I understand that. Your post just made it seem like there aren't legitimate reasons not to like the game, which definitely isn't the case. The "true gamer" part was just to point out your assumption that a lot of people hate on it to appear to be "deep gamers" is kind of ridiculous. On the contrary, there is a reason to not like most games, however most people let the view point of others taint their own recollection of a game they liked, I'm not defending bioshock per se. I'm just pointing out that there are alot of solid games that hated on because "well everyone else is bashing it"[QUOTE="II-FBIsniper-II"][QUOTE="Zaibach"]As a lvl 42 you should know that there are people who dislike certain games for legitimate reasons, and there are some who disregard their own experience and opinions and jump on the bandwagon, as about assassin's creed.
as for being a true gamer? I dont know where you got that from as I never mentioned in my post, regardless I wouldnt know what that means.....gaming is a pass time for me not an occupation.
Zaibach
Assassin's creed
far cry 2
fallout 3
oblivion es
assassin's creed is not a solid game.[QUOTE="Chutebox"]
I like it so far, it's a fun game.
Didn't realize I was in the minority. :?
You probably are the majority :P
Yeah, you're in the majority. It was a good game, just it was overhyped, overrated. The game was really nicely done, ie, looked awesome, but poor, uninfluencing RPG and moral elements, dated shooting mechanics, and lack of balance runied it a bit. Also, it was a slight rip from system shock. I'm waiting to hear about Bioshock 2 to see what improvements have been made if any. Last i saw, 1 new gun. 1! effort? what effort.Fantastic game. The people that hate Bio Shock are the same who hate Half-Life. If you don't like atmospheric story games you aren't going to like Bio Shock.mistablair
I like hl1, hl2, and hl2: ep2 but I don't like bioshock. The best way to put it is, the ending was just as bad, if not even moreso than that of half-life 2. It was disappointing and very uneventful. I expected more.
There was nothing that got me interested, it felt like I had to force myself to play. I bought it on PC when it first came out and got about half way through and decided I was bored. I picked it up again a few months ago and started fresh/beat it for the first time and was really disappointed. It could be because of how many times I heard that the game was "incredible" and I may have expected too much. The gameplay was dreadful and that's the main thing I look for in when I'm playing a game.
On the other hand, the stories and gunplay in half-life are so much better which made it a lot more enjoyable. I could never get sick of the gravity gun, and the only half life I haven't enjoyed is episode 1. I even liked Mass Effect WAY more than bioshock..
Fantastic game. The people that hate Bio Shock are the same who hate Half-Life. If you don't like atmospheric story games you aren't going to like Bio Shock.mistablairI like Half-Life because it isn't just an "atmospheric story game". It's also a "gameplay game".
I never really understood why people complain about the shooting. I only shoot like 5% of the time.IronBassWelcome to the point.
(I don't even know what you mean by "Unreal Look")gmc2u_64I mean the effect that Unreal games often have that makes everything look like it's covered in plastic wrap.
Welcome to the point.JandurinWy complaining about the shooting if the shooting is hardly needed? I really don't get it.
[QUOTE="Jandurin"]Welcome to the point.IronBassWy complaining about the shooting if the shooting is hardly needed? I really don't get it. You get a whole arsenal of badass looking weapons that are relatively useless. It's like it's mocking itself, and not in that witty tongue in cheek way :^|

It was hyped as a non-linear, FPS-RPG hybrid that would be on par with or surpass System Shock 2 and have "moral choices" that effected how the story progressed.
It ended up being an incredibly linear, run-n-gun corridor shooter FPS, that only shared the name and developer heritage of System Shock 2 and had "moral choices" that effected which of the two incredibly poor endings you got. Not to mention its carbon copy story of System Shock 2 with new characters, a coat of paint and some ideas from Atlas Shrugged.
I hate BioShock because it was nothing of the game I thought it was going to be... merely just another shooter that didn't make any strides to do anything new or anything ground breaking. It was boring, linear and lacked any sort of replay value. It was a very poor delivery given the hype from Ken Levine and his heritage in making games.
[QUOTE="Jandurin"]oh noes! Internet stalker D=IronBassYou noticed it way too late Jand. Way too late... :P Eh, I'm comfortable with the stalker stalkee relationship anyway.
This is EXACTLY how feel, it was just a run-n-gun, there was no atmosphere and the so called choices were a joke...It was hyped as a non-linear, FPS-RPG hybrid that would be on par with or surpass System Shock 2 and have "moral choices" that effected how the story progressed.

I'm sorry, but what is with you with "New Groundbreaking Elements"? Does a Game HONESTLY NEED to do Groundbreaking things to be Good? Just curious. It was hyped as a non-linear, FPS-RPG hybrid that would be on par with or surpass System Shock 2 and have "moral choices" that effected how the story progressed.
