Yeah look at some of the top games of 2009: Uncharted 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Assassin's Creed II, Demon's Souls, Killzone 2 and Halo: ODST and Modern Warfare 2.

You'll notice that U2 wasn't on PC and neither were Killzone 2, Demon's Souls (GS GotY) or that expensive Halo expansion we all still play. Just as well, ACII came out on PC later and MW2 was no different then the console iteration.

PC still has great games best played on it (like Starcraft II), but even if a game like Dragon Age is less stellar on consoles I don't think someone would flip out over a few differences and go buy a $2000 rig for one game.

My 3 year old PC which is worth around 500 USD right now can play all the games out right now and a lot of them at high settings and at 1680x1050.

I built my PC from scratch for around 700 USD back in late 2007 and it is still doing fine and in need of no upgrade.

If you already have a computer you can cut hundreds from the budget.

A gaming PC does not cost 2000 USD.....

And a lot of PC games do not get reviewed on GS, plus they have higher standards.

PC has the largest amount of high rated exclusives this gen anyway and probably the others before it.

I am not saying consoles are bad, it's just that they are not as good as a gaming PC.

Build me a good PC for under 1000 bucks. EdenProxy

Here is one for half that price.

In my mind I was including handhelds as a hermanticore. This generation would be a lot less interesting to me without the DS.

Pretty much this, most PC games are multiplat or at least on 360 as well. Plus TC apparently believes spending tons of time grinding away in WoW makes it a better game just because of it, like how playing Iron Man 2 is better than the movie because its longer.

Just buy yourself world of warcraft and you'll be on that 1,500 hour log mark in no time.

That is true but I gave up on WOW untill they have MORE factions... I want to be EVIL henchmen for the Burning Crusade!!! You puny alliance and Horde will fall, and fail to stop us!! Really, the Alliance and Horde are like a bad marrage... they work together at times and want to kill each other the rest of the time. Put in EVIL and GOOD A few groups working for old evil gods and good people working for A'dal to stop the evil BC.... ...Also other classes... They need to rethink the class system instead of having the classes all as equal as possible they need to look at strengths and weakness. = distances do not need to be all the same. ...

anyway when true plug and play is made and games figure how to change settings to best for that computer automaticlly THEN people will pick it more.

there's a difference between favouretism and fanboyism.

that's what he is refferring to when picking sides, not consoles.

A Maniticore can have a favourite console case point like me- where I favour the Xbox360 more since I play it the most.

Fanboysim is irrational bias towards a console or Machine of their choice and completed hatred towards the alternatives.

Fanboyism =/= gamer

Fanboyism is the antithesis of a true gamer.

well by that logic you may as well not spend money in buying handhleds either since a Laptop is more powerful and can offer more.

Consoles have been around for 30 years now. It's not some fad that a lot of die hard PC owners have been wishing all these years.

The major selling points of a Console and Handheld are:

1 Convenience- PC owners here can site as many examples as they can to say that PCs are more convenient, but overall Consoles win out- If so there wouldn't be millions of poeple buying multiplat games on the consoles when they could just get it on the PC.

2. Easier to use- Not every one like using a Keyboard and Mouse.

Even if FPS and RTS games are more precise on a Keyboard and Mouse- a lot of people feel more comfortable holding a control pad.

A lot ofpeople prefer to hold a burger like a control pad, then be surgical with a kife and fork.

3. A lot of people simply do not , and really shouldn't care about worrying if there hardware can play the latest games at the highest settings, or they have the right drivers for the graphics cards or have to do optimisations to get the best of their games- where as a console game, all the optimisation is already done for you. (though patches here and there are becoming the norm) simply put the disk in the console and play.

4. a lot of genre are more popular on consoles- Sports Games, JRPGS, Fighting Games, and a few years ago FPS where thought to be unplayable on consoles- but this is the year 2010 now and Console FPS are HUUGGEE!!!

However a True Gamer- not fanboy gets the most of out gaming by having it all.

Like I said before- I can enjoy playing Starcraft 2 right now- and setting it at the best experience my PC and iMac can afford.

Xbox360- the gaming workhorse that has a very good standard for online play, multiplats and overall game library

PS3- I use often for media tasks like watching movies, music and the occasional exclusive
