@iandizion713: Lol, are you delusional? 5 pokemon games...they release two at a time, they slap pokemon on other games just to get a new one out, there has to be 30 + plus pokemon games since it first came out. If they sell and people want them so be it, but 5 hahaha.
Because unlike what Sony fanboys want us to believe, they don't care about gamers, they care about profits, just like any other business. And if a franchise isn't worth bringing back for them, then it doesn't come back.
I would have thought this would have been a straightforward thing.

Your argument that there have only been 6 pokemon games was what I was calling out.
@Ragnarok1051: yep, only nintendo could get away with releasing 3 versions of the same game and still have each sell millions, every time.
They're doing this with FE now as well but it's kind of an interesting concept because of the different branching story paths between the countries
@jcrame10: There have only been like 5 Pokemon games mate.
That's false.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Pok%C3%A9mon_video_games
If anything that's awesome. Sony is more willing to let their creators call it a day, and move on to other projects. Sony's first party games themselves have rarely done it for me, but Sony the publisher itself is fucking awesome. A lot of those franchises, also happen to try to pimp out their stories, and stories need fucking endings. As in not going to get a sequel, definitive finish.
It seems with PS consoles, you're always going to be introduced to new franchises, characters, stories and worlds. However, people love whats familiar as much as they love whats new.
Some "dead" franchises from Sony that IMO we will most likely never see again: Crash & Spyro (cuz rights), Medievil, Parappa the Rapper, Ape Escape, Jak and Daxter, Twisted Metal, SotC, Socom, Resistance, Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, Jet Moto, (note: I'm aware there are many more than this, and I'm not really counting franchises that were basically dead on arrival, like MAG or PS Allstars).
We even know that the next Uncharted game will be the last one in the series. While I give Sony credit for trying to innovative and always create new franchises, it is sad that they've seemingly closed the door on so many franchises over the years.
I cant be alone in wishing we could see a next gen Medievil or Jet Moto title. Why does Sony not seem like to revive their old franchises? Ratchet and Clank's reception and thread activity on here seems to show some positive reception for classic franchises.
Do you think Sony should continue its current business model of leaving the past where it is, or should they be more like Nintendo's model and let gamers have some nostalgia by having old school franchises at the front lines? Personally, a healthy of both sounds fantastic to me. Discuss.
The reason sony is selling so much better than the competition is because of the same reason people smoke cigarettes.
Advertising and peer pressure.
Medievil got a sequel and a remake and it bombed hard.
Parappa got a sequel for the ps2 and the series died

Yeah, but i was talking not counting remakes etc.
Crash:I really thank all the gods that ND left Crash and moved on to greater things.
Jak and Daxter: Samething as before with ND
Twisted Metal: They released a TW metal game in 2012 and it was good but it didnt generate much attention or sales. Not Sony's fault that people arent into battle arena cars.
Resistance: that was Insomniac.
Motorstorm : the devs decided to make Drive Club instead of making another MT game, huge mistake
Heavenly Sword : Ninja Theory got upset with SONY with the way the development of the game was going and that it didnt sale 50 million on day one, so they said they will never work with SONY ever again.
Mag: was made by the Socom people
They make good story games only ... once the story and characters get stale its time to move on ... the last of us 2 is now the series to make
