[QUOTE="Spartan070"]So 50 Cent: Bulletproof is a better game than Ninja Gaiden?GundamGuy0
big rigs is the best game evar!
Sales is a worthless indication. Myst was an all-time multiplatform best seller and it's total garbage. System shock 2 was outsold by quake 2 which is a better game? We go by ratings as gamers are interested in good games, not winning a popularity contest.
Opinions over logic??? Who's logic? EA's marketing dept?
So 50 Cent: Bulletproof is a better game than Ninja Gaiden?Spartan070like I said it's not the best system to judge, but Someone might think 50 cent is better than Ninja Gaiden. I mean it sold more than Ninja Gaiden than obviously it had something Ninja Gaiden didn't.

Well it's popularity with game critics or the general public no matter which one is used. So it is a popularity contest unless you just go by your own opinion and don't even care about trying to prove the games you like are better than the games someone else likes.
Prime example. You think Quake 2 is better than System Shock 2 therefore it's true for everybody? And you can not speak for majority because the majority pick System shock 2...Sales is a worthless indication. Myst was an all-time multiplatform best seller and it's total garbage. Can you tell me that is better to hear an opinion what's is the best than a set mathmatical standard?
so what about horrible games which sell well?you right I have horrible logic. So does billboards, stock market, NPD, and all the other people who goes by sales.
seriously, i've said it before, your posts are so empty of logic it scares me.

Movie critics loved Titanic didn't they? So going by Gamespot scores would be similar to using Titanic reviews to prove it's one of the best movies ever. As I said before using any method to prove one game is better than another is questionable.

I choose ratings over sales because if it is easily consumable by the masses (resulting in high sales) chances are it's mediocre crap that is...easily consumable.buckfush311what!!! rating goes by no masses. It's one or a group of people sitting around stating their opinion.

Are you not trying to argue that reviews are worthless? What I asked was is Titanic your favorite movie? Casablanca has made less then 2M while Titanic has made nearly 2B, your logic is flawed.[QUOTE="shadow_lord_11"][QUOTE="shungokustasu"][QUOTE="shadow_lord_11"]so what about horrible games which sell well?you right I have horrible logic. Britney spears is a better musician then Sarah McLachlan, Spiderman is a better movie then Crash, Burgerking has better food then Tony Romas. natrone06Sales wise yes, yes, and yes. I can't go by your personal opinion because quite frankly they're personal.
So we are going to judge the quality of a game by its advertising budget now?cakeorrdeathMovies and the Music industry does it. Why can't video games?

Do you realize you taking opinion over logic reasoning? We all played games that recieved AAA and thought AA. We played games that recieved A and thought AAA. Why we going by ratings still? We have to be smarter than this. To take someone else opinion, and say that it is the standard. What if you disagree with him? You have that right. How can we say a game is better than your game logically? Which is better Oblivion or GeoW? Well, Gamespot says neither. Do you agree? What if I said, Well more people bought GeoW than Oblivion so it's the better choice. Would you agree then? How does Billboard rate there top 100? How does the Stock Market rate the top companies? How do we determine the winner of a console in a generation? The answer is sales. Sure it's not the pefect way to determine the winner, but wouldn't you agree it's better than a emotional opinion? Gouki vs. Yunshungokustasu
It should be a combination of both. If a game gets high ratings from 30+ reviewers and it also sells 1 million copies, it's pretty safe to say the game is worth a purchase. Unfortunately there have been some games that were terrible and yet still sold over 500,000 copies because of the brand name. In this case, you wouldn't want to go with sales, but with the reviews. I would take reviews over sales any day. Just look at Pyschonauts and Beyond Good & Evil. Two games that didn't sell well, but got great reviews. I own both of them now, because I read many reviews about each game and now I'm glad I purchased them.
