Why does it seem The Last Guardian will get delayed?

The game has gotten such little coverage for a game supposedly launching this year with a 10+ year dev time.

Will the DelayStation strike again?

They have one more chance on september 7th.

If they don't show the game on September 7th, I imagine it will be delayed again. All I can say is, delay it till it is ready. Don't release it a buggy mess.

It needs to be delayed. There's been nothing but negative previews.

Delays are over. It's actually coming out on October 25th, 2016. My copy is paid in full.

Don't care. There is nothing in my life that requires I own any particular game at a given date. I just buy them when they are out and until I see an article of a game going "gold, I always think it's delayed until proven gold.

You better stop using commonsense here in the System Wars. It makes you come off as being logical, well informed and downright handsome.

I doubt it will get delayed. But there are no signs pointing to the game actually being good. The fact we are less than 2 months away and haven't seen any gameplay aside from the demo at E3 last year is a bad sign and impressions from journalists who played the behind closed doors demo at E3 were not very positive.

It seems like a game Sony wanted to cancel, probably should have been cancelled but survived because people would never stop asking about it.

I hope it turns out good because I loved Shadow of the Colossus and Ico but I'm not holding my breath. How many games have actually been good after being in development hell for this long?

All we know is that TLG could easily top NMS as the biggest flop period since it didn't just get delayed days, months nor a couple years, it got delayed for an entire gaming generation. So if it doesn't live up to the continued hype their fans created, it will be the one of the first flop that could be considered a flop both currently and retroactively because of the generational delay.

Not using commonsense is what got us gamers into this mess of a Gen we are in now!

Because it might not sell due big games (based on fans and media) coming out during the same time frame.

A delay is a delay, but I do agree that it's lame that they had little to show of the game the past 2 E3's. I still don't really know what the game is about or what to expect from it on the gameplay front.

After the first two years of delays, its a safe bet this game was gonna flop no matter when it releases.

No game that has gotten so many years of delays has ever turn or good. Duke Nukem, Too Human, Spore, Playstation Home, etc.

They're probably running scared of announcing another delay due to the abuse and death threats the first person who mentions it will undoubtedly receive.

It's ready when it's ready. Best release date a developer has ever given.

I think it will be delayed while they figure out how to make it look like it wasn't meant to be on PS2. Seriously it looks like shit.

They should have scrapped the old build and started over on the PS4 instead of porting the mess they had on PS3 to PS4 and expecting it to work right.

I think the mess they had on PS3 was ported from PS2. I agree they should have started over like FFXV instead of trying to fix a shitstorm they started from scratch. It's going to flop hard but it will still get rave reviews because 'TLG' and reviewers are so fucking pretentious.

Ummm, this game has been delayed trillions of times over the past several millenniums.

Why would it NOT get delayed again? That's the real question.

Team Ico will probably say they'll have to wait for PS9 to have enough power to meet their vision of what the game should be like.

I was under the impression that this game fell off most folks' radars by now after all the negative publicity.

Sony will delay it so they can prop up their 2017 games list.

They're threatening to release it again so it's popped right back up. I predict it to be the most divisive release of all time if it ever comes out. NMS will pale in comparison.

Yea, from what I'm hearing it's in pretty poor shape. It'll be a miracle if at this point it turns out good, much less great.

Where's your proof? Source? As far as I know, the game is essentially a PS3 game that finally got a paint job for PS4. There's your reason for it not being shown: gamers like yourselves make stupid and uninformed assumptions based on almost nothing.

The game will be released on time, and "gamers" who only care about looks will continue to complain about how it looks.

So you didn't know they released trailers that looked like dogshit? Being such a big fan I would have thought you'd have seen these for yourself.

Yeah, the old 'it's all about the gameplay not graphics' worked a long time ago when this game should have been released. The industry has moved on from PS2 graphics since then. If anything it should be released as another shit-looking indie but the gameplay is kind of okay.

SotC was a snooze fest garbage. But Ico was good. I was hoping TLG would be redeeming but the constant delays for the past 7 agonizing years clearly shows the developers of that game have absolutely NO clear vision or goal into how to finish the game. It's like their IQs completely dropped after 7 years. This development hell is a clear indication of how lost most Japanese developers are in a Western Centric video game market.

Well you gotta admit when you've got the most powerful console in human history, people will hold the graphics to certain standards. Awwwwww Yeah.

OT I do think it will be delayed. I think that this holiday season will be the winter of PSVR. I think they do everything in their power to try to make PSVR take off, including massive advertising campaigns, appearances on late night television, and even launching the Slim at $249 to lower the price of the whole PSVR bundle to $749.

I don't think we'll see anything for core Sony fans until maybe April 2017.

The game should have been the swan song for the PS3. It wasn't and now it's going to end up flopping harder than Fumito Ueda could have even imagined.

And that's a damn shame. Too many egos in the way of it's development.

I play games all the time and I love them. I love movies too, horrors, do you like Hellraiser? What about the Exorcist?

I don't have to play games with shit graphics anymore unless it's a franchise I'm really invested in and want to visit 'old' games. Shit graphics don't get a free pass in 2016 except for weirdos who play indie games who really should just go buy a fucking SNES instead of raving about oh wow this crap looking indie game looks like this SNES game but isn't as good.

SotC only released 1 year before the PS3 launched, so obviously Team Ico was never going to have a PS3 launch title on their hands.

Beyond that, the game didn't even go into full development until 2007 and it wasn't even announced until 2009.

Well, I wouldn't constitute this as proof, nor do I this, but it IS evidence.

Based on "almost nothing"? Where's YOUR proof to stand in opposition to the above two links, before you believe and claim that what I'm hearing is unsubstantiated and "uninformed"? As far as I'm reading from these previews, there are issues that stand far past graphical issues and reason to be concerned. Combine that with the fact that many games that have endured developmental hell don't always end up giving the greatest results (Duke Nukem comes to mind).

I'd love to hear your proof, much less evidence, that lets you stand in confidence towards TLG. I'm hopeful, but I'm also realistic.

Day 1 buy and it will be awesome.

We all know the game will look like a PS3 game. Nobody is expecting the game to be flawless or perfect. Nowhere does anything posted (outside of dumb fanboys) indicate another delay is coming. And yeah, those that are wondering why the game hasn't been hyped and previewed all over the internet are uniformed, to put it politely.

Why should Sony spearhead a game to the masses when we all know it only has a niche following? Most have ridiculous expectations, and few understand the game or developer--proof of that is in this thread alone.

Team Fortress 2 was delayed for roughly 11-12 years.

An E3 demo shown that is (was) four months from release. Usually games that are due to release in such a timeframe aren't suffering these issues noted by these articles, and are already in their final stages of polish. Don't think that I'm wishing for TLG to fail, I want it to be good. I've been waiting for it just as long as everyone else. However, given the propensity for games to suffer and end up worse the longer they're in development, with how long TLG and been combined with some negative previews, mine (and others) reservations are not "dumb fanboy" nonsense or some other rubbish that you think they are.

I don't care if it doesn't look better, and it wouldn't matter to me if it were delayed again either. If I'm reaching, you've not given me any reason in counter to think otherwise, and going "wahhh fanboys!" and "wahhh E3 demo!" isn't any form of evidence. It's attacking other positions without putting any support behind your own.

As for being niche, another topic, but a sensible move by Sony regardless.
