It wasn't wierd or scary, and it is essentially the same thing, it's designed to make you feel a bit uncomfortable. The effect the aimed for didn't work on me, it just annoyed me because of the vibration and the slow movement. Unless it was meant to make me angry, which it did.

I played on Heroic, and then played through on Legendary until my file corrupted (Anomily). Heroic was essentially run around and shoot until you take enough damage, and then hide. The hardest bit was in the second level, but even that was fine. It wouldn't have been easy had it not been for the fact it checkpointed every 2 seconds, it was like holding your hand. Legendary was the same except you had to be more careful.

So you essentially cheaped it out by hiding? okay

and you realize you didnt even play on the hardest difficulty really. There's something called skulls.

Em, no. So when I'm near dead I'm not allowed to hide? Skulls are dificulty modifiers, filler content. I am not really bothered with what is essentially added to please people who greatly enjoy Halo. They should not be considered a difficulty level. If you think Halo is hard, you havn't played enough FPS games. Regenerating health = easy. No reason for self preservation.

No, health regeneration typically makes it so each battle is a battle. You can die at any moment in Halo. In something like fear the battles when you have 100% health are freebies and when you have %5 you're screwed.

Seriously though- only like 12 people have beaten halo at its highest difficulty settings (slaso)

Halo is an overrated series that only cater to the casual Xbot crowd thats why.

There are tons of FPS better than Halo 3 this fall. Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Far Cry, and so on.

Do I hate the series Halo? No, I've have a lot of fun sniping people and picking my friends off with a rocket launcher. Is it in my top 10 series of all time? No. Is it in my bottom 10? Heck no.

You want to know why I hate it? It's because I don't like the community there who constantly say it's the best game of all time when that's the only game they played, and never learned to appreciate games like Quake and Golden Eye that made this game possible to begin with.

That does not impress me. And way more than 12 people have completed Halo 3 on the hardest difficulty, even with all skulls on. And no. Health regenration in no way, shape or form, can actually make a game harder. Being on 5% health, and miles away from the next health kit can make a game hard. But if a game can't challenge me on it's standard hard setting, then it is not a hard game, fullstop.

Its just not a game I enjoy. Back when halo and halo2 came out I was way more into Red Faction 1 and 2. Personally I enjoyed playing those games more than halo1/2.

More hype and advertising than any other game. I like Halo and think it's a great series, but having all the ads and reviews and casual gamers screaming BEST GAME EVER over and over again, it's easy to see why some hate it. locopatho

I agree. While the game (the first one)is great, because of those reasons, It so overrated IMO.

Haters will be haters. When you're the best you always have very vocal and loud critics. Just like the US.

I've played all three, but I only own Halo 3 so thats the one I will focus on:

I dislike Halo 3 because

A> The weapons feel like toys, the only ones that feel remotley powerful are the grav hammer and the spartan laser.
B> The enemies are boring as hell to kill, it's like shooting a teddy bear with a nerf gun
C> The people who DO like halo, claim it has the best story ever and that it revolutionized the FPS genre (Which it most certainly did not). This doesn't really reflect to baddly on the game itself, but it's irritating none the less.
D> It is the same freaking game as the last two
E> It feels like a chore to play, it may be just me, but it's just so boring that it's kinda like "come on, be over already, I thought this game was supposed to be exciting"

I do however, like the Multiplayer sometimes. It's my 10y/o brother in laws favorite game of all time so I end up playing coop or vs with him alot.

Hell to be honest, I enjoyed Kane and Lynch a hell of a lot more than any of the Halo games, and that got what? A 6 or something on GS? At least it was interesting!!!!! or GeOW, that game was wicked.

But sarcasm and fun aside, the Flood are meant to be scary. Why do you think they play creepy music when you fight them, show you traumatic screens of guys going insane and try to freak you out by showing you wierd visions on the screen. For the gigilies?

WasntAvailable
It's not meant to be all that scary - it's a homage to Aliens/Starship Troopers/etc. where you show a buildup of tension prior to the fight (Halo is full of lifts from Aliens). If they were going for scary, it'd look more like Event Horizon or Sunshine - see Dead Space for the game equivalent.

I have to admit, there's not a lot of new ground broken in the Halo series - what sets it apart is production values. The whole first game feels like a blockbuster action movie, the second... okay, weak at the end but otherwise good, and the third was just as massive in scope as the first. I've played a lot of games on a lot of platforms, and very few have provided me suspension of belief in an epic story as well as Halo.

Everything in Halo I've seen done before, but usually not this well.
