Why GTA IV WILL HURT PS3 MORE THAN IT HELPS

Kid walks into the store, "ZOMG TEH GRAM TEFT AUDO!!! I'LL BE TEH COOL!!! And look at all those PS3 over there on the shelves, under all that dust!!! I gawta get one mawm!!!!! C'mon!!! Hey, whats all that commotion over der!! *Walks over to Xbox 360 section and pushes his way through the hordes of gamers*. WHOA, TEH HEY-LOW TREE!!! HEY-LOWS COOL, BUT SHOOTIN UP INNOCENTS IN STOLEN CAWP CARS IS EVEN COOLER. *Hears customer ask for GTA IV for Xbox 360*. WUT?!? TEH GTA IV IS ON TEH X-BAWCKS TREE CITY!?!?!? *RUNS BACK TO VACANT PS3 SECTION, PUTS PS3 BACK ON SHELF, COVERS IT BACK UP WITH DUST AND GRABS THE RECENTLY PRICE-DROPPED, SMALL CHIPSET XBOX 360.

With the hype that will follow GTA IV in the months before its release, even casuals will know that its coming out for Xbox 360 too, so there goes the "people will associateGTA with P.S. and buy PS3's theory. Halo 3 will just have been released and people who haven't upgraded to a next-gen console yet will be strongly looking at the Xbox 360. The small chipset SHOULD be out by then (supposed to be out this summer sometime) and a price drop would not surprise anyone. Arguably the biggest PS2 game for casuals (and A LOT of PS2 owners were casuals, so buying an Xbox 360 over a PS3 would not phase them one bit) appearing on the cheaper, just as technologically good system with much better games will help Xbox more than Playstation. This will be the "deciding factor" for a lot of people IMO

Well, if people want a ps3 (which we know from C|NET that they do, they just can't justify buying one), then why would they buy a 360 for GTA. If they want a ps3, GTA will push them to finally buy one. This is where the whole "PlayStation brand" thing comes in. It doesn't matter that the 360 is cheaper if you want a ps3 and GTA.

Brand loyalty is present in may situations. I tend to favor GMC cars and GE fridges. Why? I dunno, i'm just used to them, and i'm willing to pay for them. Why did Sony Bravias sell so well last holiday season despite being as much as $1000 more than the competition? Brand.

Hell, i saw a guy in GameStop the other day thinking about buying a ps3 for MLB 07 The Show and a bunch of sports multiplats. He was willing to spend an extra $200 for just one exclusive. Thus is the power of the PlayStation brand.

GTA IV will run better on PS3. Standard HDD and BluRay FTW.

I don't think parents are gonna buy theres kids a system for an M rated game. If anything the kid may want a 360 or PS3 to play GTA but his parents are gonna buy him a Wii cause it's new for Kids and they can use that as an excuse to not buy the more expencive system "no johnny those games are M rated your to young(Muwahahaha now i can buy lil jimmy a DS and get my kids off my back and not spend so much money)"

People are going to be surprised at how well PS3 will sell with GTAIV.

Being multiplat isn't as big as some of you seem to think, but I suppose nobody can be sure so we'll just have to wait and see.

Well yeah, thats what rockstar themselves were implying. theres a distinct difference in being hard to develop for and having to dumb a game down becasue the Consoles manufacturer decided not to make a very helpful, near essential peice of hardware standard.

GTA4 for PS3 will be much smoother than the 360 version, when PS3 gets the superior GT4 we will see Lemmings jump off a cliff!! i cannot wait !!WalterPaladines

let me think what engine is gta4 using the rage engine. what games use that engine. table tennis and that game runs real smooth. the point of this devs already worked with 360 and knows its strenghs and weaknesses and its their first time working with the ps3. alsowhich version did they use with the trailer and the demos thats right little cow the 360 version stop being a fanboy thank you.
