Because that's what the fans, on this site and others, as well as Nintendo's marketing have made clear? If the Wii wasn't for younger players and "Casuals" as they are called here, there would be more Gears of War or Metal Gear Solid type stuff. The "kiddy" image is appropriate for the market that Nintendo are going for with this console.
Nintendo's first party software does not have any really violent games, and even in their third party they don't have a really vast library of M rated games.Mystic_Legend

The reason a lot of the more gritty, atmospheric games as well as the more gory games are on the more powerful systems is because those types of games tend to rely more heavily on making the gore/mood of the game as realistic as possible. Thus those types of games usually benefit from the most powerful system they can get.

Thus those types of games usually benefit from the most powerful system they can get. Perhaps, but that seems more like a technical issue. The actual content of these games is very adult, and traditionally Nintendo hasn't done this kind of game, at least nowhere near the level that Sony and Microsoft are doing now. Apart from the respective power of the machines, the games for me is what largely determines this "kiddy" or "adult" thing. It's not a case of one being better than the other, simply that Nintendo prefer one market, and the other 2 prefer the other, and the games reflect that.

well in a way i think what he said is relevant.... I mean, Nintendo after all is the major selling dev on Nintendo consoles. People buy Nintendo consoles for the games Nintendo makes. Sure you can say that about a bunch of devs for PS3 and 360...but how many of those devs/games do those consoles RELY on? Id say not many.Â
If you look at much of the games, it would appear that it would appeal to younger children. Although I did just play with a 6 year old on Gears a few nights ago.

1st off that is sad .....
Now how can you NOT expect the wii to be labeled kiddy ? take one look at its game libary... no really go and look ill wait.

Ok now that you had a look, plz explain how it can't be called kiddy by the general public ? Stuff like Wario ware, cooking mama don't exactly scream "Teh Mature" if anything it reminds me of my 3 1/2 year old nieice's Dora the exploere game's on her Tiger electroic's type game system ( don't know the exact name )
Im not hating on the Wii, but how do you expect people to judge the system when the average game looks like a dora the exploere episode ? Of course they are gonna call it kiddy, and even with games like Manhunt 2 coming to wii, its not gonna change peoples opinions of a Nintendo system being "Teh Kidday"Â its a reputation that Nintendo earned and its prolly not gonna go anywhere for a long time.

Yes. But the reputation that Wii holds from it's display of games shouldn't be an excuse to belittle the console as if it were junk. The Wii still packs an uncanny punch from the looks of the age groups playing from a 2 year old to an 80 year old because they don't judge it from the image when they play it.Nintendo's first party software does not have any really violent games, and even in their third party they don't have a really vast library of M rated games.Mystic_LegendPS3 only has 4 M rated games and Wii gots 3. Though the Wii does have alot more games than PS3, with the vast majority being E rated. I don't really care about ratings, just thought I would find the truth. *shrugs*

Eternal Darkness was published by Nintendo... not first party, but still they published it... and it's violent. Â
games based off diseny movies, games where u play as puppies,or a japanese anime nerd or its all colorfull and flamboyant...but im not hating, the wii is redeming itself with alot of good games coming out this year that arent like that.guitboxdude25
The PS2 has Kingdom Hearts, dogs life and I don't think I need to even meantion Japanese anime nerdy games seeing as it has the vast majority along with the fact it is extremely popular with kids yet it avoids the kiddy tag.Â
I think you will find this all started when Sony did what Microsoft being as original as they are have repeated over 10 years later by basically saying they aren't a threat because they are for children. Fanboys find these comments funny but in reality it shows how much both companys do fear Nintendo.
Is obviously for any age to enjoy, so why bash it? Cant have a little fun? Too serious of a gamer or something?HazeNPopesNot kiddy, but family friendly, which doesn't translate well for 'hardcore' gamers. I personally could care less what sort of stigma is attached to it.

I don't think the general public uses terms like "kiddy" to describe the Wii or Nintendo, i find only Sony and MS fanboys are the ones to do that. If you are seriously not going to play a game becasue YOU think it looks "kiddy" then i feel sorry for you. Nintendo has proven time and time again that their games can be enjoyed by just about everyone. It must piss Sony and MS fanboys off when they see kids playing games like Halo and Gears of War...i find that so funny! NOOOO a kiddy is playing my mature game!?!?!?!? LOLThis is how it works, Wii=mainly G rated games ( that does not mean kiddy)
360= mainly M rated games ( doesnt mean mature since even 10 year olds play gears now a days)
PS3= Variety/mainly teens ( Not too kiddy not too mature but the PS3 does have its M games and E games just not as much)
Well thats my point of view of things, althogh my point of view ain't important to anyone but me....Â
that was the best thesis ive ever seen lmao
and nintendo is kidddy no matter how u put it...for the love of god the only good rated m game on the GC was resident evil 4

I have heard the same thing over and over again and it becomes tired. Please research before you state such drivel.
