DOA4 , Kameo , PDZ . all had great salesName a big selling exclusive on the 360 that isn't Halo, Gears, Fable, Mass Effect, or Forza. That's part of it.
Multiplatform games also generally run better on the 360.
The 360 has a significantly larger install base.
Maybe people who have 360s buy more games.
That said, certain genres sell better on the PS3. Look at Tekken 6's PS3 vs. 360 numbers.

maybe that the multiplatform games that comes out doesn't interest most ps3 owners as they do for the 360 owners?
Seriously. I'm trying to think here. Plus I know what you're going to say, "Well, the 360 has a larger installed base," etc., but I think that is one of the most lamest excuses that I've ever heard. Sure, they go out & buy lots of copies of 1st party exclusives like Uncharted 2 & Metal Gear Solid 4, & some multiplats like Street Fighter 4, & Batman: Arkham Asylum, but not other multiplats like Borderlands? Especially when compared to 360 versions?
Gee, I guess that having now what, 27 million PS3 owners isn't quite enough a large number for them to be buying a certain game. Feel free to let me know what you think.
i don't think a larger install base is a lame excuse at all. i mean, doesn't it make sense that there are more 360s out, therefore more 360 multiplats?it;s because the average PS3 owners are 30 years old and aren't exactly a hardcore gamer Wings_008Really, based on what and how would you know this? Is this just your assumption or are you being sarcastic? Anyway I think it might have to do with PS3 owners being only interested in their first party or exclusive game this generation, and the recent success that the PS3 has enjoyed might have something to do with the sales of the multiplatform games!
it;s because the average PS3 owners are 30 years old and aren't exactly a hardcore gamer Wings_008I would beg to differ... Gamers in the 30 years old range (and plus) tend to have more money and probably can afford more games, consoles, RAM, graphics card... Yep, I'm talking for myself... But yeah, if you mean by hard core gamer, not doing anything else with your life, well yeah, I'm not a hard core gamer, but I sure do play lots of video games....
Higher install base. Seriously that would be the main cause whether you find the answer lame or not. Speaking form experience, a lot more people own 360s than PS3s in the States and even with "multi-console" owners they'll buy the 360 version since most of their friends have one.
i have been trying to figure this out myself for ages, and like you i don't think it has to so with installed base, and although a few people bought it as a blu-ray player, that's not a reasonable factor either, i know SONY isn't that brilliant at advertising this gen, but everyone i know knows about KZ2 and uncharted 2, i guess we will never figure it out, the only reason that's remotely feasible is people with both a 360 and a ps3 use the ps3 only for exclusives and use there 360 for multiplatsSeriously. Because some American gamers follow a mentality that if you're an american you should support american market.PearlOfHeavenFor YEARS american gamers have supported Japanese products, look at how well previous Nintendo and Sony consoles have sold (excluding the gamecube). Look at how well the Wii has sold. If you want to get to the truth this is it: Japanese gamers are the most bigot of all. What was the main argument against the xbox? That it was too large and didn't have RPGs. Japanese gamers said multiple times that it was the fact that it was an American product, it was due to hardware size and lack of games. So what does Microsoft do? They release a console that's smaller, and release MORE JRPGs than the competition and do Japanese gamers accept it then? No.
How is the 360 having more customers a lame excuse for why multiplat games sell better?[QUOTE="garland51"]Plus I know what you're going to say, "Well, the 360 has a larger installed base," etc., but I think that is one of the most lamest excuses that I've ever heard. Danm_999
It's perfectly reasonable logic.
Anybody got a % number on the sales for multis in the US? Like (made up numbers for examples sake), 2m of RE5 for PS3 with like 10 million consoles (20%) vs. 1m of RE5 for 360 vs. 15 million 360's (6%)? That'd put a rest to the whole thing, right? Please Log In to post.
