Why everyone needs to own a gaming PC also this gen.

1.Many new third party exclusives from consoles are all coming to steam (Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z, Killer is dead, Final Fantasy XIII lightning returns, Dead Rising 3, Ryse, Fable anniversary, AC Liberation HD, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, Metal Gear Solid V, Dark Souls ETC), more will follow as next gen progresses ( PC is one of the lead platforms along with PS 4 and Xbox one atm). You really don't need to buy all the consoles if you can't afford, just buy a PC and enjoy best of both worlds.

2.You don't need a 1000$ + gaming PC to enjoy latest PC gaming as you don't need to play all games on ULTRA like those rich PC elitists (High settings on PC is quality enough), you can build a nifty rig for much less and enjoy new PC games.

3.Steam (Vast library of games to choose from ) and Steam sales (You get games dirt cheap)

4.Steam Acheivements .

5.Not to mention free online, free mods, better resolution, best versions of games when they release on PC which includes all the DLC's and above all you can enjoy PC gaming as a console ( just hook up a controller of your choice to your PC )

6. You can keep your games forever and play anytime on PC even after 10 years ( Not like you can't play your favourite PS 3 or Xbox 360 games anymore on PS 4 or Xbox One)

I'm not promoting PC gaming or a PC fanboy, personally i find it wise to invest in a gaming PC also this gen as next gen console games are very pricey and many releasing on PC eventually inspite being hyped as exclusive, why not have a gaming PC too where you can buy games really cheap and can keep up easily with latest games?

You don't even have to be rich to dedicate a lot of money to PC gaming, though. It just depends on where your priorities are.

Out of all the reasons you could of used, you use Steam Achievements? Achievements have been dead for years.

Its fun unlocking them to 100 % lol. Its addicting =P

I don't know about everyone, let's be real here the PC is an enthusiasts platform. You have to really be into games to really want a gaming PC, and really enjoy the benefits of a gaming PC. More to the point there are the games, if you're not into niche or games with deeper gameplay, then you're not getting that much from spending on your PC other than playing the same blockbuster games you would have played, but better looking.

The PC's true excellence is there for people who like depth, or creative, or unique experiences and all that jazz, and if you're not into that you really don't need a PC. If you just want "blockbuster triple A exclusive game" or whatever, they are better off going with a console.

I mean you could also be into PC purely on needing to play your games at the highest level possible, but again enthusiast.

If you own all the consoles then number 1 is worthless.

Eh 2 is nothing much.

If you like physical copies then number 3 is worthless.

And 4 and 5.

Number 6...uh not always.

No you do NOT need to own a gaming PC. It depends on what and how.

PC is only good if you like graphics and resolution.

PS4 and XB1 already do 1080p just fine, and PC doesn't have games with amazing graphics like The Order 1886. It looks like CGI. PC doesn't have a game like that. And FF XV also looks abit CG, in an open world. Not on PC either.

With an xb1 and ps4 you get amazing GOTY material exclusives like Until Dawn, D4, and many more. On PC you get some crappy top down RPGs that are too complicated, and you spend more time reading than playing.

Consoles are for playing games. PC is for work.

This is very well put. I've been gaming all my life (currently 26), I came out of the womb with a nes controller at hand. I've played on consoles, PC, and handhelds throughout the years. I didn't build a new pc when the XBox 360 launched, and I opted to stick with the consoles last gen. But man did I miss out lol. Nothing has ever matched being able to max out games, and I missed out on a lot of great PC games. I decided to build a new PC earlier this year, and I am so glad I did. So much has changed since 2004 lol. PC gaming is better than ever these days.

A lot of anti-pc gaming guys on here fail to acknowledge that the gaming PC is used for much more than just gaming as well. If I hadn't screwed around with PC's & PC gaming back when I was little kid, I probably wouldn't have learned as much I do for my career path these days, nor develop a passion for it. I learned so much about hardware, and how to troubleshoot/fix software issues myself. But that was back in the shitty windows 98- XP/Vista days, those problems are rare as shit now, and it's usually user error. But I digress.

Agreed . Plus Backward Compatibility . I'm currently playing Thief 2 : The Metal Age , thanks to BC . It's an incredible game and unbelievable that this game is over 14 years old . When it comes to gameplay , it feels way ahead of today's dumbed down games .

Disagree. My laptop lets me play any PC game I want to play. I don't need or want a gaming PC because it would be a waste of money for me.

PC is a good secondary, not primary. Console exclusives are almost always better.

I agree with @jg4xchamp . If gaming is your main hobby, and you want to play games that makes yourself lose into another world then PC is the way to go .

I mean , you don't find time consuming games like Total war or true Civilization games etc on consoles . However if you are just a casual gamer and want to pick a game on a weekend and finish it in a day or two then consoles are better for you.

And that's ok , but what's the problem then .? The problem is when devs ruin long running franchises when they multiplatform, to make new comers happy .

PC is primary for me. Consoles are just luxury items. Still gonna buy a ps4 though.

PC is for people who like to push the boundaries and have control over the hardware.

I already have a PC and all I play is Dota 2, Football Manager, and the occasional other game. Vastly prefer consoles and the fact that PC fanboys are the most obnoxious group outside of Android drones doesn't help matters.

Other way around. Game on PC wherever possible as it's the objectively superior gaming platform whereas buying any one console will only give you a handful of quality exclusive games every gen, if that.

If you want access to a wealth of new IPs, and are seeking deeper, more complex, and generally more creative games then yeah I guess you "need" a PC.

If you don't want that then it doesn't really matter, though I am always surprised by the amount of people on online forums who don't want that.

You probably should spend about $1000 on a PC.

I woudn't spend any less. Sure at the end of last gen the hardware was far exceeding the PS3 and 360 so it was cheap....but this is a new gen....and all these games are going to run best on new hardware.

Other than that....theres no reason to not own a PC

PC is my first pick for a primary system. All the rest just don't compare (to me). There are plenty of folks that won't take the time or effort to get a decent gaming PC rolling (and you certainly don't need 'top-of-the-line' to donkey punch a console). That's their choice though, I can't fault anyone for not agreeing.

Just play some games and enjoy yourselves. You're only going to be on this planet for a few more decades +/- so just relax and play a few games in the meantime. :D

Console missed out on all those popular 2013 pc exclusives like Teleglitch which has an impressive all time player peak of 216 or Soundodger+ which peaked at 37 players and Actual Sunlight which peaked at 26 players.

Meanwhile CoD Ghosts peaked at 13,000 players on pc.
