Let's face it. They are terrible at making console's, but make FANTASTIC games. Hardly anything sells on their consoles from third partys, which is why the support is dreadful. Only Nintendo made games usually sell well on their systems. Why buy a console for only one companys game's? Nintendo going third party would be a great idea IMO. That way we can have a Great console ALONG with the fantastic Nintendo games. Why would you against this? That way you dont have to pay $300 to wait every year for 2-3 games to play on it.

sega sega and did i mention sega. as soon as they became third party the quality of there games drastically went down. the best sonics are sill the one on the dreamcast, genesis and gamegear.

also its possible they wouldnt want to go third party as theres an interview stating they wouldnt do that.

price is a big issue. without nintendo the prices of consoles would go up because they always have the cheapest console and they make FANTASTIC Handhelds

finally, nintendo keeps providing a unique gameplay experience and are the innovaters to gameconsoles. motion controls, analog, tablet gaming,3d gaming like mario 64 all would have taken a lot longer if nintendo didnt exist.

No, no. Nes, and SNES were top notch. Should have said N64 and after.

I thought the gamecube and N64 were fantastic consoles. In its own right, I think the Wii is pretty good. What are your reasons for such a blanket statement?

I owned a N64, and still own a GameCube. They were great for the games, but as consoles, the competition destroyed them. Don't get me started on the Wii.

Definitely. It's very much common sense that Nintendo has been terrible at making consoles lately, and I loved the SNES.

Huh, so, because you don't like the Nintendo Wii, its a bad console? I don't understand your logic here. the 64 and gamecube were destroyed sales-wise, but they had good games. The Wii is destroying the competition sales-wise, and it has good games. What exactly is your criteria for judgement here?

Maybe it's because it will kill their reputation as developers and perhaps their franchises (Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, etc) will go down horribly?

I don't feel like it's going to be horrendous but I feel like it won't live up to the PS3/360 counter-parts. I mean, are you seriously going to feel comfertable playing the game on the Wii with it's oversized controller or feel more comfertable on the 360/PS3 with more comfertable controllers?

Nintendo is the last hardware manufacturer that I want going third-party. Their quality can easily go down. Instead of trying to make super good games so they can sell; a.) Games and b) Consoles - they will go to only caring about game sales. Also, Nintendo sucks at making consoles? Hahahaha, they are pretty much the only ones focused on making a gaming console. Everyone else is about the multi-media machine. Nintendo stays!

The only reason Nintendo was so good at making consles were because they wanted to appeal to the casual game Market. They got thier wish and got more sales than PS3 and 360. However I feel as if they just said screw the Hardcore gamers, we are going to include tons of shovelware within the game library so we can get some of that casual gamer money. I sold my Wii for a 360 because the library was absolutely pathetic. The last game I liked on it or cared about was No More Heroes 2. That came out in 2010. The online is a joke on the Wii. I mean friend codes are ridiculous. Nintendo needs to eliminate friends codes on the Wii U. If they don't fix these things you will not be seeing a sale from me anytime soon.

I have my PC for the best online, hardcore, and high definition gaming. I didn't like the Wii (it still has its amazing gems) but I still love Nintendo. The Wii U is looking to fix those problems that the Wii had, so that is all good for me. I'm most likely going to get a Wii U. =) The PS4 and Xbox W/E is on the down low.....

It would be bad for the industry. Nuff said. I've sold of my Wii but I know that more consoles on the market make the competition tighter which in turn makes my gaming experience on my ps360 better.

Are there or are there not great games for all those consoles? Are the consoles reliable? Is the Wii not the runaway sales leader this gen? Your arguments just don't seem to hold much logic.

1) The great games on them are mostly Nintendo games, hence the whole point of this thread 2) Yes they are reliable, just like the ps3, xbox 360S, your point? 3 Who the hell cares about sales. They don't mean s*** for quality. COd, bieber, britney spears are the best in their class then by that great logic.

Sales and the games to back it up :D. It's not my fault you're to lazy to look up the amazing 1st party and 3rd party releases on the wii

nope they make fantastic consoles/hardware.

Gamecube,Snes,DS,Gameboy,NES are all testaments to that.

Sure the wii hasnt captivated the hardcore crowd but to say they are terrible at making consoles even thought they brought in a new way of playing games and more reliable than the HD twins due to older hardware then outselling them is no easy feat.

Also used my DS and Wii for more than just nintendo games, Capcom itself has provided me with hours of great games on my wii :S sure some are ports but its not the point those are still good games.

Um, he's right. They've been more about creating party gimmicks lately than providing players with a 'core' platform to play games on. I don't understand anyone who would claim that the Wii would be their main gaming system, for example. It's like deciding it would be a good idea to eat candy bars for the rest of your life instead of having proper meals every so often.

1. Resident Evil 4 and Goldeneye 64 are Ninty first party? 2. Actually, Nintendo has an excellent track record for reliability. Better than MS or Sony. Wouldn't that indicate a quality console? 3. You used the sales argument for the N64 and Gamecube, but conveniently dismissed it for the Wii. Sales are certainly not always indicative of quality, but we are talking about businesses here, and profit matters.

Gimmicks propell things forward more than focusing on 1 demograph thats essentialy suicide for a console and games as a whloe tbh.

CoD 4 is essentially big cause of its create a class gimmick and it was the first really big in your face shooter of this gen.

Need For Speed underground and its derivatives could be considered gimmicky cause of the body kit modification

Guitar hero/Rock band are big gimmicks aswell and guess what they sold extremely well.

The Wii is a great platform its under praised sometimes, theres a lot of really good core games that go under the radar a bit cause of SW's heavy focus on either.ZOMG GRAFFIIXXXXX or some silly MS/Sony exclusive arguement that instantly makes it better than a piece of slice bread.

It's not that nintendo is bad at making consoles, they are bad at supporting other developers. If you make a game on nintendo platform, you will always be playing second fiddle to their first party games.

Sony makes TVs, cellphones, laptpops, cd players, hi-fis, etc etc. Microsoft makes operating systems for PCs and cellphones, PC peripherals, etc etc. Both of them also make consoles and videogames. Both of them were giants in their respective markets before they got into the gaming market. Nintendo on the other hand, has always made consoles and videogames, that's where it started and where it'll end.

Which is why the Wii has the most AA+ exclusives of all 3 consoles. 7 more than the PS3 and 10 more than the 360.

The only system that has been more or less useless to me recently is the 360. Btw, I can easily see why someone would use it as their primary. Using the spreadsheet there are 176 games that scored above a 7 on the system, this counts both for exclusives and multiplats and does not include Wiiware games.

The system may be lacking in multiplats and blockbusters, but it does NOT lack good games. And to be frank, I like how the library is almost completely devoid of popamoles.

[QUOTE="clone01"] So because you don't like the Wii, it automatically negates its value for someone else? And we're talking about the history of Nintendo here. Are you saying that all their consoles are terrible? I really don't see that being the case.Maroxad

Like I said, I liked the SNES. The Wii is just useless as a core gamer's platform though.

Which is why the Wii has the most AA+ exclusives of all 3 consoles. 7 more than the PS3 and 10 more than the 360.

Doesn't matter. I'm not talking about exclusives, and I assume you're only using GS scores too.

Nintendo makes great consoles, they just don't get any games. Every Nintendo system I've bought still works to this day. Sure, the games are for children aged 7-13, giving me no reason to ever turn a Nintendo system on again; but if I wanted to, I could...

They make good games, it's just no one else really makes games for their system. (generalization but fairly true)

Why would Nintendo go third party? Would that make any sense for them? They sell the most hardware in both home consoles and handhelds and they also have most profit on a piece of hardware sold. Wake up, TC.

Yeah, because that whole "going third party" deal worked out so great for the quality of Sega's games.

It is from the Gamespot score spreadsheet, which counts GS scores only. Did I mention that not all Wii games have been reviewed, Rune Factory Frontier was never reviewed and that game is superb. I use the wii as my secondary system, PC being my primary. I seldomly use my PS3 and I havent bought a new game for my 360 in a loong time.

I like the Wii, it is a great secondary system. Point is Wii has plenty of good-great games if you know where to look. Just like how GW2 will beat the WoW-Clone SWTOR.
