Why doesn't Halo Infinite have a release date yet?

They gave us a firm release date for Forza Horizon 5 which is November 9th. Starfield even has a release date (11/11/22) and that's coming out next year 😄But Halo? It's still just "2021". What do you make of this, SW? Is there still a possibility it can be delayed? Is MS waiting to see when the next COD gets released? What gives?

Very good question. If i was a lem, i'd be a little bit stressed out right now.

It raised a big red flag when they showed no SP gameplay footage at E3. I think the MP will release this year. That SP is going to be a disaster though.

Why would they have a release date? You think people are not going to buy it because it comes out 3 days/weeks/months/years after they think it should?

No one is going to be like "Screw Halo, they had their chance"; more likely they'll think "It's out!?!? OMG PRAISE JESUS 11/10!"

I am not worried about it, release date related anyways. If I am worried about anything it might be launching without Warzone Firefight, I definitely want that. Campaign will be cool but I mostly came back to play Halo 5 for Warzone Firefight, not being a huge fan of PvP myself, much prefer these PvE skirmishes.

@mrbojangles25: there were plenty of games that were announced with a release date, including the heavily hyped Starfield..so you think MS is just hiding this info as part of their strategy?

I make nothing of it. It is schedule to release this holiday. Sony fannies love to stress about Xbox and its games. 😂

What's really funny is Microsoft thought this game was ready for release last November before it became a laughing stock on the internet.

That doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in their other games going forward. They clearly judge game quality on a much lower scale than Sony and Nintendo since they're giving them all away for $1.

No I think the game is likely a mess and in heavy need of more time, and on top of that they just don't know how much time it needs.

My point is....who cares, really? I mean I would love a new Halo game, don't get me wrong, but at the same time there's plenty of fish in the sea.

Well, with better games coming out this year they probably just waiting to release it in a dead month. No one wants to go head to head with COD and Battlefield

I think the 'epic campaign' will be delayed until next year and it'll be a one-two punch with Halo and Starfield. I don't think it's ready yet. The devs sound as if they're a little too ambitious and are adding more and more things to the open world by the day like dynamic weather.

I could do with only the multiplayer to be honest. It's all most want.

Almost certainly want to stay away from CoD's release date, they're fully aware they need to capture as big an audience as possible and it's pointless releasing within a week to 10 days of the behemoth that is CoD, if CoD is November Halo will be December

All I know is the game looks way better than the last couple Halo games that have released and it appears to have an oldschool feel to it. I like when franchises take things back to their roots, that's how they acquired a fanbase in the first place. Hopefully it will be good and sell very well which proves that people want more of what is good and want the devs to stop breaking what isn't broken. Simple tweaks and moving things along progressively is fine, but breaking the mold and moving away from what made a franchise popular in the first place never made any sense to me. If they want to make a new game then fine, but don't just slap a label on it and some skins and be ok knowing it will sell better under a established name.

Now that halo has silenced the critics (cows) with the multiplayer reveal,haters(cows) are leaning on the release date as a angle to bash halo.

@SolidGame_basic: because it’s an Xbox One game and they have to make sure it runs on last gen properly and you don’t want to loose the fans of the game that don’t own an Xbox Series x and bad Developer and management and they are more focused on multiplayer then single player

I predict Halo Infinite to join the delayed race with Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7 and God of War Ragnarok.

Didn't even cross my mind, but that is odd. Probably too close for them to tell if they can get it out this year or not.

Maybe they're still trying to keep everyone from talking about the sales numbers of Flopturnal? (Yes, it is a sales flop. It couldn't stay in the top 5 for more than a month and now is being sold at a discount 60 days past launch, and patched with "easy modes") Maybe trying to divert from PS5 games coming to PS4? Maybe they figured out math and are mad at the financial implications of $70 games vs game pass?

IDK - but I sure bet lems aren't obsessing over the release dates of PS games without there being any delay news.

Doom Eternal is a better fps than Halo could ever hope to be, but Halo's gunplay is still up there.

You guys do realize that Halo is Microsoft most precious most prized and highly esteemed mascot right. So it would only make sense for them to release it when it's absolutely ready. Sony delayed God of War into next year so maybe Microsoft will do the same thing. And why would that be a bad thing. You sony fanboys always want to throw rocks at Nintendo and Microsoft over stupid little things when in reality all of these companies are holding on to their most precious and prized franchises in order to release them when the moment is just right. So who cares when Microsoft releases the next Halo as long as they release it when it's ready

Damned if they do, damned if they don't. People were complaining that the games came out way too often. Then they create a new engine, take their time and people complain.

It's good that Microsoft seems to want this to be as good as it can be, but you're missing the point. Microsoft thought this was ready to ship nearly a year ago.

A year has nearly passed, and they went from "We're about done," to "No idea about the main game, but we think we can do MP this year, for sure."

This should cause pause for concern for the leadership and development of this key franchise.

With BF2042 launching this year, if Halo Infinite is launching this year, it WILL have some stiff competition.

I doubt it. Mainly because I don't see much overlap between the playerbase for both games.
