Why don't games like FF15, Red Dead Redemption 2, launch on PC?

Don't PC gamers deserve some love too? These games would be great on PC. Why must we wait? I ask you SW because I have to.

Because PC gamers will just pirate the shit out of it and if they put Denuvo there to protect it from pirates then then PC gamers will shower us all with tears about how Rockstar is ruining gaming for them, then they'll try making the ridiculous claim that all PC developers need to do is make games DRM free and PC games can do better if PC gamers paid on the honor system.

Thing is too though that Denuvo is mainly there to protect games during their first few weeks or first couple months of being on the market, which is really where most games will see almost all their sales. However, Rockstar games have greater legs to stand on. GTAV for instance has been in the top console sales chart for almost the entire time since it released. There's no reason to bring Red Dead Redemption 2 to PCs if they're trying to achieve similar results. Plus, GTAV this gen has made substantially more money from the GTA online portion of the game and its micro-transactions. For that to work you need an online system that keeps people playing, not one plagued by cheaters/hackers ruining it for everyone. Consoles have their problems there sure, but PC is worse.

Well for FFXV its probably just because PC gaming isnt popular in Japan, so they dont prioritize it. For R*, they always have been slow with pc havent they? I dunno why, it just kinda seems to be their thing

No idea. A multitude of reasons for a multitude of developers. TBH, with the shit SE releases on PC (1st party), they can stick with consoles.

Well, I suppose much of JRPG sales are going to be in, well, Japan. PC gaming is extremely niche in that country. There is actually a decent audience for JRPGs on PC; why else would Square Enix continue to port Final Fantasy games to PC? I think it's just a question of priorities and time and budget constraints, and FFXV will come to PC eventually.

As for Red Dead Redemption 2, I have not a damn clue what Rockstar are thinking. Grand Theft Auto V has been top or near the top of Steam Top Seller list since its release, and probably sold enough at this point to rival Skyrim. RDR2 would sell like hotcakes sprinkled with crack and ambrosia on PC.

Because people generally will buy a game first on consoles and again on PC for graphical updates. You only get one sale releasing it simultaneously.

But of course that is assuming that the game will be exceptionally good quality-wise.

Because R* does what it pleases because they can get away with it. They truly are the Rock stars of the gaming industry. They can outsell just about anyone else in the business, and they don't even attend E3.

Final Fantasy XV will eventually be ported to PC. So will Red Dead Redemption 2. But the first RDR game will not. The reason being that the game's code is a clusterfuck. It'd be a porting nightmare of epic proportions.

well the main reason is that most of their audience are console gamers , in other cases developing an -AAA- multiplatform game will raise the cost of development and extend it's timeline which makes developers to take their time not to mention that PC Gamers have high standards and a bad performance could piss them off

The top 2 games that pirates will pirate the shit off. Its a good strategy to hold pc release for it to sell on console first. FF and RDR2 would probably come to pc someday but the strategy is purely because pirates ruining pc scene.

Did Pirates destroy Witcher 3 ? Did they destroy FO4 ? FYI GTAV cracked a week after it's release on PC and it still won't come down from steam top sellers chart

Uhh, the piracy excuse...

In case you were living in a cave, piracy was rampant on these consoles: PS1, PS2, Xbox 360, Wii, NDS, PSP.

A little gift for the console warriors here: http://www.geek.com/games/piracy-makes-psp-games-not-even-worth-making-says-god-of-war-psp-developer-1291858/

They probably will be on PC just later on.

The reason they release games on consoles and then later on PC is to make sure people buy the game so the can make dat money since the fear piracy on PC or they fear hackers/cheaters on PC.

I'm sure Final Fantasy XV will be coming to PC eventually. It seems all of the FF games are making their way to PC slowly.

As for RDR2, who knows with Rockstar. It's missing revenue on their part, but oh well.

For a blockbuster title that isn't Blizzard, or an MMO, they tend to see it as a third rate platform polluted by pirates. Publicly they don't like to say it, but it is readily apparent in their actions - delays, poor quality ports, layer upon layer of DRM and in some cases, such as Red Dead Redemption, outright ignoring it.

The irony (of which is great), Rockstar like many studios, started off on the PC. Certainly, their Grand Theft Auto games have naturally gravitated console audience, but the attitude - not of old friends but contemptuously dealing with the ill-gotten, says everything, having said nothing.

These, master race people boasting and posturing, little more than a defense mechanism. In many ways, pitiable.

maybe because PC gamers dont give a crap about final fantasy or any JRPG in general?

and because Rockstar is most overrated developer ever bar none. their games are nothing but boring, generic, stereotype games.

I dont care if they both dont release on PC ever.

Consoles waited 10 years for ff15, I am sure pc will survive to wait 6 months... as for rdr 2, well it's rockstar and their business strategy have never made any sense... gta has been in top 10 best selling list for a year or so on steam.

Trust me, you don't want game development to be stymied by driver/debugging work for the PC platform. The consoles are closed systems that perform wonderfully as a known entity for developers to run their code against.

PC is a whole lot more uncertain, and could potentially make games miss their launch date. I love PC gaming, but it is no mystery why most games launch on console first. Taking programmers that are familiar with the game code and turning them over to PC porting and enhancing the graphics engine to interact with a myriad of hardware configurations is best practice.

A falsehood. Pc gamers have begged unceremoniously for Japanese as well as Rockstar games on multiple occasions.

The extremely excellent YS series to a large extent already exists on pc, instead of requesting more of a good thing (which Xseed have been providing) pc gamers crouch, head bowed begging for Final Fantasy, a series synonymous with fail after fail, disappointment after disappointment.

Taste is very subjective, unfortunately this indicates none.

Denuvo, even though is doesn't effect games, and for the most part, works, has been subject to a prolific smear campaign, even though it protects the product, and is substantially less intrusive or resource intensive or limiting as something like steam - to the point of non existence.

So why? Well... because they can't steal it. If anything this solidifies my comments.

The Witcher 3 is a console game. It barely operated on the mouse and keyboard at launch, so much so that they had to release a patched alternate control scheme, because pc wasn't the focal point of development.

Even Cd Projekt, for all their repeated obnoxious proclamations of the vitality of pc gaming, jumped ship.

Not really sure how that is a good example, quite the opposite.

Microsoft use to make exclusive AAA titles like Age Of Empires. Now pc is relegated as an extension of Xbox, rather than it's own separate entity.

I guess Pompeii can take solace in that it technically still exists.

@the_master_race: no and yes. But they can salvage more sales by making it console exclusive first. Dont pc people always say it doesnt matter? As long as it comes lol

more sales coming from good marketing not by making a game console exclusive or putting denuvo anti-tamper on it

Red Dead...because if they release on console, lot's of us pc gamers will buy it (many pc guys have consoles too). So, I'll buy it on Xbone and love it...then double dip when it comes out again on pc. Rockstar can have my money. But I'd like it to go straight to pc, of course.

It barely operated on the mouse and keyboard at launch, so much so that they had to release a patched alternate control scheme, because pc wasn't the focal point of development.

I bought The Witcher 3 on Day 1. The mouse and keyboard controls worked fine. Plus, I was able to change many of the key functions to those that were more to my liking.

Are you sure you didn't have a bootleg copy of the game? Many games may not have copy protection. That doesn't mean they're not coded to make it more quirky for those who choose not to pay.

I'm willing to bet a PC version of FF15 will get announced at someone next year. SE have been quietly releasing old FF titles on steam for 2 years.
