I play online on PS3 all the time, it never lags, I play with friends online all the time and I enjoy the hell out of it. Why does everyone say it's so bad and Xbox live is so better?? I don't get that, I've never had problems on PSN.

Have you tried Steam? Xbox Live? You would be able to tell the differences if you experienced either for some time. It doesn't have all the features of steam, but considering it's a console it's fine. It's as reliable and active imo.I play online on PS3 all the time, it never lags, I play with friends online all the time and I enjoy the hell out of it. I wouldn't say PS3 online is bad. It's just lacking. I mean what I really don't like is how there is no party system, and even cross-game chat. Thats really all I want. It's been almost 4 years and they still haven't done it, while X360 has had this pretty much from the start. Oh well.
For LIVE users- either probably because they have to pay to play online and PS3 owners don't or cross chat.:P I 've played on XBL and I honestly don't see the difference. Cross chat isn't a big deal to me. It has crap that I can get on my ps3 and computer for free. LIVE isn't worth no where near the amount they charge you for it now. If they had it where you can play online for free and made paying for all that other stuff optional, I'd be fine with that. But no, M$ has to milk you for everything. I'm suprised that they don't charge you to move the analog stick.
Because they don't use it, plain and simple. It lacks a few features, but does online gaming as good or, in a lot of cases, better than Live, which is the important thing and ridiculous since it's free. If I was a Live user, I'd personally be more pissed about Live than the psn, as Live isn't improving gameplay for that fee.
I never played Xbox Live but I do know that the PS3 lacks a few features that Xbox has. Including cross game chat. But still I think the PSN is decent enough, especially since its free. With Xbox, you get what you pay for. The accusation that the PS3 lags is a joke though. Ive been playing on PSN for 2 years and I have experienced little to no lag. Overall, the PSN is a great service for its asking price of zero dollars and zero cents. You do have fairly better service with the Xbox but with a subscription feeof $60, its a little to steep, especially with me earning low income wages.

I have had LIVE for years. I now have a PS3 and see no real difference. LIVE is over rated, too expensive and honestly NOT worth the money. PSN is fine and dones exactly what its made to do...THANKS SONY for letting me play my 60$ games without having to pay more to play..BRAVO..
its inferior but getsa the job done.
KBFloYd
And youve played it right. The diffrences between psn and xbl are so small the only reason there blown out of propotions are to help lems feel better about 60 bucks .
Xbl Gold
Psn plus
[QUOTE="Espada12"]I dont get how pc online is better. Its just diff. Console gaming makes online streamlined, pc gaming gives power to the player.Well compared to PC it is. Though I do think some people blow it out of proportion.
EdenProxy
Giving power to the player makes it better for me, for instance, I got match made into laggy fifa 11 and Dead Space 2 games alot of times for the night. I like to choose the lowest ping server.
No Cross Game Chat, No Voice Messages, Cumbersome and lack of friends list features. Essentially it is well behind STEAM/XBL offer in terms of communication and it reminds me of PC online gaming circa 1998. It is 2010 get with the times.

Psn still kick ass ;)
it's not so bad, but definitely inferior to steam and live imo

This is all that needs to be said.

Yeah if its your only option. Why would I ever buy a PS3 multiplatform game over the PC/360. PSN is the inferior of the three. If that's kicking ass than hey have your opinion.

I can't send VOICE messages, I can select a person on my friends list or recently played games and see all their friends on their list, I don't have to act like a teenage girl and send text messaging with my thumbs, and if I want to talk to someone I don't have to exit my game and go to a video chat session. Steam and XBL do these simple things easy. 2010 and can't send a voice message. Really Sony?

If that's it I don't think too many people are going to crying about not having that stuff for $50 a year (and soon to be $60). All I really care about is just playing games online, that other stuff are mostly extras to me.No Cross Game Chat, No Voice Messages, Cumbersome and lack of friends list features. I don't think a slash works here, as it indicates they are interchangeable. Both the psn and live are inferior to steam, but one charges in spite of it.

the slash means that PSN is inferior to both. We all know that neither welfare service compares to that of the PC

Please that's why how many people have been wanting Cross Game Chat on PSN for how many years now?
But the psn vs live can be argued, as it's not fact. Fanboys will try to play it off like it is, but it isn't. Both services offer features the other one doesn't. That, and the fact they aren't the same price, means it's quite easy to argue. The main purpose of both services is to play games online, and both perform the same in that regard, minus the ps3 exclusives that run dedicated servers with high player caps that the 360 lacks.
You can send voice messages through steam? It plays video games on the internet, and you can play them with your friends. Why would you need it to do anything else?No Cross Game Chat, No Voice Messages, Cumbersome and lack of friends list features. I agree. I'd be perfectly fine not having those features at all and getting to play online for free. I said it before, but I think both companies need to offer more account tiers for consumers. Sony could offer those features Havoc and others want at a much lower cost than $40-60, but keep online free, and MS could offer free online and discount XBL to a much lower price.
I don't see it happening since MS is making so much money off of live, but that would be the perfect situation imo.

Well thats them but when it comes to playing games online they're pretty much the same. It's just you have to play a monthly/yearly fee for LIVE while PSN is free and think most people would rather play online for free rather than paying to do so if they're not going to utilize all of LIVE's features.its fine.
