People who enjoyed Halo2 on Xbox Live, watch this video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsqzKdaoQjk&mode=related&search= It's a GameStop ad you might have seen before. Doesn't that bring back fun gaming memories?
I am not a Lemming, or a Halo fanboy who believes that it's the only good shooting game (and I don't want to push others to like it if they don't). I haven't read the books, don't have legendary edition preordered, don't really even care about the story. But Halo2 was a blast to play with other people on Xbox Live. Everything worked smoothly. Matchmaking & levels gave you incentive for your team to win. Custom games were always fun (remember playing zombies? Flipping tanks? And I know you played Power of Tower at one point).
I think that the game's core simplicity was also probably a very big reason the game was as fun as it was to so many players. You never feel lost with the controls in Halo, whether it's sniping or splattering people with a ghost. Players of almost any skill level could play the game and have fun. And everything about the game has that "clean and crisp" feeling to me.
Let's post some great moments we had playing Halo2.I'm sure we can expect even more from Halo3, because we'll have a lot more stuff to mess around with. I can already imagine crazy forge matches, and trying to get easter eggs playing online co-op.
some of my Halo2 moments
-One time, I shot a full warthog a little bit with a plasma rifle, and it went down into the water on Waterworks. Triple kill... that was so funny to me.
-There was also that time where we were singing in a custom match. One of those childrens songs where somebody sings a line, and then a bunch of kids repeat. Except the "kids" were a bunch of us with voice masking on. I could not help but burst out laughing, that was so damn funny.
-Oh, that makes me think of that one time on a Coagulation big team battle. Me "Maybe it would be cooler if there was in game music." Friend w/ fake lisp "Well, we can jutht make our own moothik!!! (starts singing - he sucks at singing)."
-Then, getting hit by the train on Terminal when we jumped out of the top story of the garage building in a warthog.
-Doing well in double team matches (2 vs. 2) with my friend.
-CTF or assault on waterworks or coagulation with a lot of people was always fun.
-Obviously, the first time we flipped tanks was awesome (one tank on top of an upside-down one, then flip and the top one goes flying).
-Yelling "OH MY GOD THEY'RE SHOOTING AT ME!!!" in a British accent when the game started on Warlock.
-Countless splatters with the ghost (the ghost is awesome :)). Sometimes even with a warthog. Or a wraith. Or a banshee.
-Lastly, the "overload glitch." My friend and I would talk about it's greatness in big team battle pre game lobby, to make people believe us. It meant that everybody crouched in a circle and threw grenades at the ground at the same time to autimatically win the game (except, obviously everyone died and had to laugh because they believed such BS). The best overload glitch instance was when one guy didn't take the bait, but got the rocket launcher and fired at all 7 of us (7x betrayal).
So basically, I'm excited for Halo3's XBL functionality. I would say, Screw finishing the fight... but there's 4 player online co-op, with scoring, so even the Halo2 players who couldn't tell you what happened in the game's campaign mode will be able to this time.
