[QUOTE="_BlueDuck_"]If you're going to complain about Metroid Prime 3 not having multiplayer, you might as well complain about Twilight Princess, or even Mario not having multiplayer. Seriously, Metroid has more in common with those than it does with your online shooters such as Halo.REVOLUTIONfreakAgreed. MP isn't even an FPS, it's a "first person adventure", so it focuses more on exploration and puzzle solving than the actual shooting itself. Why else would it have a lock on feature? (Although I don't know if that is still included in this game)
Lock-on is still included in the game, however, some quicker and/or more advance enemies require more percision and therefore some manual aiming required.

And even if Bioshock would have a multiplayer option, who's gonna play it when theres tons of better online multiplayer games for the 360. Its just gonna be waste of effort, time and money for the dev.
Because there are already several great multiplayer shooters on the Xbox 360...an online shooter doesn't exist on the Wii yet.dracula_16But Metroid Prime isn't designed like first person shooters. It is an FPA where you explore your surroundings first and shoot later while Bioshock is actually categorized as an FPS. Lemmings expect all their FPSs to have online multiplayer, but when one of theres doesn't have it; they turn the other way while putting down other games like MP3 which is not an FPS and has never been about multiplayer in the first place.

Multiplayer does not fit well with the Metroid series and is not necessary. The Metroid series' strong points are exploration, pluzzle solving, and strategic boss battles. Those points do not translate well into an online shooter. Multiplayer would seem tacked on (like in Echoes) and a completly different experience than what the game reallyis, just as "Online Mario Fire-ball throwing competition", or "Link's online archery death match" would be.
It's funny that peope complain about the Wii being suited only for casual players.. Now with Metroid Prime 3,a very deep andepic game single player game, people seem to complain that it's not more like Metroid Prime Hunters; which can be roughly translated into "Metroid Prime for casuals". Same can be said for Zelda: Four Swords Adventure, do people want all the new Zelda games to be like that (a party game)since it could possibly be an online multiplayer experience? I'm not saying those are bad games at all, I'm just saying they are spin offs from their main respective series' for good reasons.

Just talking to people who seem to think Metroid Prime 3 without multiplayer is the equivalent of Halo 3without multiplayer.
1. Metroid has had online before
2. The Wii has no online games and this is a perfect oppurtunity
R-Dot-Yung
1. Metroid Prime Hunters?
2. Pokemon Battle Revolution
[QUOTE="darkodonnie"]You know when MP3 ws aounced, every sheep here was excited because hunters had online multiplayer so they expected MP3 to have one. Some were bragging that waggling with the wiimote was gonna be so much fun with an online multiplayer like Metroid. They basically demanded and expected it. well you know sheep they dont complain when nintendo speaks, so no backlash.I would guess it is just that people were hopeful for online/splitscreen multiplayer with MP3 because: the DS version had good online, the Wii has 0 good online games, and Wii games are usually more fun with multiplayer than alone
meanwhile nobody expected online from Bioshock, and 360 owners have COD2/3, Gears of War, Halo 3, RB6: Vegas, FEAR, etc. for shooters with online multiplayer
Tamarind_Face
With Bioshock we didnt expect any online multiplayer. Only the ignorant complained about it not having online multiplayer.
I'm a sheep and i never expect Metroid Prime to have multiplayer considering MP2, are u trying to make up some story becoz i know most sheeps dont care if MP3 is not online since its main focus is single player GAWD!
Another point to the argument:
How many online multiplayer shooter does xbox 360 have? TONS
How many does Wii have? Nada.

Wait, so your logic is that since the Xbox 360 already has online shooters that no more should ever be made? And how do you know that mp for bioshock would have sucked? It sounds to me like your assuming that it would just so you could insult MP3 for not being online.
Would you like Oblivion to have MP ? Even if it did it would've been half arsed. Bioshock will keep you busy for a very long time...Mp3 won't.turgore
Well obviously they keep bringing it up just to bash the game, but I would guess that what started them off is the fact that Metroid Prime is the number 1 shooter on GC/Wii and it has no good multiplayer and Wii doesn't really have anything to fill that role either. Whereas with 360, Bioshock doesn't need it because the lemmings have Halo.....and a billion other online shooters but mainly Halo.
The complex AI and game mechanics of bioshock make result in 1000s of strategys which would take forever to full explore. Ill play MP3... but its going to be very static and task oriented. The other thing is that MP3 could have been a great first online shooter... there are already enough online shooters for the 360... yet zero on the Wii.
Just so yall know, I think MP3 and Bioshock are similar in the fact that they will both have an excellent single player experience since they are both single player focused games. They both will have compelling storylines that revolve around the exploration and the experiences of the main character. I am personally happy they don't have multiplayer because every game doesn't need multiplayer especially when that's not what the game is even about.
peaceful_anger
But here's what I don't understand. Why do lemmings think it is okay for Bioshock to not have multiplayer, but think MP3 should have it? I find it rather sad and hypocritical that yall automatically think MP3 is going to suck now or isn't worth getting anymore because of the lack of multiplayer when Bioshock doesn't have it either, yet yall still praise it.
So lemmings, please explain to me why you think Metroid Prime 3, an FPA, should have multiplayer, but Bioshock, an FPS with RPG elements, shouldn't?
I also can't wait to see how these games get reviewed. I wonder if they both will get docked points for a lack of multiplayer (which I don't think they should), or if MP3 gets docked pts for a lack of multiplayer butnot Bioshock, or vice versa.
1. Metroid has had online before

What this man said
[QUOTE="turgore"]Would you like Oblivion to have MP ? Even if it did it would've been half arsed. Bioshock will keep you busy for a very long time...Mp3 won't.Sir-Marwin105How do you know that? If anything, MP3 will be longer than Bioshock.
True, I saw in an interview with the devs that bioshock will be about 15 hours long.
Bioshock will inevitablly have co-op sooner or later on the PC. No milk chocolate for console players though.Vandalvideo
Maybe, and if it's as bad as SS2's after-the-fact patched in multiplayer was then I won't really miss it.
Anyway, I'm hugely looking forward to BioShock and MP3 and I don't particularly mind the fact that neither will have mutiplayer (and this is someone who loves playing[certain] shooters online.) Why? Neither game is really geared toward the multiplayer experience like Gears, Halo, etc. are. They're different types of games, very SP oriented.
Like every other response, MP in prior MP is the reason.
A slap in the face to sheep everywhere from Nintendo.
At this rate, it doesn't matter how many units the Wii sells, because the better playing games will be on other systems.
mentzer
Um what? How is a single player game that was designed from the ground up as a single player game a slap in the face to sheep? MPH was designed from the grownd up as a multiplayer on line game that is why it was multiplayer. The Main Prime games were not. The rest of your post is just fanboy ramblings.

So because a specific entry in the Metroid Prime series is online one shouldn't expect future offerings to be online? Especially since that is the norm today in gaming?
You're the fanboy.
Sorry, but Nintendo shafted the sheep again this gen due to it's refusal to step into the 21st century.
Online is a basic component in gaming now. Pathetic that the Nintendo and the Wii fails so miserably at it.
See Metroid Prime Hunters.
That had mp, why not corruption?
skrat_01
That's the reason why it shouldn't have multiplayer. If they release a Metriod game that is multiplayer centric then I'll all for it, but I would not agree to a half-baked, tacked on, poorly implemented multiplayer.

tactical shooters and run and gun shooters can be online but mp is a fpa and it doesnt need online. man i remember playing mph and the sp was not so great and gamespot complained that mph was to much like a fps than what it is (a fpa) and the game got a 8.6 mostly because of the sp,and if you dont belive me then look up mp3c and read the opening summery .[QUOTE="kingsy_the_one"][QUOTE="mentzer"][QUOTE="Ichiroisawsome"][QUOTE="mentzer"]Like every other response, MP in prior MP is the reason.

What makes MP3 long? scanning, backtracking, dark world, silent cutscenes... Pretty much boring fillers.
While Bioshock is all about pure gameplay baby... And the story of Bioshock isnt lame like MP3's... Space Pirates? aliens? parasites?
MP3 needs to have a Multiplayer option cause it will never get a AAA rating with its upgraded gamecube graphics.
Tamarind_Face
I agree with everything you just said. And like someone else said, the Wii desperately needs an online FPS (no I will not call it FPA)
[QUOTE="skrat_01"]Hunters was SOOOO unbalanced online, basically who ever got the shock coil or the sniper first won.See Metroid Prime Hunters.
That had mp, why not corruption?
bc1391
Then they should just balance the weapons :P
I mean every FPS since Doom has had multiplayer weapons balancing.
Im not sure if DS games can get online patches like PSP games - come to think of it they probably cant - but on the Wii why not?
[QUOTE="skrat_01"]See Metroid Prime Hunters.

It would be nice to have multiplayer.
It dosent need to be tacked on - it simply boosts the longetivy of the game, and makes it a helluva lot more fun, when mates swing by.
See Metroid Prime Echoes.

Seriously don't pay any attention to Tamarind. He's just a raging fanboy that spits out ignorance any chance he gets.Ignorace? i think you two are the one in that state. games that are single player focused shouldnt bother having multiplayer option. Look at Prey and the Darkness their multiplayer is utterly garbage. The darkness has massive lag problems. And some online multiplayer games dont have any one playing it. Kevin Levine even complained this issue. The only reason I am saying that Metroid should have a multiplayer option is because hunters had it and it was good and Wii doesnt have any online shooter.

When you just label this on Lemmings does this mean you consider Bioshock a 360 exclusive since we know the Wii and your PS3 isn't getting it? lol
Personally I think of it as such cause a big big group of people don't do PC gaming and probably never will, myself being one of them.
But none the less I like how you only bring up Lemmings for this when you should also bring up hermits no?
