Its cool to watch the graphics evolution throughout a gen though. Also, for me, I prefer less bells and whistles for higher res and framerate. Image quality is pretty important to me. If this gen is 720p (which is fine for me) I would want it to have lots of AA. Clean picture is necessary imo.

Besides, if everybody has a right to bash on each other for personal tastes, I can surely bash on everyone for engaging in silly arguments. Debating over the quality of the ps4 and the Xbox One right now is about as accurate and meaningful as observing two year olds building blocks and trying to determine which one will end up more gifted and successful as adults.
To be fair Graphics don't matter a whole lot even at the end. Look at last Gen and the Wii, it came up from behind and raped everybody and IMO it didn't even have good games let alone Graphics. I could count the number of good games the Wii had on my fingers and half of those have a fat red plumber in them named Mario.

If your TV is 1080p and you playing 720p , even with high levels of AA , youll get a kinda blurry image anyways. Now scaling ..duh!
Not gonna happen to the same extent this time. Devs are already very familiar with the architecture and limitations of the hardware in these system, because it's just regular old PC hardware using regular old PC architecture. In previous generations, Sony and Microsoft had custom hardware that needed to be deciphered. Simply not the case this time. Certain graphical techniques will probably be developed such as better forms of AA that aren't too resource-intensive or more efficient forms of ambient occlussion; we'll also see more multi-core efficient engines get developed as time goes on, but there isn't gonna be a drastic difference between early gen games and last gen games. Hell, we're already hearing devs like CDProjeckt RED saying that they're pushing the consoles to their breaking points.

Well the Graphics of a console at launch DOES have a huge impact on alot of gamers, and while it is true that Graphics evolve on each system Down the line, the graphical comparisons should be looked at from the day the consoles are out, and then continued on till they are discontinued (or new consoles arrive from the same manufactors).
Ofcourse we all know Graphics at launch are not final, perfect dark Zero looked freakin horrible, but even that was compared back then, sooeh. Biosness as usual.
The whole graphics doesn't matter is complete bs you bought a next gen console for the new games and updated graphics saying I'm in in for the gameplay is utter crap you buy a new console somewhat for the new graphics

If the Xbox One can produce games that look like Ryse that are actually fun to play, and the multiplatforms run consistently, I think the only people who are going to care about the ps4 being stronger are ps4 owners. I marveled at how gorgeous Killzone is, but it didn't keep me from having fun with Dead Rising 3 -- and no it doesn't run at 10 FPS like people think. I've hardly noticed frame rate drops at all.
That was true in past gens because the architectures were different and you couldn't precisely tell exactly how things would turn down in the end. This gen both consoles are basically the same and the XBONE is clearly weaker, sure it will get better graphics as time goes on but PS4 will as well and it will maintain that lead.

Of course those shiny, new graphics of a brand new console are something to gawk at when you first get your system, but there's so many people spelling out the future of both consoles before we've even seen how developers are going to take advantage of the hardware in the long term. These consoles aren't even half a year old, and people seem to be so self-informed about performance that they believe they can predict what they're capable of.
Both consoles will boast impressive visuals in the long term -- ps4's will be better, but that doesn't mean Xbox One's won't also be impressive.

I'm still waiting for a game where AI is not predictable or the choices you make actually matter. I'd take that over 1080p running at 60FPS with the same gameplay we've had for the last 2 decades.
@Nengo_Flow: That's entirely possible, but at the same time, none of us know for sure. Sure, a better comparison would probably be Gears 1 and Uncharted vs. the last year of Xbox 360 and ps3, since the transfer into HD development was challenging. Regardless, the graphics will get better on both consoles, without a doubt. It's just something that happens.
But from what I've seen on both the ps4 and Xbox One in terms of upcoming exclusive titles, they look damn good across the board, and I think it's simply far too early to start writing off anybody in this console cycle based on what's out now, because as history has shown, launch lineups often don't end up relevant even a year into the generation.
The best of both consoles is yet to come, and both will be impressive.
As an owner of both the XBO and the PS4, all i can say is both the current gen machines suck right now.. it was a mistake being an early adopter, the titles have been poor and the the graphics are far from impressive.. PC is outputting higher than both these consoles and i have a fairly mid-high end pc.
No exclusive has yet to be a console seller and nothing in the near future looks to be that way either.. who ever is supporting their console are scraping barrels to justify their purchase.. Honestly they are both a regrettable PoS.
If PS 4 games are looking and performing better now then that will likely continue throughout the gen. Also remember that these consoles are much more dev friendly so it shouldn't take nearly as long to see these consoles taken to the limit.
