@silentchief: So you used sales as an argument as to why these characters are "iconic" and when i presented a counter argument as to why that's flawed your go to is, you're just spouting your opinion.

Well duh, everyone posting in this thread is posting an opinion including you, its just that some opinions (mine) are more factual than others (yours) you're just gonna have to deal with that cow alt.

You made no counter argument just a bunch of meaningless bullshit. Your opinion isn't more factual then anyone's its just fanboy drivel.

So I'll ask you again... what is your criteria for an iconc game character? You didn't list any other then your worthless opinion no one gives a shit about.

I would say it's a combination of sales, critical acclaim and longevity. So what is yours other then " DERP DERP I don't like em".

@silentchief: Scores have nothing to do with it, otherwise every game that scores highly becomes an instant icon.

At least you brought up one valid point in longevity, a character that has been on every platform of the companies can be iconic.

Nintendo has Mario, Sega has Sonic, MS has Master Chief, Sony doesn't have any one character that defines PS, instead it had a bunch of small ones that aren't iconic.

The closet Sony has is a bald angry man lol.

You can't have longevity without sales.

So if it's longevity Sony has Kratos and Ratchet & Clank which have both been around about as long as Master Chief and are still relevant today. If you don't associate one character with Sony it's because the reality is they come up with far more characters and IP's then most companies.

There are plenty of iconic PS characters. With regards to Smash, it's up to Sony to allow the characters should they own the IP or rights.

I just realized that MS has 3 characters in Smash. Banjo and Steve as playable and Vault Boy as a trophy. Also MC is generally one of the most requested and desired potential characters in Smash

But I look at the Playstation side and....nothing....no Kratos...where's Joel? Maybe Abby can be in Smash?

It just hit me how in the grand scheme of things, Playstation characters are simply not iconic, lame and generic

PlayStation characters are not iconic? Thats a bit much isnt it? Sony has Micheal Jackson & Spider-Man......
