Why does it seem...

that there is so much anger these days towards PC gaming afficinados. Just because a guy puts his hard earned time and money into building a top level gaming rig doesn't make them arrogant or an elitest! I for one would love to build a pure gaming rig, but my knowledge of PC's is pretty minimal. I am actually envious of these people who can build and upgrade their as easy as it is to change a pair of socks. Also, I think that there is a big misconception that every single PC gamer has that uber rig that can max everything. I personally have moved on to PC gaming but neither my desktop or laptop are capable of 1080p HD. I can get 1600 x 900 on my desktop and 1366 x 768 on my laptop. I think the games look awesome and that is fine for me. Do you guys feel that console gamers seem to have alot of anger or resentment towards PC gamers or am I just blowing this out of proportion?

Building a rig doesn't make them arogant or elitist. Them acting like everyone else is beneath them is what makes them arogant and elitist. I've had at least one console every gen since NES, but I did more PC gaming than console, up until this gen. I've done my share of pc upgrading/repairing/rebuilding/etc, but I never acted like some guy who preferred gaming on consoles was a peasant or noob or something.

^This is where the console gamer hate of Hermits comes in. It has nothing to do with the fact that they don't know how to build a rig.

Consolites feel they need to "prove" their platform is the best, despite it always being a best 2nd place. What I find amazing is all the butt-hurt over DICE focusing on giving PC gamers the best version of BF3 and not just another console-port. That is hilarious.foxhound_fox

Yeah I was quite disgusted with alot of posts in those threads. I remember one console gamer said if consoles dont have 64 players, PC shouldnt either. Talk about selfish.

I know that not all PC gamers are elitist. there are a few on this forum though that are, there's no denying that, and tha's who I'm referring to.

i love your denial of the attitude lots of PC gamers present. It honestly surprises me because I don't think you are elitist yourself. Yes, fanboynism exists on all platforms, but when it comes to elitists, it's mostly PC gamers looking down not only on consoles but on console gamers themselves.

When a Pc fanboy states all his lolness, it starts a flame war with him being a "elitist". When you actually go look at when the word "elitist" gets used though, you'll find its randomly thrown out not on fanboys but on people actually debating a good topic.

There are "elitists" of every system, but what gets me, is the fanboys who are ignorant to the truth :P. PC is indeed the best platform and there is no way you can prove it is not. That said, I love my PS3 and the Wii too. I don't care if people do not PC game, but they shouldnt judge it without trying it, and they should realize it is amazing :P.

Guess you don't remember all the wii folks at the time trash talking 360/ps3 members on this or how the 360 members and ps3 members went to war on prices back on release dates. Seen the whole cycle. Its just typical fanboyism, plain and simple. Again, if you go hunt down the 5+ years of this "elitist" labeling, the majority will be a console member making a claim against a Pc person on the matter. Not pc gamers calling themselves "elitist". Sometimes when I read some of these PC threads, it's like I'm at home eating dinner and the phone rings, the PC fans are like telemarketers constantly trying to convince me to buy something when I already have what I want. I wish they'd stop calling constantly.

But this doesn't happen nearly to the same extent as with hermits. Some PC gamers on this site (that I really respect) have actually accepted this, and they are outspoken againts it when other PC gamers present this attitude instead of trying to deny it.

The "elitist" label is there on lots of PC gamers for a reson. If you tell me that some console gamers showed the same attitue back when the wii was released (5 years ago?) then I would tell you that those people were elitist too. Luckily we barely see this currently, so the label is for all those arrogant hermits to keep who display it a daily basis.

Why do you think this argument pops up billions of time sthroughout the entire internet? Because both sides can't stop whining about the other, saying BS about how each side is ruining gaming or whatever.

I don't have a problem with people looking down on the wii as inferior or gimmicky. That's REALLY just typical fanboynism. I don't have a problem if people continually state how consoles are inferior to their PCs either. This isn't what I'm talking about tho. I'm referring to people looking down on the gamers themselves, just like a lot of hermits do when they use labels like poor, dumb, lazy or incomptent just because of the sheer fact that they game on consoles. That's the elitists I'm talking about. :)
