vehicle for their over-priced in house movie format, with nobenfits to gaming.

Second, I don't want a inferior game machine to be the lead platform for multi-plats.All non-sony consolegamers had to suffer last gen with the ps2, and I don't want that this gen.

Third, I don't want console makers to think it's OK to launch a console at a completely ridiculiou pricepoint.

Fourth, sony has lost sight and have become complacent and they need to humbled.

Um, releasing a $600 console and expecting it to sell just off of the brand name is pretty damn cocky.

because sony killed the saturn , the dreamcast , took nintendo;s number one spot and killed the xbox and xbox 360.

I'll never understand why someone would want any system to fail. I do think that sony and nintendo fans are just as guilty of this though xbox fans seem to be a little more passionate about their hatred.

To be honest, I don't want the PS3 to fail. Microsoft needs the competition and I'm a little bit concerned what the market would be like if the PS3 stopped being supported - when the Dreamcast failed, there was a period where the developers just got lazy as hell and there was utter rubbish being released for the PS2 - it's only Microsoft coming along with the Xbox that managed to get everyone a bit competitive again. If the PS3 hit the deck and Sony decided to not bother making consoles then I'm certain the same type of thing would be repeated...and I can't see who'd have the money/bother to become a serioius competitor in the face of the Xbox and Microsoft. This of course isn't meant to discount Nintendo as being a below average company, far from it - it's just that as good as Nintendo are, their gaming platform and the games released for it are sufficiently different enough from that released on the Xbox that I doubt they'd really be direct competition in the way that Sony is.

Oh, and as for the arguments based on hoping the PS3 fails because, "omgz, Sony is an evil corporation whereas Microsoft feed starving children"...seriously? They're both huge big corporations and for the most part, they want to make money. I really doubt the people working for Sony or Microsoft are that different to each other as well! It's not like the customer relations on one side have horns and the other have Halos...

I don't want it do die, but the thing's been out a year and there's still not a real compelling reason to buy one over a 360. Honestly, I think Sony's made a number of bad decisions concerning the PS3, and now they're reaping their rewards.Dr_Corndog

The PS3 can die after i beat FF13, MGS4, Killzone 2 and GT5. Thats all i want, after that it can die happily!!!

PS3 failing wouldn't be the nail in the coffin for Sony, whatever the PS3 does in terms of sales PS4 will still be released and Sony will continue to make consoles. I just think that this gen is a big first for Sony...suddenly the brand that everyone embraced is turning out to be the kid last picked for kickball and it sucks. I'll agree, PS3 doesn't have many landmark titles available yet. But the system is still in it's first year...look how many unbelievable games came out during the last 2-3 years for PS2. The main issue that bothers me (and I'm sure bothers A LOT of other people) is how incredibly arrogant Sony is despite the fact that the system is trailing far behind. They just refuse to admit that a lot of bad decisions were made, and that attitude really turns me away from the company. I've been a Sony loyalist since I sold my Genesis with 50 games and bought a PS1 in 1997, it was the best console purchase I've ever made besides the PS2 and the original NES. I just feel that if the company big shots came out and honestly told fans "We know we made mistakes, we're sorry, and this is how we're going to make it up to you" then the PS3 would see a big sales jump and have a lot more willing customers.

The PS3 WILL be worth it, it just needs time to find it's stride and that's what I think most critics love bashing about it. When you're number 1 in the world, there are always going to be people that want so badly to see you fail.

I hate Sony because hating a game console matters to me very much. It matters to me so much, I dedicate my name and my sig to hating on Sony and the PS3, rather than have my name and sig reflect my personality. I hate Sony because they put a format in their console which may or may not help gaming. I hate Sony because I don't have a choice in the matter of buying a PS3, they're going to force me to buy it no matter what. I hate Sony because the console is $600 for a complete package, rather than pay the same amount of money over a longer period of time in online gaming fees. Not only disliking a console, but HATING a console makes the most sense in the world. It's a perfectly reasonable postion, rather than worry about events in the real world. I hate the fact that the Sony Playstation 3 is just a movie player, yet for some reason, it has games on it comparable to the competition, and somehow, other games are coming out for it, which makes no sense at all because it's really a movie player.

I will be honest on this, PS3 will not fail or loose, but it isn't the PS we all knew, I mean, look at the released games, they are great, I admit that, in the other hand, these games are not what I was expecting to see from Sony though.

Im a loyal PS fan, I did buy PS2 after 3 months of release, like the PS3, it didn't have alot games in it's first year, but not exactly like PS3, the PS2 had in it's first year Tekken Tag, SF: EX3, TimeSplitters, the Bouncer, Zone of the enders, Dark Coud, GTA3, ICO, Summoner, Soul Reaver 2, PES(WE 5), DMC, Silent hill 2, Onimusha( add to that, all the great Japanese games, I have chip in my PS2 :) ) and alot of games I don't remember, it was great to have these games in the first year, so yea, I was expecting something like this will be in it's first year, I hope next year will be much more games than what is announced will be released, I was shocked that the launch game from "SONY Console" will be a shooter,I hope Sony will not change it's skin.

This holiday is promising for Sony though, they have some decent games that we will playing from Heavenly sword to Uncharted to Folklore to HAZE...etc.

EDIT: last gen, I didn't look into PS3's lineup closely like this time around because I was confident that it will deliver at least four great titles every month so I didn't check at all, i remember checking only for big events like E3 and TGS, but now, I feel like my PS3 drying of games, the same thing goes for 360, both consoles have few games for one year compared to PS2's library last gen.

you're absolutely right. over the past 10 months there have beenliterally zero games for the PS3. what the cows think they are playing are actually movies, and by sheer chance, what they do to the controller happens to coincide with what happens in the movie on screen.

Manti-core here...don't hate the PS3...could've gotten xbox 360 WITH live instead of ps3......but I went for the free online instead ;)....

I remember the dreamcast.....late 90's early 00's those were some of the best gaming moments of my life...I wish I could flashback to late 90's man.....Sonic Adventures....007....Xpendable...SNK.......damn damn damn....

The topic is so right. Why would an real gamer want another system to flop. I personally own a xbox and ps3. I hope they really fix the 360 with the 65nm so there is no RROD. I am just waiting for them to confirm that the 360 is fixed before I get one. As for the ps3, I got it cause it is reliable and I have a lot of ps1 and ps2 to catch up on too. The wii is interesting, I am just waiting for some more games that interests me.

I rather like the competition that MS has bought. The console market is divide into 3 camps right now. And I think competition is good for us, the consumers and the gamers. Look ps3 are dropping quick.... soon I think MS will have to make LIVE free for everyone too once PSN gets on par with LIVE.

Without bluray format the games wouldnt have as high of a storage space, so it is REQUIRED in order for PS3 to function

I notice how you don't provide a response to part 4...I think pretty much everyone can agree on that point. PS3 will get great games and be a great system in the future, but in the meantime Sony needs to swallow their pride and apologize to all of us who supported them since day one.

Also, the blu-ray arguement is so dead. It'll be a factor 5 years from now, but not many people care about HD-DVD or blu-ray at the moment. Only 35 percent of the country has an HD-TV, and until the market penetration is up over 75 percent DVD will still reign supreme over all the other formats.

As long as Blu-ray becomes the definitive format Sony has certainly "future-proofed" their console though.

Its not a matter of people wanting it to fail, but the fact of the matter is that it IS failing.
