I'm sure they do when graphics are bad by Wii standards.

Why don't HD console shooters get points deducted for having imprecise controls?
See, I can do it too.
Are you implying that Wii has precise controls... ? Yes it does. For motion just use Wii Motion + and it's perfect, but even so reducing gameplay to one swipe with the remote or using the buttons gives sharp controls. Although asking why they don't get deducted is strange, they do when they are precise. I mean you don't get deducted for things obviously, but with Sonic Unleashed the PS3 and 360 versions got 3.5s while the Wii version got a 7.0. They said that the PS3 and 360 had control issues while the Wii had precise, sharp controls. So it can make a difference, but only when it's significant enough to be relevant, just like with the Wii. And how many Wii games on the market actually support M+? A lot of games without it have very unreliable gesture based controls at times.Different standards for the Wii. Same reason a fairly bad (by 360/PS3 standards) online mode will get praised on Wii.locopathoThen why do sheep keep insisting in pitting the wii against the ps3 and 360 if it obviously has different standards? Why do you think hermits keep out of this place(excluding the scenario where a cow declares a ps3 game > than crisis). I see sheep all the time claiming and trying to rub it in other people that the wii has a lot more exclusives; to suggesting that it has better games as well. I own a wii and I just find that silly, not a lot of people in sw mention this point.

I can perfectly compare the offerings of the PC, Wii, PS3, 360, DS and PSP libraries to determine which system is the best (for me), because games are (or should be) qualitatively measured by how much fun i'm having with them, and not by how super amazing that shader on that high-poly HD rock is.

Wii (and DS) shooters have superior controls to 360 and PS3 shooters, yes. IR pointer is second best only to KB+Mouse. Dual Analog shooting feels clunky and ancient now.

Didn't we state that games for x console is viewed with different standards than x console? If that's true then personal opinion shouldn't factor here either. I too like wii games, but to put it next to a 360 game in terms of quality doesn't make sense since like we said the are reviewed with different takes on it.[QUOTE="edo-tensei"][QUOTE="locopatho"]Different standards for the Wii. Because if bad graphics were an overall view of the entire gaming industry, the PC platform would win. Every. Single. Time.I've seen a fair amount of ps3/360 games that have comments in "the bad" section of their reviews about bad graphics, which implies that the graphics are responsible for points being taken off from the game's score. Since no Wii game lives up to the standard set by its direct competitors on the ps3/360, why aren't bad graphics taken into account for those games?

let me answer that with a question.
Why doesn't GS deduct points from PS3/Xbox360 games for bad graphics? Compared to PC games

well your mistake is that Diffrent standards dont make console X better then console Y.
simply because Console Y might have lower standards for graphics, but not for the overall software.
because the end product is still based on opinion, no matter how diffrent the standards are.
For example Litle Big Planet might have scored lower on the wii because the wii has an higher standard for platforming games, unlike the ps3.
But that dosent mean that people cant like LBP more then Mario Galaxy. They both offer diffrent things, so it would be like comparing the wii to the ps3.
What ever suits your own taste.

When did I state that anything is better than anything? Then everything but the PC would get deducted for "bad graphics".siLVURcrossi think the point being made here is the wii released the last out of all 3 consoles and is by far the weakest. as always, you can't compare graphics to pc since it isn't fixed hardware. then again, i thought some pc games got bashed by certain reviewers for being too demanding to run (i think GT did that once)

Yep I've always said this. Games get graded differently on the Wii. Not just in the graphics department. Reviewers tend to have different expectations as to what they want coming out of a Wii game. Certain games on the Wii that score 8.0s and 8.5s would more than likely score 7.0s on the 360 or PS3 for various reasons.
The Wii has much lower standards.

In some situations yes...I prefer to say just different standards though. Like certain genres that would fail on PS3 or 360 succeed on the Wii for whatever reason, but yes if SMG2 had been the exact same game released on another console it would not have scored a 10.
[QUOTE="Thunderdrone"][QUOTE="locopatho"] Dual analogue worked fine before Wii controls, and works fine after. Whereas filth graphics are always bad.tomarlynDual analog for precision shooting never worked "fine". And i didnt mention Wii controls. Dont need to compare it to anything to realize that DA shooting controls are terrible. But they're not. The only thing thats terrible is the person using them.
No, they're simply bad. They have never been good. It's just that we have all learned to live with them because there was no alternative at the time.
Da will always be the most inferior way to control a shooter.
[QUOTE="siLVURcross"]Then everything but the PC would get deducted for "bad graphics".scoots9
This.
Also lower standards.
its lower standards because the hardwar is inferior you and some others are making it sound like its lower standards because people dont try when the hardware is not that great to begin with

duh, certain aspects would be scaled but if you think it wouldn't score a 10 you were not reading the review and kevin v's comments and stop making tis statement like its provable, its a complete bs statement.

That's not necessarily true. MAYBE they would knock off half a point because of poor graphics, but the level design and gameplay would be no less superb. The only standard that varies between systems is graphics, not gameplay. Please Log In to post.
