I can't think of the name of the game at moment, but while you're playing SP human players will be able to become the AI. That's brilliant!

Some games are better-suited for single-player mode and others for multi-player game-play, but both aspects are important to me. It depends on the genre to a large extent.

You cannot replicate the quality of a solo experience like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Silent Hill 2, and probably Bioshock by having additional human players involved. It would make the game-play less intimate and personal. These games either drip with atmosphere, tell an extremely engaging story, have an "epic" feel to them, or they possess a mixture of these attributes, and criteria like these are particularly valuable for single-player game modes.

Specifically, however, I think shooters (run-of-the-mill ones) gain a lot in value and fun when there are other people to play with. Action-adventure titles, however, since they're usually more story-driven, don't get this same type of entertainment boost so I wouldn't even care if there is a multi-player mode or not in them.
